Hell and damnation! The Bruja is missing! When the most powerful witch alive disappears without a trace, Norah, her 17-year-old niece, decides to investigate. But upon entering her aunt's manor, she interrupts a summoning ritual and finds herself face to face with the devil... Or half of him, anyway, as he has been cut in two and is now stuck in a pentagram. Unable to return to Hell without Norah's help, Lucifer agrees to assist her in finding the Bruja—a devilish task when you're the most feared and hated being on the planet!
What I loved
-It was a fun, entertaining read. That was a very fast read.
-I enjoyed the illustrations, they were attention-grabbing and kept my attention.
What I wished was better
-Some parts were confusing, there was too much going on at times.
-I feel like some of the scenes and details were not fully explained.
The characters were not that interesting and I didn't really feel like I cared about them.
To be frank, a mess – I muscled on for a third of it and found nothing to enjoy. One and a half stars.
This is an adorable comics with the bes witchy vibes.
The worldbuilding was refreshing andthe settings we visited were plenty and all of them interesting to look at. Norah was an amazing MC and I loved her - she seemed realistic in her kindness, sadness and empathy and I really loved her. Satan was a fun character to add in as well. A fun interpretention that I enjoyed.
The art was beautiful and I can just stare at it for ages.
Overall, I loved it but need more work on the friendships arc's resolution.
Rating: 4.5/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
This graphic novel follows a young girl named Norah, she lives with witches and her aunts are powerful witches. One of them is the Bruja and when she goes missing Norah takes it upon herself to find out what happened to her and get her back. However, after a summoning ritual she finds herself face to face with the devil, but the ritual did not go as planned and it's just half of him. They now have to work together to find out what happened with the summoning ritual and her aunt.
This GN was great, I loved the plot, and the art was just amazing. I loved how the author grabbed your attention right away with the storyline. I loved that the plot had a lot of mystery to it, with a lot of twists and turns to who did it and why and the missing pieces of Norah's life was so interesting. I thought the pace of the plot was done just right, not fast, and not slow. It was engaging throughout the book and kept you wanting more and more. I loved that the length of the GN was perfect, not too long and not short. I love reading GN that are about witches and this one will be one of my top favorites.
The art though, wow. Sandra Cardona, you did an amazing job and I loved that even though I was done reading the page I still wanted to check out the pictures.
I want to thank NetGalley and Europe Comics for the opportunity to review this book.
The book had already been released, and I was too late to read it. So, I will make sure to receive a copy and still write my review on it on my website. My standard rating is 3, and I will edit it as soon as I read it.
This was a fun book about a girl who has no magic but interrupts a ritual bringing the devil back to earth while searching for the Bruja, her aunt, who is missing. This is fun and the dynamic between characters made it quite an interesting read - two characters who are annoyed by each other but share a common goal is my jam! I found the art quite nice too and the details and colouring were good, though the facial expressions didn't always match the tone of the speech (but this is a minor pedantic detail on my part and in no way affected anything).
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this graphic novel by Europe Comics via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, which I leave voluntarily
I was so incredibly happy when I received the ARC to the collection edition, after reading a shorter version previously. I loved the story and couldn't wait to see where it went. I still feel the same way about it, but felt the story itself moved very fast. Would have enjoyed a bit more time to learn about characters, maybe some backstories, and such.
Overall the idea and execution was enjoyable. Artwork and coloring are very pleasing to the eye. I really liked this.
I think this might be nice for other readers, but this wasn't my style. I liked the premise and the art, but the ending fell flat for me.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel, even though I didn't expect to at first. The plot, while somewhat cliché in places, is still engaging, and the pacing of the story keeps you hooked. The artwork is well done, with pleasing colors and interesting details. I also liked how the creators reimagined Hell in a modern context, and the humor in the book makes it fresh and entertaining. I hope it gets translated into Italian because it's definitely a recommended read. It's not too heavy, but it's worth it.
I really enjoyed this quick witchy read. I think it could have been a little longer so that things could be explained a little more. Some of it got confusing. The art style was amazing! I loved the art. Would recommend giving this a try!
I really enjoyed this fun, witchy read with its well-timed dashes of humor. It's too bad this is digital only, as I'd love to buy a physical copy for our library. It would be a great addition to the young adult section.
Love the art, clean and clear it was a cute quick read. I found the story a little confusing but it was still pretty good.
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great art style, super clean. Personally not my favorite story, kind of confusing and hard to follow. The characters are also not very likeable?
This was a cute, quick little read! I loved the artwork in this as well. I wish the story was just a bit longer to flesh out some parts of the story but it was enjoyable all the same!
That was really cute and I for sure will be doing a reread. The characters were likeable, and the plot was gripping. I liked the sketches and the graphic designs. Everything was just right on point.
First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with this graphic novel.
devil on her shoulder tells us when the most powerful witch alive disappears without a trace, Norah, her 17-year-old niece, decides to investigate. But upon entering her aunt's manor, she interrupts a summoning ritual and finds herself face to face with the devil... The story is entertaining, it presents us with a lucifer who is trapped by a half-done invocation, in order to return he must help Norah in the search for her aunt, but in the long run she will discover that not everything is as she had thought since she was a child, and Also in hell they want to overthrow lucifer so they will take advantage of his absence to have a new ruler.
It is a one-volume story, but despite the fact that it is not that extensive, it manages to cover everything in the story, something that I really like is the drawing and it is very adoc with the story.
To my liking it is a quick story to read, with a simple but engaging story, I give it about 4.5 out of 5 stars.
A journey of one not so magically gifted witch on the hunt to find her aunt who also happens to be the Bruja. Just one problem, she's stuck with the literal devil whose attached himself to her. The twists and turns of this spooky tale are blissfully unexpected and weave a wonderfully well written story. The world is truly magical and the art style reflects it very well!
Truly loved every minute of this book!
Thank you Netgalley & EuropeComic for the ability to read this graphic!
This graphic novel is super cute & I LOVED looking through all of the illustrations to find the silliest little hidden gems. The story itself was a bit predictable but SO FUN! The art style is not only beautiful but clever and whimsical. Cozy & adorable all around.
