Every girl wants an Elijah in her life. But, more than anything, we need someone to make us remember we don't have to be 'perfectly fine' all the time. That's why I enjoyed this book so much.

I was so so excited about this book based on the synopsis, but I just never quite felt the click with it.

I truly TRULY wished I could love this book, maybe expectations were just too high, but it all felt flat. the dialogue’s a bit clunky and unnatural, I think the easiest way to explain it is that these characters are having like, full sentence conversations with each other all the time - it doesn’t actually mimic speech, which is just something that annoyed me

I didn’t really ship Autumn and Elijah, it felt a bit too forced for me and I couldn’t feel the chemistry. I’m not sure if this is classified romance, but this and the main plot just felt so disjointed, like, Elijah’s just *there*. I didn’t feel like it bought that much to the story.

main plot wise, it’s fun? but felt very anti climatic, especially when the reveal was done. I know this is all fiction and stuff, but it’s just doesn’t feel *real*. like drama for the sake of drama but it adds nothing to the plot. I didn’t feel like autumn had that much character development, I dunno, it just felt off

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an E-ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This book really wasn't for me. The premise was interesting, the characters were alright but they fell in love two soon. It's like they were just forced to live together, became roommates and then immediately feel in love.
The creepy gifts and messages that Autumn received could have been really interesting but it was just too much happening.

This book caught me by surprise. I picked it up thinking it would be a very generic rom-com, but it ended up having so much more to the plot. The two main characters had very fun relationship with a rocky start, but a tender and beautiful ending.

I did feel, at times, like the plot progression was clunky. While I appreciated the flashbacks from the fmc, they caught me off guard at times and I felt unsure as I was reading where the plot was headed.

thank you for providing me with an ARC!!!

the book started off very cute and was a lot of fun but I could not really connect with the characters and I am sadly not a fan of insta-love...

This book was cute! I didn't fall in love with the writing style (too much tell vs show) but overall it was a good book

Autumn, a talented pianist and sufferer of chronic pain, is forced to live with Elijah when he rents part of her home, unbeknownst to her. They have to get along with each other, and then make sense of their feelings. In the midst of all of this, Autumn is also receiving creepy gifts and messages to her.

While I ended up enjoying the characters, initially I was turned off by Elijah's intrusiveness and disrespect for her space, belongings, wishes, etc. I also wish there was a little more to the plot explaining what the characters noticed in each other that they liked.

Tropes you'll find: he falls first and harder, forced proximity, enemies to lovers,

Ms. Perfectly Fine
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Author: Kate Callaghan

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Kate Callaghan and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: Autumn moved into this house as a way to become independent after a tragic accident left her with chronic pain. She is a famous concert pianist looking to make a big comeback. Unbeknownst to her, her landlord (and friend) rented out half of the house to Elijah Wells. Autumn refuses to move out and Elijah is just as stubborn. This novel has romance, romcom, and even a little suspense sprinkled in. It follows the tropes of forced proximity, enemies to lovers, and grumpy v sunshine. The author does a good job representing chronic pain, I suffer with chronic pain in both of my feet and have had a few surgeries with some relief but still suffer daily.

The story is narrated by both Autumn and Elijah and we get mini flashbacks for Autumn and her tragic accident. Autumn is strong, independent, introverted, and fierce. Elijah is pining head over heels for Autumn, extroverted, and is trying to make something of himself. The author does an amazing job at mental health representation and does it respectfully with grace. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, chemistry, and intriguing. The author’s writing style was complex, suspenseful, swoony, twisty, and creatively blended romance with suspense. I thought the pacing and flow was spot on and built the appropriate tension for the suspenseful part of the story.

This was a cute story that keep me glued towards the end with suspense. Overall, this was a great book that I enjoyed. I would highly recommend picking up.

What a great read! I thought it would be some usual story with that same stuff but it wasn't! I literally didn't want it to finish but it had to one day. 🙂

- Romance with some mystery and thriller! Ohhh, it's one of my favourite combinations! It had all I could ask for in a book of this genre.
- Loved the chemistry between the main characters. They felt so realistic. Miss their cute fights!
- Brinkley and Todd have my heart. (and those scenes when they got into the house for the first time 🤣)
- The mystery was good though I predicted it long ago. But some things are still unclear, eg - that phone call from Autumn when Elijah was in his mother's house.
- We got to see the relationship between Elijah and Tim. But why Autumn's parents were only in one episode? (that's too only her mother) I wanted to see her bond with her family, specially her father but we didn't even get to hear from him once.

But my love for this book is way too much that I can easily forget the things I dislike.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a free e-book of the book.

This was a book I requested based solely on the cover. I’m slowly working through my backlog of ARCs (SORRY AUTHORS 💀) and this was one that has been a long time coming.

Ms Perfectly Fine - also known as Autumn Adler - is a concert pianist with a tragic backstory. After surviving a stage collapse in her youth, she’s coming back to the stage and wanting to prove to everyone that her past is behind her, and that she can still play at the level people expect. Riddled with chronic pain, Autumn gets a rude awakening when Elijah Wells moves into her house. Unexpectedly.

But it’s fineeeee. Right?

Elijah is a game developer and also her landlord’s son. The two of them share a space and learn to work with one another. OBVIOUSLY, feelings happen. You can’t have forced proximity without feelings in my world ;D But the way these two come together, and their banter, GUH. It’s fabulous and I loved it.

There’s also a romantic suspense element because someone is stalking Autumn. I wish that element had been played up a little bit more - it was pretty sporadic - but overall this was a good read for me and I’m happy I finally got around to reading it!

Yikes. I liked the idea for this book, but the execution is a mess! The plot is very scattered; there are lots of little quippy interactions that don't lead anywhere. It seems the writing focused more on "banter" instead of developing the plot or building chemistry between Autumn and Elijah.

The "hate" part of this story is way out of line: he was stealing her prepped food, and she stole his credit card?? None of this was cute. Both characters are incredibly immature, and having them suddenly be into each other comes out of nowhere.

By the time I got to the exceptionally ridiculous suspense element, I was completely over it. This book is a mess.

The second-hand rage I felt in the opening chapter when someone just moved into her house--renting, but still--and moved her stuff was immense. I wasn't sure how the MMC was going to be able to redeem himself after that, and clearly the FMC wasn't either. But this book was the perfect blend of romance and personal growth for the characters. I loved the chronic illness representation and am so glad to see more of that in books. The end was twisty and I loved it. Overall, a great read.

This was a NetGalley review.

I ultimately liked this book and am glad I stuck it out.
It wasn’t without its struggles. I found the whole setup rather unbelievable, never having heard of a landlord just deciding to allow someone else to rent half your space.
Getting past that, I really enjoyed the relationship between Elijah and Autumn. I picked up the subtle clues on the stalker subplot and found the whole thing rather enjoyable. I enjoy an external obstacle coming between the romantic characters.
I enjoyed the exploration of Autumn’s chronic pain and how she dealt with the day to day. Her character development was captured very well. Elijah also had a good character arc and I felt they both earned their AHA moment at the end.
I felt like the final twist wasn’t earned though. No one is that good an actor to play a six year long game, so again I was thrust into the world of the unbelievable.
Overall I would recommend this book as a nice light read.

Cute story, nice characters. Felt a bit slow to begin with, and I didn’t immediately click with the main characters, but the relationship developed in a nice way.

2.5

What I will write will be similar to many other reviews by other readers/readers who have had the opportunity to read this book before me. So I’ll just be essential.
The plot and cover play a nice role and were the ones that led me to request an ARC of this book. It is not a bad read if the tropes it presents attract you. Unfortunately for me, the premises have not won me over. The reasons are essentially these:
-writing style. I’m not so inclined when authors go on describing things rather than showing them and this book is an example.
-characters and their chemistry. Since the period of their cohabitation is short there was to imagine the insta-lovers, one of the tropes that I don’t appreciate. Other than that, I have to say the characters didn’t tell me anything. I found them two-dimensional and I’m sorry to say this ‘cause they have interesting backstory. I didn’t perceive the Grumpy (Her) x Sunshine (Him) 'cause she seemed more irritating than grumpy, while his sudden change of personality was skeptical to me.
- mystery. I’m not an expert in this genre but still, two doubts arose when I read about Autumn’s situation. Beware that there is SPOILER so SKIP THIS PART. Why didn’t Autumn do anything in the three years she received the roses? She didn’t install cameras or hire a detective. But, above all, if you know this mysterious person send you flowers on the same day, how is it that you didn’t start to personally check? This is my consideration and I would have preferred that there was a scene where Autumn went to the cemetery to find her missing friend, to give more tact to this sphere of mystery. Because as I said before, the author has nothing but to tell the story, but there is no living through the perspective of the characters.

Concert pianist Autumn Adler is a recluse, imprisoned by her trauma from an accident and the resulting chronic pain

One day game designer Elijah Wells moves into her townhouse...only no one told Autumn and she's furious.

But throw in some undeniable attraction and someone stalking Autumn and maybe they'll just find a way to get along.

I found these characters hard to get to like. Elijah particularly rubbed me the wrong way with the arrogant way he moved into the townhouse with no regard for his housemate.

While the story was sweet in the end, that first impression stuck.

It would look like a cute read but its a insta love, fast paced messy book. I mean it was okay not what I expected by reading the blurb.
Not my cup of tea.

Read if you like,
- reverse Grumpy Sunshine
- He falls first and harder
- Forced Proximity/ roommates
- Enemies To Lovers
- Chronic Pain rep

I really enjoyed the first half of this book - forced proximity and enemies-to-lovers are some of my favorite tropes - but the second half unfortunately fell a little flat. I really liked Elijah and Autumn, and found them both to be really interesting characters, but their relationship felt a little too insta-lovey for me, though I know some people love that! The stakes weren’t high enough for me personally. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.
