I haven't read the prequel to Just Between Us, and I can see from other reviews that this may have enhanced the story. However, much like the only other Adele Parks book that I've read, this also has a deliciously uncomfortable vibe throughout.

I thought DCI Clements was a great character and I will enjoy other books featuring this tenacious copper!

There is a dual storyline featuring - frankly confusing - bigamist Kylie Gillingham and the mystery of her disappearance, and also innocent Stacie Jones who lives with her dad in a small village where she lives an enviable simple life. But how and why do these worlds collide?

As well as being a cracking thriller, the author takes us on a deep dive into the complexities of relationships, family connections, and what motivates people to do the bizarrest of things to those they purport to love.

My thanks to the author, NetGalley and HQ Stories for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book via netgalley. It starts some months after the supposed murder of Kylie, a woman living two lives, married to two men. The first book in the series left us with a cliff hanger not being sure what happened to Kylie/ Leigh and this book sets out to unravel that. It is very difficult to say anything more about the actual narrative without spoiling the read. Some say they have read this book without reading the first book in the series - I would suggest that would take away some of the nuance that comes with it being a continuation. The story line is Pacy, full of well rounded characters that I felt real connection to. I enjoyed the calm competence of DCI Clements but equally I liked the blundering edginess of her junior colleague. I could almost feel his sighs as his boss seems not to making enough of the clues they have.

I really enjoyed this book and I hope the author continues the series with new cases and characters

Another fabulous read from Adele Parks. Just as captivating as her previous novel, this book is totally addictive. Great storyline played out with very well developed and authentic characters.

*Just Between Us* by Adele Parks is a gripping and emotionally charged read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Adele Parks has a knack for creating intricate and believable characters, and this book is no exception.

The plot revolves around secrets, lies, and the complexities of relationships, making for a compelling story that kept me hooked from start to finish. The tension builds beautifully as the story unfolds, and I found myself constantly on edge, eager to discover what would happen next.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, each with their own flaws and motivations. I loved how Parks delved into their inner lives, making them feel like real people with genuine struggles and emotions.

While there were moments when the pacing felt a bit slow, the excellent writing and the twists and turns more than made up for it. The story takes some unexpected directions, and the ending was both satisfying and thought-provoking.

What I appreciated most were the insights into human nature and the way Parks explores the impact of secrets on our lives and relationships. It's a powerful reminder of how little we sometimes know about the people closest to us.

Overall, *Just Between Us* is a fantastic read for anyone who loves a good domestic thriller with plenty of emotional depth. Adele Parks has delivered yet another engaging and thought-provoking novel that I highly recommend.

Adele Parks is an author whose books will always have you on the edge of your seat. Just Between Us continues the trend. Fast paced, complex with many twists and turns and characters who at points you think might be the culprit, but you just don't know. It's a book that keeps you on your toes trying to work it all out.

Just Between Us is a psychological thriller that started out a little slow at the beginning and then about half way through turns into a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down. This book is the sequel to Both of You so it does help if you are familiar with that book..
This is filled with twists and turns that you won't see coming.

Kylie is a bigamist, but is she alive or dead?
This is a fantastic story, full of excellent, believable characters, great descriptions of places and absolutely exciting action! I loved it so much, I’m buying copies for family and friends’ Christmas presents.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for review.

This was fascinating! I'd read Both of Us so I knew where the story would start, and it was so interesting to see how Adele Parks created a sequel from a fixed text, while also writing a story which could work as a standalone to anyone who hadn't read the first. I thought she was a genius before, but now I'm convinced of it!

I loved this engaging read with its twisty plot and a cast of characters that I both loved and hated! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC.

Adele Parks is a QUEEN. This book is phenomenal! I actually don’t think any written review could do this book justice. I need to give it a go.

Both of You was a book that completely blew my mind. I was desperate to know what happened next. I was thrilled to receive a message from Adele letting me know that this would fill in any blanks I had. I instantly became more excited. I mean, I only need a title of an Adele Park’s books to preorder so my countdown for delivery was on.

The wait has been a million percent worth it. It has been a delight to revisit characters that I adore from Both of You. I could never have predicted how this was going to play out. This is completely unacceptable and utterly brilliant from beginning to end.

I feel like I want to just slide into Adele’s DM’s with the words “ALL HAIL QUEEN ADELE”. Nothing about this book can be considered a negative. It’s brilliant from page one to the end. I found myself completely lost in the pages and unwilling to put this down.

We finally find out the truth behind Fake Fiona and discover the real reasons for her actions. I’ve really found my heart hurting for poor Seb and Oli, they are definitely the innocents in this.

Mark and Daan are also back. Both suspects and I’m still unsure on my opinion of both of them. However, Parks portrays them perfectly and in a way you feel empathy for them as the plot unfolds.

This is perfectly paced. I was pulled in and completely unwilling to put this down. It has resulted in me devouring this entire gem in just one sitting. My only regret, I can’t experience this as a first read all over again.

I have read most of Adele’s books and these are my favourites. They are just phenomenal. Unpredictable, completely addictive and guaranteed to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this book. It is a masterpiece and should be on everyone’s TBR.

You know I love a book involving missing people. So this was perfect for me. It did drag on in places though, and that would by my only criticism.

Not the best book by this author: too long and it starts with a bang and then it's a bit too long and dragging.
There's a fascinating description of the lockdown and well rounded characters
I was kept guessing.
.3.5 upped to 4
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Wow! What a story! From the first page to the last, this book had me on the edge of my seat, frantically turning pages to see what was next.

I read a few of Park's books before, and this one is definitely one of the best. The plot is very unusual... the killer is revealed very early on, and so are their motives, but the journey to discover everything that's in the background is amazing. The parallel plot is so mysterious and clever, I wasn't sure what the heck was going on and why we were told this completely unrelated story... until the truth came out and wow.

I didn't know this book was the sequel of Both of you, now I'm going to have to read that one as well asap. But if you haven't read that, read assured this can be read and enjoyed as a standalone.

This is a book I 100% recommend!

Thank you @netgalley and @hqstories for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
