I admit when I started reading this book I didn't realise it was a sequel so it took a little while to catch up so it seemed a little confusing at first but it can be read as a stand alone so that is okay. Having said that, although I am a big fan of the author, it is not one of her best, even though there were several twists it wasn't that thrilling and the characters weren't that engaging.
Not one of my favorites I'm afraid

There is lots of intrigue to keep you hooked on this story; we have the shocking disappearance of one woman, leaving two men, two children and a friend bereft and we have a woman in recovery from cancer surgery at home with her father, learning of a life that she is struggling to recall. Just when you think you know how things are going, then there is a curveball and a new jigsaw piece is unveiled.
At times you are not sure who you are rooting for, who is genuine and who is even likeable but that is part of what keeps you reading. The story builds to a suitably dramatic climax and all the pieces fit to so that our two parallel stories work together.
This is a sequel but could be read independently as enough of the previous book is referenced for you to follow events. An enjoyable read with lots to keep you entertained!

I didn’t realise this was a follow up to Both of Us so was a bit confused at first but after a few pages in I was hooked I loved the story from different characters. Kylie Gillingham is missing the Police find the place where she was held but she’s nowhere to be found she is a bigamist and they suspect both husbands.

It’s a really good read and thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC

An amazing book, the best I have read for a long time. Great writing and edge of your seat suspense meant I couldn’t put the book down.. The story centres on a missing wife and mother of two boys, the police have a suspect, but their evidence is a little too convenient which sets DCI Clements and her partner on the hunt to find more evidence to convict there suspect. The story has a number of interesting twists and turns . Great writing by Adele Parks, thoroughly recommended.

This was my least favourite Adele Parks book, having read all of her previous novels.
It's a sequel to Both of you - where Kylie leads a double life until she dissappears. Just Between Us picks up from the end and Kylie is still missing. Both husbands still believe she is alive and Kylie's youngest stepson is convinced too.

Stacie Jones is recovering from an injury in a small seaside village with her elderley fathe who takes care of her every need. Stacie's memories slowly come back but is she the person her father believes she is.
The novel intertwines between both stories and the end is very predictable and in my opinion very far fetched.

A well written sequel that can also be read as a standalone novel. Interesting to find out what happens next having read the first book. Pacy, with plenty of twists and turns.

I went into this not knowing it was a sequel and I think because of that I did not have the connection to the story or the characters I would have if I had read the first book. Because of this I was quite confused as well, but that is completely my fault. However I do think the writing and storyline is really good and I would recommend just reading this in order.

One of those books you can’t put down as you want to find out the ending. Really well written and I think would make a great movie. A few good twists throughout make it a great read.

I’ve been such a fan of Adele Parks’ for numerous years now.

I have read Both of You, but if you haven’t, don’t be put off as you will be able to pick it all up anyway.

Just Between Us is a gripping story, Adele Parks has that magic that gets you sucked into a book and you don’t want to put it down.

After devouring Adele's book 'Both of You', I was beyond delighted to see these characters appear again in 'Just Between Us'. though I read this as a sequel, I am sure this book would absolutely stand up to being a standalone read for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of reading the first book.

This is a story with 2 distinct, but converging, storylines. In one storyline we have Seb and Oli, 2 brothers who live with Dad, Mark, and Mark's recently acquired lover, Fiona. Fiona's best friend was Leigh, the boys previous stepmother and wife of Mark. Leigh fell from grace is a sensationalist manner, and is now presumed dead. The boys are being contacted online by a man posing as an adolescent - an interesting enough story in its own right!

The other story is of a woman, living with her father, who is nursing her back to health after brain surgery, following cancer than nearly took her life. She suffers amnesia and is desperate to recover her memories - this story takes us in search of those lost memories.

These 2 story lines meet in a gratifyingly explosive fashion! Such a good. book - well written with some likeable and relatable characters. The ending I felt truly fitting!

This is a book I would 100% recommend to anyone with the desire to be entertained!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I received this book as a review copy from Netgalley without realising that it was a sequel to an earlier story, 'Both of You'. Had I known this, I would certainly have read the prequel first, as I spent this novel wondering what had led to the circumstances that the main character find themselves in at the start of the story. That said, there was sufficient intrigue to keep me reading. This is the story of a woman(Kylie Gillingham) who is a bigamist and who has gone missing, presumed murdered by one of her husbands. it is also the story of a young woman recovering from cancer who has no memory from before her recovery. Her father tries to shield her form the outside world and the dangers that Covid might bring so she is isolated and beginning to feel like breaking free. I think it was very obvious from the beginning where Kylie was but, when her two sons set off to find what had happened to her, the action picked up, leading to an exciting conclusion. This is well worth reading but, if you haven't read 'Both of You', I would strongly recommend reading it first as it can only increase your enjoyment of both books.

I had no idea when I started reading this book that it was a sequel to a previous title as I didn't have a sense that I was missing anything. I would agree wholeheartedly therefore with the author that this can be a standalone read - I am now intrigued to read 'Both of Us' to discover the back-story to the main protagonist and it will be interesting to see if having read the sequel impairs the enjoyment of the first book!

Just Between Us is set in the Covid era, conveying fear and uncertainty and mirroring the themes of the story well. After vanishing off the face of the earth Kylie Gillingham has been discovered to be a bigamist leaving behind two very different but equally confused and angry husbands, two teenage stepsons and an alleged best friend. A police investigation is underway with one of the husbands a key suspect and two key officers determined to uncover what has happened to Kylie/Kai/Leigh.

Running alongside the story of Kylie's disappearance is the unfolding story of Stacie Jones and her father, who are dealing with complex health issues themselves which aren't what they seem!

Whilst this story is somewhat far-fetched at times it is nonetheless very entertaining and a great suspenseful read.

I am grateful to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

I had absolutely no idea that this was a sequel! Seriously, I never read a sequel before where I didn’t feel I was missing something. In hindsight, the story really jumped right in from the start which was a little strange to me, but maybe not if you knew you were reading a sequel. The author did such a great job of developing and outlining the characters ghat you really got to know them, even if you weee just meeting them for the first time. I also loved how each character brought different elements to the story. And the characters that were meant to be the baddies, they were complex enough that you understood their actions and even still had some empathy towards them.

For about the first quarter of the book, I had no idea where it was going. Then I began to have an inkling and it was fun unravelling the following chapters to see if I was right. I was for the most part but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment. I would say that the story did feel a bit over complicated at times and perhaps something a little simpler would have been great. I found that the complexity dragged the story out a bit and I found myself skimming a little at the end.

Just Between Us is set during the lockdown. I know that can be a bit annoying for some readers but I felt it fit really well here. It added credibility to the plot line and it wasn’t written just to jump on a big topic.

I received this book via NetGalley and give it my honest opinion.

As many have said this is a sequel to Both of Us and it helped that I had read the first book. Although you could read this as a standalone too.

I found it quite hard to read as it is set during lockdown which was a trigger for me due to issues in lockdown. That being said thr storyline is good and it is well written. A murder mystery with the issues of lockdown gives it a murder twist.

I Always love books by Adele parks and this was no exception although I think I would of enjoyed it more have I’d known it was a sequel to a previous book

As everyone else has said, it is a sequel.

This made reading it quite hard but once I got in to it I found the times being described to be beautifully accurate but the rest of the book was hard to stick with.

I have mixed feelings about this book because a lot of complaints I had about it ( for example why characters made the decisions they did without much explanation) actually became clearer when I read the authors note at the end which explained it was a follow up to another book which I have not read.

I was simply not gripped by this story and it was a real slog to get through. Would I have had more interest had I read the first book and thus formed more of an understanding of/connection to the characters? Quite possibly. But then Just Between Us can supposedly be read as a stand alone novel so that doesn't really stand. Either way, the book was too long and it too far too much time to get going. I also just didn't care about any of the characters. Fiona, Mark and the detectives were all dull. I found it difficult to have sympathy for Kylie but then as mentioned, this may have been different if I had read the first book and understood her better. Daan was probably the most interesting of everyone in the book.

Overall, there was a real lack of twists or excitement in the plot and it just really fell flat for me which is a real disappointment as I have enjoyed many of Adele Park's books before.

This book is a sequel to the Both of You. Although this book can be read on it's own it's much easier to read this first one as it stops any confusion and the plot is a bit easier to follow. The book is set during Covid and it perfectly describes the lockdowns, and social isolation that we all felt and experienced. The characters are all well written and credible. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this brilliant writer

I didn't know this was a sexual until I had finished it but wish I had because it would have all made more sense. I felt I had been parachuted into the middle of a story and none of the characters were well developed. Now I know why - that had been done before I suspect it would be a much more enjoyable read if read in order and you knew enough to care about the characters.

Just Between Us is a sequel to Both of Us which I haven't read (despite having it for some time in my TBR pile!). Had I realised it was a sequel I would have read the other first! However it works briliiantly as a standlaone novel. Stacey Jones lives a quiet life by the sea recovering from cancer and being protected and cared for by her loving father. Bigamist, Kylie Gillingham, has disappeared, presumed dead and both her husbands are suspects for her murder. What could possibly connect these two women? As I've come to expect from Adele this was fast paced and gripping from the outset. Brilliant.
