Looking for connections in all the wrong places...

For fans of Melinda Leigh and the Bree Taggert series, Catch Her Death is another great addition to the series!

Leaping straight into the takedown of a drug dealer and murderer, it sets the scene for the story to come, but is everything that is unfolding linked to this criminal family or someone else from the teams past. You will be hooked and turning the pages keen to know how all the puzzle pieces fit together as once again, a killer is too close to home.

This is a series that I recommend you read in order. While each book in the series has a new crime the team solve, the foundation/core characters are a big draw to series written by Melinda and in each book, we see them grow and evolve. In this book, one year on from the death of her sister, which saw her move her life to a new town and take on the responsibility of a parent to her niece and nephew, we see the new family emerging from grief to allow happiness in. This story we see a potential budding new romance as Bree’s best friend, Dana Romano features more in the lead story when she becomes a victim and comes under suspicion as a suspect.

I would also recommend reading the Morgan Dane series in conjunction with this one as Morgan and her other half make appearances in this series. I love the overlap of characters between series. It is not essential but can add a little extra richness knowing the deeper back story of some of the minor characters making an appearance.

Thankyou NetGalley for the ARC.

I love this series. There is always a killer or an evil criminal to catch. This time it was both.
Travis had committed most of his crimes before Bree’s tenure as sheriff, but his rap sheet read like an episode of Justified.
This family is evil to the core.
Two murders that have nothing in common until they do.
Bree and Matt are on guard against someone coming after their family.
This author always writes a suspenseful adventure you just can’t put down and I look forward to many more.

Thankyou to #netgalley, MOntlake and the author for an ARC with the chance to review and provide my comments. I love Melinda Leigh's Bree Taggert series. This is book #7 and it was just as good as the ones before. While each book can technically be read as a stand alone for the who done it and 'solve the crime' factor, you are much better off going in order to appreciate all of the character development. The story touches on so many subjects and emotions as the cases hit close to home involving her own family. I love that the author is geting the secondary characters more involved and exploring the K9 aspect as well. Brody, Ladybug and Greta are always a great addidion to any scene and favorites of mine. Also love how the author makes two or three seemingly unrelated crimes or incidents circle back around to all be connected. Even knowing twists will happen, sometimes it takes me the whole book to figure it out. Can't wait for the next one.

Another hit in this must read series! This mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. I love Bree but enjoyed getting more of Dana. And then there's Matt and Nolan. Be prepared to fan your face at these strong sexy brothers.
There are a lot of elements to this one. There's action, suspense, twists, romance, family, heart, and a little humor. I can't wait for whats next!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5(3.5/5)

Review:
"Catch Her Death" by Melinda Leigh is a heart-pounding and intricately plotted suspense novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. With her knack for crafting gripping narratives, Leigh delivers a rollercoaster ride of emotions, unexpected twists, and relentless tension that will leave readers breathless.

In this thrilling installment of the Bree Taggert series, former homicide detective Bree finds herself pulled into a chilling case involving a murder that hits too close to home. As she digs deeper, Bree uncovers a web of secrets, corruption, and a dangerous killer who will stop at nothing to protect their dark agenda.

Leigh's writing is superb, immersing readers in a world filled with palpable danger and suspense. The author expertly balances the fast-paced action with moments of emotional depth, allowing readers to connect with Bree and the complex cast of characters. The vivid descriptions and attention to detail bring the setting to life, creating a hauntingly atmospheric backdrop that adds to the overall intensity of the story.

Bree Taggert is a compelling protagonist, driven by her dedication to seek justice for the victims and haunted by her own tragic past. Her resilience, intelligence, and determination make her a character worth rooting for. The supporting characters are equally well-drawn, adding layers of intrigue and complexity to the narrative.

The plot of "Catch Her Death" is full of unexpected twists and turns that will keep readers guessing until the very end. Leigh skillfully keeps the suspense building, expertly weaving together multiple storylines and subplots that culminate in a gripping finale. The pacing is relentless, urging readers to devour each chapter in anticipation of what lies ahead.

While this book can be read as a standalone, diving into the entire Bree Taggert series will provide a deeper understanding of the protagonist's journey and character development. However, "Catch Her Death" can still be enjoyed and appreciated as a standalone thriller.

Melinda Leigh's "Catch Her Death" is a testament to her mastery of the suspense genre. With its well-crafted plot, unforgettable characters, and nail-biting suspense, this book is a must-read for fans of thrilling mysteries. Prepare to be captivated and on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

Ms. Leigh just gets better and better in each installment of her Bree Taggert series. In Catch Her Death a murder hits close to home and Bree’s best friend, Dana, becomes the main suspect. Dana walks in right after someone has shot her date, Kent, in his home and then attacks her.

In the meantime, Bree has been receiving death threats in the mail plus vandalism to her home. While away from home one night, someone skulks around Bree’s home and terrorizes her teenage nephew and now the whole family is on high alert. The main suspects are a local small-time crime family, the Ekins who continue to show up at inconvenient times.

Bree’s boyfriend Matt Flynn, and his brother Nolan play big parts in this book protecting the family. Bree and Matt team up to investigate who really killed Dana’s friend since they know the Chief in the other jurisdiction is not looking any further than Dana. I loved the growing relationship between Bree and Matt in this book and the closeness and easiness they freely exhibited.

Nolan steps up to watch over Dana while she is healing and soon feelings start to spark between them. Dana has her doubts, but Nolan just rolls right over them.

There is a lot going on in this book with multiple storylines and I was on the edge of my seat a great deal of the time. The suspense was palpable at times, and I read this book in one sitting.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I gave it four stars!

Bree's friend and babysitter Dana Romano goes on a date to the man's house. As soon as she arrives, she is attacked by an invader and the guy she dated soon dies from his wounds. The local police are on the case, but Bree also tries to keep an eye on the case, especially when her friend becomes the prime suspect. It's not easy for Bree, as she has other cases that require her attention, and at the same time she has to deal with threats against her family.

Police dogs and K-9 Units play a huge role in this book, so if that's what you're looking for, it's here. Especially since dogs are used in this story not only to find missing people, which we are used to, but also for other less obvious purposes; I found it very interesting and refreshing. The plot is really good. I liked how Bree's cases start to intertwine. I also felt that the stakes were high for the whole time and the threat real. I think the author did it very efficiently and definitely managed to create an atmosphere.

I've only read one of the previous books in the series, and not even the one directly preceding this one, but that wasn't a problem. So you can read this book independently of the previous ones. I had no problems understanding who was who and what their relationship was. Still people who have read the previous books will be happy to meet the whole group of characters we see in this book again.

This was a fast pace, exciting tale that tracks with the other books in this series. Someone is out for violence and blood, but after who? With multiple threats coming from unknown sources, Sheriff Taggert must protect her family and home. An associate of Dana's is murdered and Dana finds herself in the hot seat with the law. With help from Matt and close friends, they will find the culprit and clear Dana's name? Or will they be too late for the blow they never saw coming.

I LOVE this series. It's fun, fast, and realistic while it keeps you turning pages quickly. 5 stars indeed!!

Hard to believe this is the seventh book of the Bree Taggert series. It is an incredible read.
Twists and turns are coming at you from the beginning right up until the very end.
The suspect in this story has had a long time to seek his revenge and he’s going full steam.
I certainly recommend this book and the entire series.

Thank you #NetGalley. #Montlake #CatchHerDeath

I've read several books in this series (in no particular order) but enjoy them immensely. The characters are believable and it's easy to feel for them. The plots are always different. There's a little romance, but real to the plot so didn't make me cringe. There are also enough twists that you're always going to be second guessing. In my opinion an enjoyable read and can't wait for the next one.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Matt and Bree are perfect for each other and their relationship continues in this next book in the series. Bree and Matt along with others must solve a murder involving her friend Dana.
As things get dicey Matt’s brother steps in to keep Dana safe and the two get closer.
This book will have you guessing along the way and definitely a book I would recommend.

Melinda Leigh can do no wrong - another exciting Bree Taggert installment. There is something comforting being able to come back to known characters and see what is going on in their lives and what the next who-done-it is going to be. I hope there is more to come for Bree and her family.

I love reading about Sheriff Bree and her family. The Bree series is one of my favorites. Each story has all the elements of a great read. There is a crime she must solve to keep the community safe, a love interest and a good family behind her.
I highly recommend you read them all, this book can be read stand-alone but you don't want to - you need to grasp the childhood and history behind the characters to fully get the depth of each book. Bree saved her siblings as a little child herself, she went on to a career in law but moved back to her hometown when tragedy struck her family. Now as a sheriff she's responsible for keeping their small town safe and locking up Travis Ekin is first order of business in this book. This elicited threats from his family of retaliation.
Bree’s best friend and housemate Dana who helps Bree care for her young niece and nephew, has a date with a special guy but when she arrives he's been shot and the perp is still in the house.
Bree’s love interest and investigator Matt Flynn work together to stop the harassment and threats hitting way too close to home and the children. Bree figures they are coming from the Ekin family and she aims to prove it and she and Matt need to help Dana who has become the prime suspect in the death of her friend. Bree had to pass on the case as she is too close to those involved.
I can't say enough - get this series. Melinda Leigh is a master at weaving a story that captivates your interest and gives you warm feelings with the dynamics of this close-knit family and love. The characters are so real, down to earth and likable. There is love, friendship, dogs, cat, and laughter in addition to drama and mystery.

Another amazing installment in the Bree Taggert series! I think this one might be my favorite so far!

Bree's friend, housemate, and former partner Dana Romano is embroiled in a murder investigation after she walks into her boyfriend's house to find him with a bullet would to the chest and the intruder heading straight toward her. At the same time, Bree busts a local murderer and his family vows revenge. There's a lot going on in this book, and I really loved how we got to see more of Dana as a character. This installment also shows us more of Greta and Collins, the new K9 team. If you're a fan of the series, pick this up now! If you've never read any of the other books, start there - you'll be hooked and get to this one in no time!

I love this series! I also love all of Melinda's books, if she writes it, I will read it!

This was another great adventure with Bree and crew. There's always murder, mayhem, twists/turns, edge of your seat, page turning, a little drama, lots of love, and of course, a murderer is taken off the streets.

I've been waiting for Dana to get her turn/book and I loved how this turned out. She is one of my favorite secondary characters.

I highly recommend reading this series, actually read all of her books as they are so good!
