This one wasn't for me. I didn't manage to become immersed in the story, and the characters felt two-dimensional. The writing was OK but plodding - quite repetitive and dull, I felt, with the same information hammered home again and again. Even scenes that should have been tense and scary felt pedestrian.
I didn't finish it. I think it just wasn't my kind of story.
Catch Her Death by Melinda Leigh Another exciting, suspenseful edition to the Bree Taggert Series. The story forcuses more on Dana Romano, her past cases and her life centered around being Nanny to Bree's niece and nephew. Bree and Matt are more involved with casework this time. Greta is the heroine of the story both in taking down the bad guys and as a search and rescue. She is doing well in her training as a K-9 officer and bonding well with her partner. Many twists and turns and didn't realize who the villian was until the last chapters. Looking forward to where the series goes next.
Thank you to the author, Montlake, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Another great Bree Taggert book. This time it’s Dana’s turn to have problems. I really enjoyed this book. Lots of tension. Plenty of suspense. Lots of bad guys. I loved the direction the storyline went in. I read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Another fantastic installment into the Bree Taggert series - 5 stars for me! The more I read this series, the more I love the characters. If you haven't read any of the Bree Tanner books yet, you do not HAVE to read them in order to read this one, but trust me, you will want to go back and read them. After reading Lie to Her, I had to go back and read them all and they all were great. This series definitely has a bit of an Eve Dallas vibe to it, if you've read the In Death series by J.D. Robb.
This latest book hooked me right at the start, as I did not see Dana the one to become involved in a murder case. Also in this book there are several cases happening at the same time. As the reader, you're getting insight into how complicated being Sherriff of a small upstate NY county can get because Bree has to navigate working with local LEOs while still protecting herself and her family, and she has to rely on them to do the right thing.
There was definitely a bit more surprise and twists, which made me love the book all the more for it. I also love how we get to see not only Bree Taggert's POV, but also several of the other characters. Normally this is something that can annoy me, as I don't really like multiple POVs, but in this case it actually helped to build some of the suspense and surprise. One of my absolutely favorite characters of this book was one we didn't get to hear from, and that's Greta the K-9 because she is a rock star in this book! Love her and her handler.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In this installment of the Sheriff Taggart series, Bree must work with neighboring law enforcement to solve a home invasion that points to Dana as the shooter. This coincides with her investigation into the corrupt Ekins family as well as personal threats to her and the kids. Her relationship with Matt gets more serious as Dana, too, is given a new love interest. A great addition to the series!
OMG!! This book is so good! From the first page to the last. I love every single character. The Flynn brothers are swoon, and I honestly can not wait for the next book! If you want a book that you can’t put down this is it! Highly recommend.
Bree Taggert is always in danger. Her job as sheriff puts her in the line of fire. Her relationship with her investigator draws attention, and her past is dark and very public. So, it was quite nice that she gets a bit of a rest in the newst novel in her series. I love supporting characters, and Dana has truly supported Bree and her family, so, as a reader who loves this world and especially Bree's chosen family, getting some new insights into the retired-officer-turned-nanny was overdue! I love the different perspectives that Leigh uses to tell all of her stories, and especially this one! For fans of the series, this is full of the foreshadowing and twists and turns that keep us coming back for more! If you love a good murder, some great detective work, strong female protagonists, a big dose of suspense, and a nice dash of romance, this book is for you!
LOVED everything about this newest addition to the Bree Taggert series. Fast-paced, great storyline, fantastic character development. Can't wait for the next one!!!
Thank you #netgalley and #montlake for the eARC.
Melinda Leigh does it again! I absolutely adore this series and devour the books in a day or two each time they come out. They always have the perfect blend of mystery, thrill, excitement, with some romance thrown in. What a perfect combination! Easy and quick read. You could read each of these books as a stand alone but I would recommend reading the series in order to get the background information on all the characters and their relationships!
So good. Every book gets better and better. From the very first page you are literally running for your life and it doesn’t let up until the last page. As you can see I read it in a matter of hours. That’s how good it was.
I loved that it was not what it seemed, that the focus was on the wrong person. I don’t do spoilers so I’ll let each reader figure it out. The characters journey and growth from each book to the next is my favorite. From great sorrow these characters have created a family. The Bree Taggert series a must read.
I sure hope there will be more in this series. Because this author does a fantastic job of combining a great mystery with characters you can’t get enough of. And I loved the appearance of Morgan Dane, she has always been a favorite of mine.
If you are a fan of Debra Webb, Robert Dugoni, Lisa Regan and Kendra Elliot. This author is a must read.
This series just keeps getting better and better and Catch Her Death does not disappoint. In Catch Her Death, Dana (Bree’s former partner and the kids’ nanny) gets caught up in an attack at the home of her date that leaves her injured and angry. While Bree and company take down a local drug dealer and murder, she ends up in the crosshairs with his family which leads her to question if they are the ones causing the recent vandalism at the farm. With two seemingly separate crimes, Bree trusts her gut and keeps investigating looking for possible connections between the two crimes and her past cases.
I love seeing the growth of everyone throughout this series especially with Bree and Matt’s relationship. Those two are perfect for each other and the way they move together both professionally and personally. I’m hoping an engagement is in their near future.
Thank you @melindaleigh1 @amazonpublishing and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
Wow.
I could not put this down.
The plot was completely unpredictable and left me wondering until the very end
The Bree Taggert series is one of my favorite romantic suspense and I'm always on board for more of these characters.
Yet again, Melinda Leigh did not disappoint with the plot and I devoured Catch Her Death. And already I can't wait to read the next one!
In Catch Her Death we have another wonderful crime thriller in the Sheriff Bree Taggert series.
Bree’s best friend and previous police partner Dana Romano goes for a dinner date at her new boyfriends house, on entering the house she is confronted by a masked man, during a fight where he tries to strangle her she is concussed, the man flees and Dana finds the boyfriend has been shot in the chest, despite all her attempts to give aid and the prompt action of the paramedics he dies.
Added to all this Travis Ekin a murderer Bree has caught and is now serving a long sentence so his family are threatening Bree with severe retribution.
The characters in this story as usual with this author are well rounded with depth. This is a well constructed thrill that keeps you guessing and at time on the edge of your seat.
As the hunt and investigation for the killer continue much is revealed. With its twists and turns the reveal is shocking but a satisfying ending.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. I really liked this one. It was interesting, with a twist. Just an enjoyable read, it wasn't quite as negative. Very likeable characters. 4 stars

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I could not put this book down! This fast read had me on the edge of my seat and I refused to go to bed until I had reached the end!!!
I don't even know where to start....I absolutely loved this book! Sheriff Bree Taggert is a strong, independent woman who has overcome so much. She is now the guardian of her niece and nephew and is learning how to trust, love, and ask for help.
I absolutely love the characters in this book! Bree is fierce and amazing. I love her family and friends. The storyline was incredible! This is fast paced, filled with action, and so many twists and turns as Bree tries to figure out who the murderer is! I could not put this one down! I was on the edge of my seat and stayed up late so I could see how is ended! Incredible!!!!
I highly recommend reading this if you enjoy crime dramas! 5 Stars!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another great installment in the Bree Taggert series. This one features Dana and also brings Morgan and Lance in for a part of the story. We see a little more of Matt's family in this one too. Thanks for the early chance to catch up with some of my favorite characters.
As we return to Grey’s Hallow we are off quickly on another adventure and the body count jumps quickly. This is my favourite series, with such well developed characters. This is a more Dana centric novel as Bree and Matt scramble to figure out who is behind the murder of Dana’s date.
This series is still going strong, can’t wait to see what happens next.
After reading a bunch of Melinda Leigh books, I was able to figure this book out fairly easily, but it did not diminish my love for it. I was too suspect of a certain person due to X Y and Z scenarios. despite this, it was well packed with action.
Catch Her Death is book 7 in the Bree Taggert series by Melinda Leigh.
And y’all it was such a suspenseful, intriguing story.
This is another fantastic book by Melinda Leigh.
I have not read a bad book by Melinda Leigh yet and her newest book did not disappoint.
The murder/mysteries are always puzzling and complex.
The story was just terrific with those wonderful characters which add significantly to the overall enjoyment of the book.
I found this book to be fast-paced, well written and very engaging.
This book has a well developed plot and as well as characters.
Catch Her Death is a superb read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
