The cover instantly drew me in but I was not prepared for the funny, sweet, inventive story on top of the breathtaking artwork. I greatly enjoyed reading about Norah and her aunts, and this particular take on crafty, clever Lucifer who gets to travel unconventionally by back pack on a journey with a clumsy but enchanting teenage which pitch to friend her missing Aunt, the only one whom can help him return to his domain after he is summoned to the mortal realm in what seems like an accident. The journey lets both main characters discover surprising things about themselves and one another and is vastly fulfilling in this regard as a quirky coming of age tale with plenty of action and snarky commentary. The designs are fantastic, both landscapes and characters, and the dialogue is tremendously entertaining.

This was a really well done GN! I loved the story, it was a unique and well written. I especially loved the artwork. 5 stars all around!

While the art is very attractive and the premise intriguing, I did not enjoy this nearly as much as I would have expected. I found the plot rushed, the action hard to follow, and the characters rather flat. This wasn't helped by the font choice, which was very hard to read for me due to how small and kind of squiggly it was.

Thank you net galley for providing me with an advanced readers copy in exchange for a honest review

this was such a cute story! Recommended for anyone who is into cozy fantasies. The illustrations of both the world and the characters themselves were absolutely fantastic, and the tiny bits of modern day references hilarious! The magical species (Demons, witches, and souls) was also such a brilliant idea, as they made for a very interesting set of characters. My only complaint is that the story did feel a tiny bit confusing at some parts but other than that this was such a great spring read, appropriate for readers of all ages :)

"Devil on Her Shoulder" by Cedric Mayen & Sandra Cardona follows Norah a witch who barely has magic who accidentally teams up with the devil while looking for her missing aunt.

I would give "Devil on Her Shoulder" by Cedric Mayen & Sandra Cardona a 3-star review because, the story was cute, I liked the art, Norah was the perfect MC, and I loved all the world-building that the authors did.

What a perfect story! Love, love, LOVED the artwork, Norah was the perfect heroine, the antithesis of the devil she worked with. I loved the pop culture references (oh yes Ryan Gosling pops up in this graphic novel so keep your eyes peeled for that!) the familiars were adorable, the demons were horrible - it ended up being a large cast list but they were all distinct and easy to follow alongwith. I really hope there's more to come as the ending could go either way.

I absolutely love this art style! The details are perfection and the story is truly transformed by some of the pages.
The plot itself is entertaining.

Devil On Her Shoulder is a nice little story about a young witch who doesn't have magic, and her accidental team up with the Devil as she tries to find her missing aunt. The story is pretty straightforward, with all sorts of worldbuilding twists and turns; however, the pacing was so fast. New characters and ideas and backstories were being introduced left and right so quickly that I completely lost track of some characters and what they meant to the story overall.

The art here is really lovely, however. It's clean and has great energy, with some lovely color work helping it along. I think part of the issue I had with the pacing came from the choice of storyboarding in the art, however; again, so much was happening on every page that it became very overwhelming at times.

Overall this was a nice read, and while it could have used a about 30 more pages to allow the story room to breathe, it was solid and had some beautiful art.

This was a really fun and fast read!

Nora is the 17 year-old niece of the adored Bruja, who one day goes missing, leaving Critter Town in disarray. When Nora walks in mid-summons, she stops Lucifer from fully entering her realm. The problem is that he's the only one who can help her locate the Bruja, and Nora is the only one who can help Lucifer return to hell.

The world is colourful and vibrant and so weird. I love all the details added to the background, and all the different creatures. Nora is a lovely protagonist, and her banter with Lucifer is quite funny. I especially liked the Bruja and her heart of pure gold. Someone teach Nora how to fly a broom properly, though. Sincerely, every flying being in existence.

For cons, I wish we'd slowed down some in order to get more from the characters, especially at the beginning. I also wish people weren't always changing their minds, and so quickly too. But other than that, I had a blast.

This book is for you if:
- you enjoy witchy stories
- banter between begrudging allies is your cup of tea

Thank you to NetGalley, Cédric Mayen & Sandra Cardona, and Europe Comics for the chance to read and review this book.

With stunning art, a witty mix of pop culture references and nods to current affairs, this hilarious book is a fast read that will capture you from the get-go. Devil on Her Shoulder is fast-paced, mixing magic, witches and the Devil himself, with the mystery of a missing woman at its core. Together an unlikely duo - Lucifer and a young witch named Norah, still yet to find her magic spark - adventure through the realms to locate her missing aunt.

Something about the art style, the style of the Bruja aunt, and the comedy reminded me of Owl House too!

Thank you, Europe Comics and NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The most powerful witch alive has gone missing, and her ironically powerless niece is ready to investigate. However, once she accidentally gets involved in a summoning ritual, she is stuck with the devil himself. This story was so fun to read, with an amazing protagonist and a beautiful setting. The illustrator did a brilliant job with the illustrations and their whole look. There were so many great scenes stuck together that the reader was not able to grasp everything all at once, and that’s why I think people who love fast-paced books would appreciate that. All in all, I think that this graphic novel deserves to be your next read, and I'm excited for the author's new releases!

The most powerful witch alive has gone missing, and her magicless niece, Norah, is investigating. A deal with the devil seems to be her only hope.

"Does it bother you, what the others say about you?"
"A little. But it's like you said: I know that if I just keep on trying, one day I'll find my magic spark."

The art style is so fun! The cover was 100% what drew me in, and I really like the premise of the plot. I really enjoyed the dialogue between Norah and the devil, it was light-hearted and gave me the odd giggle. The world building also felt pretty good, and the illustrations really helped me feel immersed into the world.

The story did feel a little bit rushed at times, and some of the characters didn't feel fully developed which did take me out of the story a little.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and would be interested to see more stories involving Norah!

This wasn't for me. I could not get into it. I've tried graphic novels a few times and each time I haven't managed to get on with them.

Totally in love with this!!! Witches and new magic system as well!!!? Yes please! Story was told in a such a unique way. The devil as a character was completely original! Not to mention the art style. Very simple and easy to read as well! I would totally reread around the Autumn\ Halloween season! I did however disagree with the length as I would love a deeper story told through another character s POV.

Devil on Her Shoulder is a visually stunning graphic novel that follows the adventures of Norah, a 17-year-old girl who teams up with a half-summoned Lucifer to find her missing aunt, the Bruja. With its unique character designs and vibrant colors, the art style is the book's highlight, capturing the reader's attention and drawing them into the magical world created by Cédric Mayen and Sandra Cardona.

The story combines elements of witchcraft, demon lore, and Christian mythology, resulting in an engaging and fast-paced tale filled with twists and turns. Norah's relationships with her aunts and her unlikely alliance with Lucifer are entertaining and thought-provoking. However, the story sometimes feels rushed, leaving certain aspects unexplained or underdeveloped. A longer format or a sequel might have allowed a deeper exploration of the characters and their world.

While the story is aimed at a middle-grade audience, it could have benefited from a slightly darker tone and more complex themes to make it more appealing to older readers.

Overall, Devil on Her Shoulder is a visually captivating and enjoyable graphic novel showcasing its creators' talents. Despite minor flaws, it offers an engaging and magical adventure that will delight fans of fantasy and graphic novels alike. Thanks to NetGalley and Europe Comics for the free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very fast paced witchy graohic novel, and I enjoyed it!

I absolutely loved the illustrations and it kinda felt like each oage has a colour scheme, there was never too many colours that could make it a bit overwhelming, it was great. That being said the illustrations were very detailed.

I do wish it was longer so I could’ve gotten to know the characters a bit more, but overall it was a quick and fun read!

I enjoyed reading Norah’s adventure after the Bruja goes missing, it was definitely interesting and there were some parts of dialogue that made me laugh!

I am giving Devil on her Shoulder 4 stars and I would want to read more by Cédric Mayen and Sandra Cardona!

This one, this one you should get!

It was perfection!

The character designs, the story, the depiction of hell, I was in for the ride and I enjoyed every second. My favorite wee the demon designs. I almost felt tears when we got to the story of the lost brothers.

Please do not look up to much, just buy it!

Rating: 6/10 – 3 stars of 5
Genre: Fantasy Graphic Novel

This graphic novel talks about a 17 years old, non-magic witch who has to make a deal with Lucifer to find her auntie, the Bruja, who has disappear.

I loved so much the graphic design and I liked Norah as the main character, and her relationship with the rest. There are some little plot twist that make the story better.

It appealed me by its cover and description, but I kept reading because of how adorable and cute it was.

I can say I loved the artwork, but story is maybe for younger people. Some things were happening really fast and the author leaves a lot of things without explanation. Maybe I would love this ebook more if art were a little darker and story a little more adult, but that’s really cool for a middle grade audience.

However, it’s a stunning graphic novel where we can find a girl who’s trying to do her best to be like the rest. Sometimes, being different makes you special on your own.
