Such a cute and easy read! I read it in one sitting it was so good!! I hope there will be more to this series, even though there was no cliffhanger, because sign me up!!

kinda disappoint I had really high hopes. been though I really enjoyed the main events of the books I had a hard time really caring for anything else about this. honestly I didn’t really care for the romance as much.

Anything with Witches and I'm sold. I don't ever read graphic novels (not because I don't like them) and I actually loved this one so freaking much. Very mature for HS characters in my opinion which made it better.

I think these characters should have been in collage/university. Seems weird a high school kid has a box of sex toys.

This is a stunning queer witchy graphic novel! The illustrations are amazing and a perfect fit for the vibes of this story. I loved the friendship group within this story and the different characters personalities were wonderful. The representation of friendships was perfect and very relatable. This is a gorgeous quick and easy graphic novel!

This book was short and enjoyable. I liked seeing the different personalities of the four girls and their involvement in the environmental cause.
I love everything to do with witches and magic, and this was very well done, the drawing were what drew me in in the first place, but the story itself kept me interested. The occasional creepiness would make this a perfect October read.
I was a little disappointed to see that the girls were a little bit stereotyped sometimes, and the explanations at the end were a little short and abrupt. That being said, I would definitely read a sequel if one was to be made.

This was a fun, light, quick read. I liked that it dived right into action at the start. It kind of had Lumberjanes meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer vibes. I liked that we got a sapphic character where that was not shied away from and not made into her token personality trait either. I'd be interested in reading a sequel if there ever is one.

This was a cute graphic novel! I enjoyed it a lot! you can tell that the movie "The Craft" was a big inspiration for it (there's even a movie poster in one of the bedrooms!). The art style isn't my favorite but it was still beautifully illustrated, the artist really put a lot of effort on every detail. It's just a classic tale about witches figuring out their power! I would recommend!!!

A story about 4 witchey friends, and their adventures with witchcraft. If you like movies such as the craft, this graphic novel will be right up your alley. Its very cute and has themes of friendship, and coming of age.

I want to start this review by saying that I absolutely loved the art!! The details in the drawing were amazing and the colors used really helped set the tone.
I loved the story and how diverse every character was. Their friendship was cute and it was great to have insight to each one of the girl's backstories. I enjoyed seeing their individual stories too. Lily was my favorite. I really enjoyed the writing style because it felt authentic in the way teenagers were portrayed and talked.
Their adventure with magic was fun to read and very entertaining. Overall this was an easy read. The ending felt a little anticlimactic to me, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I love witchy fantasy in all media, and this gave me the same vibes as Little Witch Academia, with added elements of teen girl friendship & bonding.
I found this quick, light & immersive to read, all the elements went together to make something that felt warm, bright & still maintained its story throughout. I only wish there were more of the romance subplots explored.

Synopsis:
Four young students - Eve, Lily, Diane, and Morgane - are determined to save the beloved elm tree from being felled in their local state park. So, they turn to the most reasonable means to do this: Witchcraft! With the instructions, ingredients, tools, and knowledge gathered over their lives, the four incite a spell that will protect the tree from any danger. And it seems to work, as the next day the slated destruction of the elm tree is canceled. But then, strange omens start happening to the girls: Disturbing nightmares, random bursts of anger, and a dark, looming figure stalking the girls on the horizon. Eve, Lily, Diane, and Morgane must figure out what they summoned in the ritual and destroy it before it consumes their very lives.

What I Liked:
I love witch graphic novels, so I had to try this one out. The four girls’ different personalities naturally bounced off each other, and it is nice how they were not super stereotypical to their appearance (aka the goth girl is fiery, the pretty girl is a smart loner, etc). The ending also can take you by surprise in a pleasant way: It’s good hearted and resolves nicely without taking away from the seriousness the girls’ had to go through.

What I Didn’t Like: The art, unfortunately. Sometimes poses were stiff, and facial expressions didn’t align with what the character was saying/feeling or the situation at hand. The panels don’t flow naturally sometimes either and are even out of chronological order (I think), making it hard to follow the action. Panels are repeated too: Same art, different dialogue, with maybe a hand raised or a head turned. It’s noticeable, especially when they are right next to each other.

Who Would I Recommend This To: Teens who like graphic novels about witches. Over My Dead Body by Sweeny Boo is a good recommendation.

Coven follows four friends, the brilliantly named Eve, Diane, Morgane, and Lily, as they resort to magic to save a beloved elm tree from being felled. To their delight and shock, the ritual works, but in the process, it seems their magic has summoned something... else...

Coven is a gorgeously drawn and coloured graphic novel, with detailed depictions of spellwork being my favourite depictions. Each of the girls is a fleshed out human, but I admit to a soft spot for my Goth sis Lily, and it is wonderful to see a diverse group of female characters like this.

It's a brilliant story, lovely artwork, giving me very much The Craft vibes with a little less Nancy Downs, but a hell of a lot of charm. I would love to read more from this universe!

Four girls who love the world of witchcraft and crystals play at being a coven. But when they follow a spell to help protect a tree from being cut down, they mistakenly unleash a chaos demon. Funny, creepy, and full of 1990s-2000s references (Buffy, The Craft!), these girls bite off more than they can chew and have to reckon with the consequences.

This was an interesting read. I think that the art is really good although the beginning of the book was definitely confusing. It was a bit too fast paced for me. It kind of felt like my head was spinning going through the story. That being said, I really enjoyed the characters and how interesting the story itself was. I wish some more context was brought to the table such as the whole magical thing in the beginning. It sort of felt like watching people laugh at an inside joke you're not part of and it feels very isolating. There were a few instances in the book that felt this way. Overall it's an interesting story and with some touch ups it would be a great overall book.

Coven is such a fun little story about friendship and witchcraft!

I have been really into graphic novels recently, so I jumped at the opportunity to give this a go, and I'm glad I did! The art style is beautiful, and the formatting makes it a really engaging read. The four main characters had quirky personalities that I felt meshed well and created that classic girl friendship group that many teens and young adults could relate to. The story had a nice balance between seeing the characters individual experiences as well as their group gatherings and all that those entailed. I do wish the later part of the story had a little more to it, as I did feel at one point that the story was just being dragged out a little too long between big plot points. I do think some of the individual storylines also seemed to start off as very significant and then didn't seem to amount to anything of importance to the main plot, which I expected to happen. Overall, though, it's definitely worth a read, and it's lovely to see more depictions of witchcraft in a more ritualistic way rather than literal magic.
