Thank you NetGalley, Publishers, and Jean-Baptiste Saurel for gifting me a copy of Treasure in return for my honest opinion.

3/5 stars

There's no such thing as pirates. At least, not anymore. Treasure and his friends still like to pretend though, and what better prop than a real-life sailboat? But everything changes when The Brig is put on sale, and the gang realizes pirates may exist after all...

What I liked
-The story kept me entertained throughout
-Treasure was a very lovable character
-The imaginations of the kids while on their adventure

What I wish was better
-Character development, characters were introduced so quickly that I became confused with who was who.
-Pace was very fast so details weren't explained fully.

Final Thoughts
The plot of this graphic novel was a lot of fun and enjoyable to read. I wish the author had taken a moment to expand on details through out the story.

This is such an amazing work for children on Pirates and their adventures. These stories never failed to surprise the readers.

It is a story of a boy named Treasure who always tend to sail someday. He lost his mother to sail and his father who happen to be a cartographer for him, want to sell the very boat his mother left for him. The 'Brig', short for 'Brigantine' is that very boat. Treasure thought to save it from his father selling it. He made a plan and took his friends to sail on Brig in search of a Gem Stone he thought his mother was in search of.
There were pirates behind him (who want to buy that boat) and in the sea when they had to face the storm so hard, a pirate found their boat and save them from drowning.
There was his father behind him to save him and pirates too, to catch that boat so that they can get the idea for where that gem stone is.

There was lot of fun and adventure to read about. Hope this matter settles in the next book in series.

First of all I want to thank netgalley for providing me with the first volume of this graphic novel.

treasure tells us about a group of friends who constantly play pirates, they enjoy playing in an old boat belonging to the father of one of them, however everything changes when they put the boat up for sale, and they will do everything to avoid this, to the point who embark on a journey far from home.

Although it is a children's story, the story is beautiful, as the little one wants to keep alive something that he shared with his parents, the love for the pirate world, but that in his father was lost.
This first volume ends in a way that leaves you wondering if it's happening or if it's all part of the children's imagination. and I can't wait to see the next volume.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

A very cute, wonderful story, so the fun illustrations and characters. I would recommend it for most ages but especially kids 7-11. Interested in seeing more by the artist.

The one, that had me want to capture a ship and go on an adventure with my best mates.

Treasure by Jean-Baptiste Saurel and Pauline De La Provoté ✨

The story begins with Treasure, a boy with a big well of imagination, and his friends declaring the sailboat he inherited by his mom as their pirate ship. Nothing better to ground their treasure hunting play with the backdrop of a real-life boat until his dad decides to sell it. Plans are being made, maps drawn up and a treasure set to find in order to safe their boat...

This comic was fun to read. There were so many specific details to each of the kids mannerism, thought process and motivations. Many moments had me laughing out loud and for others i shed a tear because their feelings felt so genuine.

The story crosses the boundaries between reality and fantasy seamlessly but never fails to make sense within it all. I was never like "Hold up, this is not how treasure hunting normally works". I really appreciated the literal dive into fantasyland the moment it got serious and big emotions were in the forefront.

I loved the art style and using different frame colors to emphasize present story time and moments of remembering.

The only thing that had me frustrated was, that it ended and i now have to wait for the next book in this comic series😅🙈

3.5/5

What a cute, fun and light read.
Unfortunately being a first volume this was only part of the story.

The plot is very easy to follow, yet it's something that keeps you with the doubt of being real or imagination. Could it be both? Are our characters in fact just playing? Or are they really on some sort of adventure? Probably V2 will clear things out and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

This novel is suitable for all ages, even if youngsters will enjoy the read more.
Nothing too crazy happens, but a good time filler for sure!

A group of friends go on a pirate adventure and wind up on a magically-appearing island- What a great story for a kid's imagination! I LOVE the art style and there is some witty dialogue that amuses an adult but isn't too advanced that it will go over a kid's head.
The story moves very VERY quickly and characters are introduced so rapidly that I'm not exactly sure who is who. So much went on in just this volume that I feel like the story could have been slowed down and stretched out more but it might be just right for the attention span of a child. I also don't like the trope of 'adults are bumbling idiots and kids outwit them every time' but again, that is something that might appeal more so a child than an adult. Over all its a cute graphic novel!

I really wanted to like this book, however I struggled to stick with it. I had a hard time getting into the storyline. The illustrations were cute. Older readers may really enjoy this book, but for the purposes of reading for my own classroom I would not bring this book in.

A beautifully illustrated graphic novel about friendship, family and making your own adventures. I love the kids and their personalities and witty conversations. Who wouldn’t want to be a pirate? Treasure and his friends get a chance to do so on their mission to find his mother and save his ship from being sold. They encounter various obstacles but also find new supporting crew members along the way. At some points there is just a lot going on at once and it gets a little bit confusing. Overall I enjoyed this ambiguous story where you’re not really sure what is actually happening and what might just be their fantasies.

This is a to-be-continued episode but so much happens already. Fun pirates and robots in search of a treasure quest, adventure. Great artwork as always, Easy to read and has lots of humor with the exaggerated manga-inspired expressions. A group of friends is trying to save Treasure's pirate ship from being sold. The mother is disappeared in the sea no one knows what happened to her. The kids get into the ship and ran away with it, convinced that if they find the treasure they will solve it all, but their troubles have just started.

Treasure is a comic about a 9 year old boy of the same name whose Mum is allegedly a pirate (or is she as there is mystery surrounding this!) and left him an old boat that him and his friends play on. His Dad decides it's time to sell the boat and save some money so the story starts with the gang of friends planning a heist to svae the boat and what happens next! I loved the art style, I could fully imagine this being animated as the drawings were so dynamic. The group of friends all had individual personalities, the intrigue regarding Treasure's Mum and Dad's past was an interesting side story. I thought it was a great middle grade comic as there was plenty of text on the pages to be read, but that the artwork would help fill in gaps - especially at the start when there was French & English included.

I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley and I really enjoyed the sweet comic.

The combination of the art and the storytelling worked well together, putting a new twist on the story of children setting out to rescue their parents. The adventure and imagination of little kids is really captured well in the structure and pacing of the story. Overall, I found this to be a highly enjoyable romp that I would recommend to kids and adults alike.

This is a fun story with great drawings and an entertaining storyline, filled with adventure and the power of a creative mind.
I see this as the perfect beginning of a great graphic novel series, albeit a little bit on the shortish side and the ending felt slightly too abrupt.
We will definitely be looking for the sequel, both me and my graphic-novels-loving tween. My tween daughter says she is going to recommend this book to any kid who loves pirates and adventures.

Treasure and his friends love to pretend they are pirates- a perfect way to play on the brig- the boat Treasure's mom left him. When his dad decides it is time to sell the brig, Treasure knows he has to stop him so he can fufill his destiny as a pirate!

This was a fun story with great illustrations! As a volume 1 though it seemed to end far too early and left me feeling irritated rather than excited for the next volume to come out!

"It smells like crab, doesn't it?" "Yes, zombie crab..." "That or a kraken that lost its toothbrush." Treasure, Wiki and Yava have the imagination AND the vocabulary to play pirates and duel - rap battles style. They also have the courage to explore the unknown and stand up to bad guys of all sizes - while, little by little, they become real sea wolves... An excellent comic book debut - fresh script, mixing adventure, family drama and... magic, modern and expressive drawing, halfway between Franco-Belgian style and manga, and glittering and enchanting coloring. Go on, read this book - it's beautiful, it's catchy, you laugh a lot and you learn (a little) too. After all, "Bathyscaphe lot of Scrabble points" as Mollusk the android says :) (yeah, there's fantasy, wonder and science fiction mixed in here)... A book for both kids and adults, although the intended target are obviously the smaller readers, as demonstrated by the bonus games added at the end. Nice discovery. Four stars ‘cause I really liked it, although it’s not a masterpiece. Yet :)

This was rather cute and fun.
The children behaved in a rather weird manner to me in some places, but it was not that bad.
I adored the big adventurous journey the children are going on.
This was only the first volume, and I am intrigued to see how the story will continue.
Will definitely be reading the sequel.
