Kylie Gillingham is missing presumed dead. Searching for her is DCI Clements and her team. They have discovered that Kylie has led a dual life , married to2 men at the same time. Mark, dad of 2 her 1st husband and Daan, serial adulterer who is currently being charged with her murder.
DCI Clements doesn’t believe he did it and with the absence of a body is unsure if Kylie is even dead despite all the evidence pointing that way

Meanwhile in a small seaside town we meet Stacie Jones and her dad. Stacie is recovering from brain surgery and is struggling with memory loss. As things start to come back, she struggles with her identity. Are the memories she’s experiencing real, or the false memories her father has said she may experience?

What links these two stories?

I found this well written. The characters intriguing and I was keen to keep reading to find out how their stories linked. Whilst some twists I was prepared for their were others that took me by surprise

I was also completely shocked at the end to find this was a sequel to a previous book, which I am now going back to read. Despite this it was great as a standalone and I didn’t ever feel I had missed anything which is why it was such anshock to discover when reading the authors notes

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me access to this title

I was thrilled to discover the sequel to this book, as I'm not a fan of open endings. The writing was simply outstanding, immersing me fully in the world the characters inhabited. I experienced a whirlwind of emotions - curiosity, fear, and even a desire for a different outcome, yet strangely, I found solace in the way it all concluded.

There were moments that sent shivers down my spine, particularly those involving children. The author's ability to create such intense and suspenseful twists truly kept me on the edge of my seat.

But what truly stood out for me was the main character. Their depth and relatability made me instantly connect with them, and I found myself rooting for them throughout the story.

In summary, this sequel was a rollercoaster of emotions, skillfully written, with characters that felt like old friends. It's a book that I won't soon forget.

What an excellent premise with intertwined stories that keeps you turning the pages.

The characters are well written and you don’t quite know who to trust at any point which makes it a compulsive read.

I just couldn’t get into this book at all. The start was good and kind of got you initially hooked but then it seemed to go all round the houses giving background information on the missing person… except it never seemed to get out of that situation and as a consequence, I very much found myself skim reading it. Thanks for the opportunity to read it but it just wasn’t for me.

I absolutely love any book by Adele Parks and this was no exception. It’s a follow up to Both of You so if you haven’t already read that, I suggest you do. This could be read as a stand-alone but I think most readers would enjoy it more having known the back story.

Kylie Gillingham is married to two men, is missing, presumed dead and both husbands are suspects!

DC Clements is the detective on the case and won’t stop until she finds the body.

Stacie Jones is recovering from cancer, being cared for by her father.

Set during the Covid pandemic so there are a few references to this.

Chapters written from the point of view of all the the main characters.

I loved how the story came together after a slow start, gradually building.and then the pace suddenly ramped up.

I couldn’t get into this book at all. Might just be the way I’m feeling right now but I couldn’t take to the characters and it didn’t grip me, sorry. Thank you for the chance to read this early copy

As always, probably one of the best books I’ve read this year!
I loved it, such edge if your seat stuff.

I love Adele Parks novels and am always hugely excited for her new releases.

This was a great read, though unfortunately, it wasn't one of her best, I didn't realise that it was a sequel to 'Both of Us' (which is currently patiently waiting on my TBR list). I think if I had read this afterwards, I would have enjoyed it more.

I'm not sure it's ideal as a stand alone read but will be sure to revisit this once I've read the first.

Will definitely keep looking out for anything new from Adele Parks in future.

Not my favourite Adele Parks read, it didn’t grip me as some of her other books have and it took me a while to finish. I didn’t realise until the end that this was a sequel to an earlier book, so this might be the reason I didn’t warm to the characters.

I really wanted to love this listen but unfortunately I didn’t. It took awhile to get going and even then it was a slow burn. I found the initial chapters overly descriptive to the point I’d loose interest. I felt I was missing something throughout and it was only on listening to the authors note at the end that I realised it was a follow on from another read. I found it a slog and far longer than it needed to be. Had I read the first instalment maybe I’d feel different but this one is also described as a standalone but it definitely didn’t work for me. The storyline was interesting in parts but I can’t say I took to any of the characters really. Didn’t work for me unfortunately…

Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for the opportunity to read and review #JustBetweenUs

I started the book and loved it. I then realised there was a prequel so bought that and read the two back to back. A really clever story of a woman who is leading two lives trying to justify it is all fine. When she goes missing both husbands find the truth and are key suspects. A really gripping story with lots of twists and a great story to connect the two females. Can definitely be read as standalone also.

This book had a great pace, which along with its complex characters made it a great read. I did figure out the twists before hand but that didn’t affect how much I enjoyed the book.

I love Adele Parks books.

This is the sequel to Both of us it can be read as a standalone however I do feel it’s much better read as a sequel.

Adele is always a very descriptive creating an atmosphere.
I enjoyed the characters and it was a great follow up.

Excellent story!

The author herself says that Just Between Us can be read as a stand-alone (and these are her stories so she can say that) but I strongly recommend that if you haven’t already read the prequel to this, ‘Both Of You’, that you do read it before you start this.

I didn’t. I thought I was up to date and had read all of Parks’ books so when I started JBU, I didn’t know there had been a story before.

The opening couple of chapters left me wondering what was going on. And I don’t mean the plot, I mean the quality of the writing. It was awful. It seemed like everything was over-egged and the police were caricatures.

I found it so unlike Parks that I checked out some reviews to see what other people thought. That’s when I realised there was a prequel. So I went back and read it. And it was soooo good. I think I was actually lucky not to have read BOY first, as I could pick up the story in the sequel straight away.

It also helped me make sense of the opening chapters of JBU, which speedily recapped the events of book 1. Once I understood that, my perception of them changed too.

But JBU - what a story. It’s an absolute thriller. I couldn’t see how the story would be resolved but it was tightly plotted and full of surprising twists.

There was one part, that I don’t want to spoil for anyone so will be vague - but someone did something that had a huge impact on their life and led them to the point we find them at. I think that would have explained what happened next and it didn’t need the pantomime element.

That said, that’s a tiny complaint.

A great story, packed with as much emotional intelligence, passion, love and insight into the human state as the first book. And it has a very satisfying ending!

Loved it. Could NOT put it down.

A worthy sequel to Both of Us!
A great offering from Adele Parks which followed up the original story really well. I really enjoyed the differing perspectives, reactions and actions from the husbands to the situation they found themselves in.
Big thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book inexchange for an honest review.

An exciting thriller which picks up where Both Of Us finished. I spent the first few chapters completely confused as I didn’t realise it was a sequel but I knew the characters from somewhere.
This was a real page turner which I think I enjoyed more than the original. The characters are larger than life but work well together, with sympathies changing regularly as the book goes on.
Thanks to Netgalley for the book in return for a review.

This book is the sequel to Both of Us, I have not read it and didn't realise that Just Between Us was a sequel. As a stand-alone, it works incredibly well and I did not feel I was missing out or confused. I do imagine the first book would have been an excellent read though.

Kylie is dead, there is no body and her husband, yes she has two of them, are both being looked at for her murder. She is married to Mark, a man with two boys Seb and Oli, a gardener and she is stepmum as well as wife. Then there is her second husband Daan, wealth a banker who is currently in his home in the Netherlands and conducting his police interviews online. The setting for this is during Covid which gives the reasons for some of the events.

Along with this, there is a second storyline, that of Stacy. She is recovering from an illness and has very patchy memories, her father Kenneth is filling in the blanks for her and doing all he can to prevent her from falling ill from Covid. This is easy to do as they live in a somewhat isolated position in Lyme Regis.

While there is the hunt for the body of Kylie, the police are desperately searching for signs of where she went, who was involved and what exactly happened. The lives of the characters continue as best they can. The author tells the story from the perspective of her characters and this is great for getting into their heads. It is also a great way of keeping the story moving as you flip from one voice to another.

The pacing of the story starts steady and gradually builds momentum, along with this the suspense and mystery also ramp up. Never quite sure how the author saw this panning out and only being given titbits along the way it was a story filled with intrigue.

As the story got going some shocks are dropped into the reader's lap, sort of being told who was who and who did what. But, never sure why. Understanding the motivation behind crime is just as interesting as the the events leading up to it and the twists and turns of the investigation.

I really enjoyed this story and it was such a fabulously twisted one. Mystery, intrigue and suspense all the way. A brilliant book that I would definitely recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it kept me gripped from start to finish, especially towards the end when I couldn't put it down.
it was intriguing and I didn't know where it was heading so had no hints as to how it would end.
Apparently it is a sequel to Both of Us but this was not obvious, indeed I did not realise until I read the author's notes at the very end of the book. Sometimes sequels make you feel that you have come late to the party if you have not read the previous book but this one had absolutely no negative impact on the reader's enjoyment. It would therefore work very well as a standalone.
I did like DC Clements.

I had not read Both of you, the prequel to this book so from the beginning felt I was at a disadvantage not knowing the previous history to this story. Bu soon I go the gist of the story without issue.
A crisply narrated story with a compelling storyline, interesting and credible characters.
Well paced, with twists, turns and some unexpected “swerved”, this kept me engaged.
