What a fun Graphic Novel that empowered women and had a fun spin on what some consider dark. I loved it!
Beautiful art and a wonderful story, I found it very entertaining. The characters were lovvely and made me care about them, and I found myself really wishing they would succeed.
Are you looking for a quick hero's journey with beautiful art? Then this is the book for you. It is gorgeous and exciting; it keeps the whimsical feeling permeating throughout the book.
I was drawn into this book by the prospect of witches, and that backpack gave me Dora the Explorer Vibes. But this book fails to ever really dig deep into any of the ideas it proposes or the pieces of the world it shows us.
Much like Norah, this book lacks its magic spark, it doesn't feel like a complete story, especially once we reach the end and a hand is waved, and the overarching conflict is solved. Still, we, in turn, also brush off all the other problems shown, or how strong and excellent Norah was even without this so-called Magic Spark.

The cover art and the story being about witches is what made me want to read this book.
It was interesting to see the story taking place on earth, heaven and hell with both witches, demons and the devil. I would have liked the story to have more depth, and more descriptions about the magical world they live in and everything happening in it.
❝I know that if I just keep on trying, one day I’ll find my magic spark.❞
I preferred the art of this book over the actual story, so the illustrator Sandra Cardona deserves the praise. All the art throughout the book is beautiful, so full of details and the colours are also very nice. I really liked all the witchy vibes and the décor that the art displayed in the book.
❝I can’t make any promises, because magic is like life: unpredictable and full of uncertainty. Yet we have no choice but to trust in it.❞
As beautiful and detailed as the art is, it takes over the book in the way that the story isn’t as good as the art is. I would give the art 4 or 5 stars, but less to the story, so that lowers my rating of the whole book.
Fun YA action fantasy graphic novel, with great illustrations. This moves away from the witch schooling trope with the heroine running off to save her aunt that disappeared and finding a lord of demons in her house instead. Starts an adventure rocking high and low in a beautifully strange fantasy world. Highly recommend it to teens who love the anime "Mary and the witch flower" and stories about witches, magic, and powerless girls growing into their strength.
This story follows the enchanting tale of a young witch Norah who finds herself without magic. when her immensely powerful aunt, known as the Bruja, mysteriously vanishes. She is determined to unravel the truth.
As you immerse yourself in the pages of this story, prepare to be mesmerized by the breathtaking artwork that accompanies it. The vibrant colors and intricate details will transport you to a realm filled with wonder and magic. The heartwarming storyline tugs at your emotions, though it occasionally feels rushed, particularly as it nears its conclusion.
While the artistic prowess showcased throughout the comic is exceptional, there remains a longing for a deeper exploration of the narrative. A touch more expansion would truly captivate readers, allowing them to fully connect with the characters and their remarkable journey.

tl;dr
Beautiful art and a straightforward adventure story about an out-of-place teen trying to get her family back.
About
Norah is a young witch with no magic, a tough place to be when your aunt is the world's most powerful witch. But when her aunt disappears, Norah might be the only one who can find her - with a little help from the devil Lucifer himself. A full color graphic novel.
Thoughts
This book moves at a fairly brisk pace with a lot of world-building explained as you go. The world itself is so vast that we only get surface-level information, but it's largely enough to keep track of the adventure that our wayward heroes are on. Norah is way in over her head, but her determination to get her aunt back keeps the story focused as well. Lucifer is an interesting amalgam of various trickster types, but the story is way less about him than it is about Norah. The art is highly detailed and expressive with a very soothing color palette, and the character designs are all very appealing. Overall, a lovely oneshot for anyone looking for cozy witchy vibes.
In “Devil on Her Shoulder” we follow Norah, a witch, in her search for Bruja, her missing aunt. Along the way, a peculiar character appears, the Devil. The pact they created was very intriguing and I really enjoyed the interaction between them.
The world is very well built and I loved the art and the detail present in all the illustrations, how wonderful.
I really want to read a possible sequel to this story and get to know a little more about Norah.

Let’s start with the art. The style is cute and simplistic and the artist’s individuality breathes life into every scene. I loved the designs of the buildings and the main character’s aunt. She’s the perfect modern witch—a bit creepy but still elegant. Sadly the layout was not great. Some panels were too small to read and some contained too much text. Overall, the text felt like it outweighed the art but didn’t contribute much to the plot.
The story has big issues. The world struck me as very detailed, but a lot of the implied themes are never explored. We don’t find out why witches are damned and we don’t learn much about the hierarchy in heaven/hell, although this is a central plot element. The towns don’t seem organic either since we don’t learn how the world works. Are there continents? Different types of witches? Magic doors? I felt like I was kept in the dark far too much.
The main character was a too bland for my taste. She didn’t have many traits (apart from being anxious) and accepted what was happening without hesitation. The story tells us that the MC has no magic—yet, we never find out what implications this has for her life. In fact, she seems rather OK with it? Also, her aunt is a “bruja” and the story never reveals what that title entails.
In short, this was just another mediocre witch story. Apart from the art, the book was not great.

The illustrations were beautiful but the story itself was a bit lackluster. The story kind of drops you right into the middle of this world, without really explaining the world or what's going on.
While the art was very pretty and ultimately what drew me in, the plot made no sense and was extremely rushed. There was no time given to actually make us care for the characters and events of the story. This all became even more apparent towards the end, I couldn't follow what was happening well at all due to it being all over the place, there was no time for the story to breathe you could say.
I would like to thank Europe Comics and NetGalley for an eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
Note: I had read the first part of this comic and reviewed it favorably, this is a bind -up that includes the parts I had already read and the conclusion which is new to me.
There is a lot to like about this comic. The art is really beautiful, complex and visually interesting. The pace of the story is fast in an enjoyable way (and although I will be arguing about the story feeling rushed, I do think that a more complete story with the same pacing would truly work) Also, the characters and locations are all super creative and inspire the reader to continue to read.
Having said all that, I truly feel that this wasn't a good story. The author fails to deliver enough of a set up to get the reader invested in the whirlwind plot. I was often confused as to why I should care about anything that was happening (which could have been resolved by making the story go a little slower, or just adding a bit of background and/or substance). There are A LOT of characters in this tiny story -- all interesting to look at and with unique personalities, but ultimately devoid of meaning... the story tells you what their purpose is, but it doesn't get you to feel it.
The ending felt like just an ex-machina solution, with not enough at stake for the reader to feel any catharsis. If you are a fan of good comic art, this is absolutely an example, but I wouldn't pick it up for anything else.
This is not what I usually read, but I still wanted to give it a try. I think the drawings are exquisite and the story is interesting. The Devil is a very fun character, and I liked the references to pop culture such as Ryan Gosling and Harry Potter (crypto-currency as well). Also, how funny is it to actually have a broomstick driver's license ?
It was fast paced and easy to follow, and I'd recommend this to a teen looking for a cute adventure, with some secrets, betrayals and banter.
I liked the art work. The story was pretty good. It seemed like it wanted to be much more but held back in several places. Also it was a lot crammed onto the pages.
This was a super fun, witchy story with gorgeously detailed artwork. The pacing is quick and action-packed, with plenty of dynamic characters throughout the adventure. There were multiple plot-twists that caught me completely off-guard and overall it was just very readable and enjoyable despite elements of the ending seemingly appearing out of nowhere/the land of plot convenience. Also, Fox!Lucifer is very cute and definitely my favourite character.
I loved this book! Such a fun story, with such a beautiful art style. I couldn’t put it down.
I definitely recommend and would love to read more.
Thank you to the publisher for this review copy.
I really loved the illustration style. The color scheme and setting were whimsical and a great fit to the story. The story is not very long but it is heartwarming. It had good pacing but would have loved to see more of the worlds. Loved the devil’s character. It does read very much like a middle grade story. Very enjoyable.
Super cute short story with beautiful illustrations. This seems to be a standalone which is great for people just starting to get into comic/graphic novels in general but don't have a lot of time to read a long series.
However, if a sequel came out, I would be happy to read it too!

This is a really cozy witchy graphic novel but unfortunately I started to lose interest. In addition, while the art style is gorgeous, it started to feel really overwhelming! It’s kinda chaotic. I appreciate the artist for the level of detail they included though!
A whimsically colorful comic about a young witch who seems to have been born without powers. When her aunt, the extremely powerful Bruja, goes missing, Norah feels like it's up to her to investigate. But after entering her aunt's home, it looks like a summoning ritual gone wrong and half the devil is sticking out of her aunt's floor. Unable to return to Hell without Norah's help, Lucifer agrees to assist Norah with finding the Bruja- which is a daunting task when one of you is powerless and the other is the most hated being in existence.
Beautiful muted colors and detailed artwork. The storyline itself was clear, if a bit rushed, especially at the end. The explanation for Norah's lack of power was sort of confusing as well. Great art. The story just needs a little more fleshing out.
