An adorable romcom!

After all my historical roller coasters of books this was the perfect read!

With Callaghans original idea of the story and very good execution of it this was an absolutely delightful read! I was at the edge of my seat the whole time reading, easily devouring this in one sitting.

The two main MCs with their differences and witty banter made for a very entertaining duo. I found myself laughing, getting annoyed, and in short experiencing every emotion alongside them.

This was an adorable story that I will be keeping with me for a long time.

Absolutely recommend!

I loved this book, I read it in a day because I couldn't put it down. The two main characters just worked so well together, and the supporting characters had just enough bckstory that you were invested in them, knew them without them overtaking everything. Both the mystery and romance elements were a lot of fun, and though I wasn't hugely shocked by the twist, I still enjoyed it, because there was still elements that were unknown and so learning them was really nice. A very easy ready, brough a smile to my face. 5 star read for me.

Arc in exchange for an honest review!
(TW: Chronic Pain)
I applaud the author for not shying away from the topic of chronic pain without spoiling too much about the book.
I’ve been living with my own chronic pain since I was 21, and it’s not often that I feel a connection to a female main character in a novel.
We have our saucy and sassy main female character named Autumn, and she’s like the whirlwind that goes running into our male main character’s life aka Elijah’s life. She’s a piano prodigy with a hidden secret.
Then we have Elijah the video game nerd after my own heart, and I’m still swooning!
I’m weak for a hate to love romance novel so seeing Elijah and Autumn’s story is perfection. It’s a close proximity trope as well.
Read the novel and you’ll find out what happens. It’s a page grabbing novel from page 1.
Also Brinkley the dog deserves a shoutout!
I highly recommend the novel to anyone that is heavily into cute romances.

This book completely blindsided me in the best way possible. This stunning cover immediately caught my attention, and I feel in love with this story so quickly. While I have never and hope to never go through such traumatic physical pain, Autumn was so easy to relate to and root for. I understood her need to shut everyone out and appear to be 'unbothered', but it was obvious how kind, understanding, and strong she was. Elijah is everything I could ever want in a man. I loved his bubbly/happy personality and his need to make sure Autumn was happy (plus we love a man with dog and Brinkley was the sweetest). This story had all the tropes I could ever want- grumpy x sunshine, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, etc. and there was also a little mystery/thriller that I was not expecting, and it made the story even more exciting. I did find it a little predictable and knew who was behind the mystery way too early, but I still felt the tension between the characters when everything was revealed. I do wish we could have seen a little progress with Autumn and her parents since I feel like she had no real support for the longest time but overall, I thought the story was executed well. I love the representation of dealing with chronic pain after such a traumatic experience. Her pain was realistic and handled with such truth and care. I cannot image how hard it is to continue doing what you love after such a traumatic experience and Elijah was so accepting of her pain and never made her feel like she was any less because of it. Seeing the two overcome all their obstacles throughout the story was so inspiring and heartwarming. I’m so glad I picked this one up and would recommend to anyone who loves classical music and a little romantic suspense.

My thanks to NetGalley and Kate Callaghan for an ARC in exchange for an honest review .

Ms Perfectly Fine is a new adult novel written by Kate Callaghan.

Plot

Famous concert pianist Autumn Adler is making her stage comeback following a terrible accident. Elijah Wells, a game creator, holds a lease on the ground floor of her house from her landlord. Autumn is adamant on keeping her townhouse, but Elijah is just as obstinate. A gift that initially seems innocent changes into something much more ominous as Autumn's display draws near. Can the two come to terms and determine what is happening? Two strangers, one house, and a sinister mystery.

The plot of the book was good, but if I'm going to be honest, the suspense part of the book wasn't really necessary. The ending was full of plot twists, but unfortunately I predicted much of them.

Characters

Autumn Adler

Autumn is a pianist who suffered an accident while she was playing when she was sixteen. She got injured and now has chronic pains, she also lost her best friend in the accident.

While sometimes the main characters are a bit two dimensional, I really liked seeing her journey in this novel. Because of her accident, she was a very private person, so it was good seeing her finally starting to open up.

Elijah Wells

Elijah is the second protagonist and just like Autumn, a bit two dimensional at times. But, despite that I still found his character really sweet. I really loved how patience and attentive he was with Autumn and how much he supports and loves her.

Writing

This is my fourth book by Kate. I previously read her YA trilogy. While the writing here wasn't bad, I actually prefer her writing in the last novel of her YA trilogy. Now, because this is an early copy, I'm pretty sure the writing will be better in the final version.

Romance

This book is marked as enemies to lovers and while we have some of that in the beginning, I would love to see more of that side. I think they resolved their differences way to easily and I think they fell in love very quickly. Despite that, I still think their relationship was sweet and I liked some of their moments together. I just wish this could have been longer to give time for the author to explore more of the relationship between them.

Final Thoughts

It's still a very easy read and it has is funny moments.

Stranger/enemies become friends and more when they are thrown together living in the same house. Have to suspend disbelief here and there, but overall an entertaining rom com.

I wanted to like this book. The prologue started off well but I couldn’t get through the first chapter. I’ve had to dnf the book. The rom-com is just not for me.

The cover on this book really drew me in- it is beautiful! This is my first read by Kate Callaghan. It was a quick, easy read. Overall it had a good plot but just fell a little flat for me.

This book was fine, but not great. I had really high hopes for Ms. Perfectly Fine because the plot had so much potential. I love RomComs so I figured a couple forced to live together (9ne of which is a noisy pianist) would make a great story. And the added bonus of chronic pain and trauma would make it even more interesting. But the couple fell in love way too quickly and the mystery of the roses was totally unrealistic. It was not a terrible book, it was just okay,

SPOILERS INCLUDED: I was looking for a fun romance-mystery and hoped Ms. Perfectly Fine would fulfill that desire, but unfortunately like the title, this book was, at best, perfectly fine. The plotline was very easy to follow, and about halfway through through the book I had figured out the major twist, bar Heather being Lena, and the connection there. If a book is strong in its writing, a simple plotline can be forgiven, but I found that this was not the case with this book. The writing in some areas was weaker than others, which almost made it seem like this book was written by two different people. The action scenes followed a good pace, but inner monologue and some revelations seemed choppy and half thought out, much like the romance. Elijah seems to fall for Autumn right off the bat, even though the two were at each other's throats for the beginning of the story and barely had any common ground. The couple was never quite believable; their romance seemed incredibly rushed and only at the very end after Nina's betrayal did it finally make sense (to note: I'm not a huge fan of insta-love stories, so I might be being a little harsh here). If this book was shorter and more concise in its writing and plot, it could easily be at least three stars; likely I will not pick this up again for a reread.

I got the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley, and I am so glad I did.

This book will pull you in from the first page and before you know it it’s over. It is such a fun & quick romance with a touch of mystery. You can feel what the characters are feeling as you are reading it. Highly recommend to anyone who want a quick Beach Read; don’t forget there is some sexy scenes in there. I loved every moment and cannot wait for it to come out so I can get the physical copy.

It follows Autumn Adler a pianist who in her teens suffered a terrible accident that left her with scars more than physical ones. Autumn likes things her way and when; Elijah Wells; a complete stranger invades her home and her whole world is flipped upside-down.
It is an enemies to lovers in a forced proximity with dual POV’s, and it is focused on the topic of chronic pain. There is also LGBT+ representation in the side-characters.

I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review. I have to say, I’m a sucker for an enemies to lovers trope. This book started out so perfect for me. I loved the dynamic between Autumn and Elijah. I’m disappointed in some unnecessary plot lines. The roses plot line could have easily been left out. This book easily could have been 5 stars if it weren’t for that. It felt unnecessary and felt as though the author was trying to sneak in some suspense in a romance book. It just felt awkward.

This was a quick, quirky read. I really enjoyed the premise, and the bit of mystery int he story. I do wish the characters, especially the characters other than the male and female leads, had been developed a bit more. Overall, I enjoyed the premise of this, the twist was interesting, and I was intrigued enough by the story to keep reading and finish this pretty quickly! Also good disability representation for chronic pain.

Thanks to Netgalley, the Author and the Publisher for the advanced copy to review!

3.5 stars!

Meh. That's my whole review.
Okay it was a cute premise and I do love a good forced proximity and representation book, but this fell flat. It managed to both have too much going on with the side stories and not enough with the main focus. Some of the banter was fun but the MCs were so bad at communication it just felt forced.
Weird stalker side story. The false leads were too obvious and then the actual answer was in your face.
Easy read, just not the story for me.

Autumn was annoying to Elijah. She was too stubborn for so long that I disliked her. Elijah was great and he may deserve better treatment in the beginning. Moving on from that, loved the plot. Autumn's turmoil with getting back to music was perfect. I wanted a little more about her back injury. The twist! Yes.

This was a fun, quick read. I enjoyed the added mystery/suspense element as a different aspect in this romance. Unfortunately the actual romantic relationship fell flat for me. The dialogue between the two main characters felt forced at times, and I found the transition from 'enemies' to lovers a bit too forced and unbelievable.

This was a great read! I loved the mystery aspect that the author added to this romance. It was refreshing to read a romance that had more going onto the plot than just the love story between the main characters. The characters were so easy to fall in love with too. The cover of this book alone cased me to further investigate the description. Great job on the artwork! This is title that I would have to pick up at a bookstore because it is so pretty.

The characters were really likeable, fun. The writing is not what I typically like to read, but it captivated me quickly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A really entertaining and well-written read! I have broken down the review below:

⭐️ The storyline was really good, I love the forced proximity trope and loved the reactions when they both found out they would be living together. For me, I’m not a fan of books where the guy falls very quickly and this was the case for this book.

⭐️ I loved Autumn and there was good representation for chronic illnesses. Likewise, Elijah’s character was brilliant. I feel that they both had depth to them.

⭐️ There was a very good plot twist (won’t specify what this is as don’t want to spoil it for future readers). The only thing I would say is that the “mystery” part of the book could have been more of a focus in the book rather than it being in the background. I felt that it was rather rushed too.

Overall, I would give this 3.5 stars. I did really enjoy reading the book and I loved the characters but I felt like the plot could have been improved! This is however my own personal preference.

this was easy and quick to read, and both Autumn and Elijah's individual backstories were interesting. And sure, it lacked a bit of substance, but I've read worse.
