What an exciting, gripping and tense read this is. What starts off as a simple house visit from a potential purchaser soon turns into a tale of terror, danger and suspense. There is more to all the characters than is initially evident, the twists and turns are superb and the ultimate unravelling very satisfying. I loved it!

This book is the perfect example of a page-turner. It was such a gripping read!
I was constantly on the edge of my seat, and wondering where on earth the plot was going. Not a lot of plot happened in the first 50% of the book - usually I would have been annoyed by this and wanted to DNF, however, it's a credit to Ewan's writing style that I was still hooked.
The pay-off was worth it, as the (long-awaited) twist came from completely left field and I had no idea what was coming. I loved it. Properly shocked!
I really enjoyed this book, and sped through it!

The only reason I didn't give this book the full 5*, was that the final 15% was just nuts and got a little far fetched and crazy for me.

What a great read this was. The atmosphere is tense right from the beginning with lots of twists and turns. I just couldn't put this book down until I had finished. Definitely one for readers who love a good thriller this book is highly recommended.

Sam inherited his grandparents house and both he and his girlfriend Lucy have been lovingly restoring it over the last couple of years with the intention to sell it and go travelling, the viewings are normally carried out by the estate agent, Bethany but today she is running late so Lucy will need to show the potential buyer round herself while Sam is at work. The viewing starts off fine but Lucy gets the feeling that Donovan isn't really interested in the house at all, then he reveals something about her and the events that follow have far reaching consequences for everyone involved...

The House Hunt is the latest nail biting thriller by Ewan, told from a dual perspective of both Lucy and Sam, the author takes us on a rollercoaster ride to hell and back where Lucy faces some of her worst fears. It's a fast paced read with a great premise and you think you know where it's heading until that twist hits you like a sledgehammer and you're left dazed, confused and flicking back the last couple of chapters certain you've missed something, but then the final piece of the jigsaw slots into place and you realise you never really had a clue at all! Another tense read, with great characterisation and if you want a book that will keep you second guessing throughout, this is definitely one for you.

I'd like to thank Pan Macmillan and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

I read this book in 24hours ! And I think my heart pounded for nearly all the time I was reading it !
Lucy and Sam are a couple selling sams house he was left by his Nan , Lucy was an interior designer and fell in love with Sam leading her to help him rebuild and design his house .
Eventually the house needed to go on the market and whilst Sam was holding a support group for people with phobias Lucy reluctantly showed a man around the house . From that point on nothing was ever the same and the twists and turns murders and stalkings had me on edge the whole way threw ! Lucy is in fact Louise but why is she going by the name Lucy and why is the guy viewing the house more interested in Lucy than the house ! And why is someone following Sam !

Lucy’s partner, Sam inherits a house in London and they sink all their capital into renovating it.
They now need to sell it to keep their heads above water.
When the estate agent is running late, Lucy agrees to show perspective buyer, Donovan around.
But there’s something about him that makes her feel uneasy.
She soon discovers it isn’t the house, but her he’s interested in.
A heart-pounding, taut claustrophobic thriller.
Loved how each chapter ended with a cliff hanger, teasing you to learn more.
Also the fear and phobia timelines of Sam and Lucy were so cleverly intertwined.
Thanks @c.m.ewan @panmacmillan & @netgalley for the eARC

BRILLIANT! This had me completely hooked and I read it in a day staying up late to finish it. I lived the different POVs and the intertwined stories. LOVED the ending and how everything fell into place and THAT TWIST! I audibly shouted at my phone!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advance copy to read and review.

The story follows Sam and Lucy who are trying to sell their newly renovated property. Lucy suffers with phobias and anxieties but has to show the property to Donovan alone causing her to face some of her fears.

This is a fast paced, twisty and suspenseful book. Really enjoyable read that flew past in no time at all. I did see most the twists coming but it was executed brilliantly.

This would make a brilliant movie. I would definitely recommend a read especially if you're in a reading slump.

4 stars.

I received an E-ARC with a request for my honest review.

This terrifying thriller is set in London and follows Lucy and Sam, who are trying to sell their home which they have spent a lot of time renovating.

A viewing is booked; however, the estate agent calls Lucy and says she is running late, and she must start the viewing herself. Lucy has anxieties due to a past event in her life, so she is hesitant but pushes through as they need to sell the house.

When the viewer arrives, he seems friendly enough, but as the they get further through the house Lucy starts to think not is all it seems.

Is Lucy just struggling with her fears? Or is something more sinister about to happen?

This thriller had me gripped throughout and I found it terrifying, I even told my husband yesterday I would never do a viewing on my own after reading this book.

Lucy is a strong character which I always love, especially as she doesn’t believe this about herself in the beginning but grows with confidence throughout.

There is an interweaving storyline with Sam as he heads up a support group with people dealing with phobias, to try and assist them. This adds to the plotline, and builds the suspense, although I won’t say how.

Overall, a terrifying thriller which will put you off anyone viewing your house when you are alone.

What a fantastic book. A storyline well crafted, full of unexpected surprises and twists - very difficult to guess what the next reveal was to be.

The story zipped along but kept the suspense going evenly.

If you want a fresh take on a well-trodden story telling path, then this is the book for you.

Thoroughly recommended.

Lucy lives with her boyfriend Sam in London; their lives have been taken over doing up the house left to him by his grandparents. But the project is almost finished and, reluctantly, they will sell and go travelling with the funds. Lucy has issues, past traumas, so she has asked the estate agent Bethany to handle all the viewings if Sam is at work.

Today a prospective purchaser is due to arrive and Bethany is running late so Lucy has to step in. And there begins a series of events that will change her life. Donovan appears a friendly, keen buyer at first, but Lucy's radar is signalling danger. The results will shine the light on her past and dramatically affect her future.

Its a good read, tense and gripping. I did think it lost a little traction in the second half, and I remained a bit puzzled about the role in the story of Sam's therapy group folk. I also was puzzled at the length of time it took the emergency services to arrive to an address in the centre of London; I live rurally and would have expected a quicker response!

But overall its a good psychological thriller, the characters are well presented and the reader engages with the plot. Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A quick read and was shocked when saw I had just read 428 Pages, it seemed a lot less than that
It starts really well, a nervy character having to do her own house viewing while her boyfriend is running a self help group on phobias….and the man who comes to view the house is ‘off’ somehow, another one of those ‘something is about to happen please run away now’ kind of reads…as an aside the self help group chapters were very interesting, looking at the characters various phobias and how they were affecting their lives on a daily basis
Then we reach the crux of the matter and I don’t know, it’s viable and it was shocking but there was much, and I mean much adrenaline pumping, cortisol whizzing and varying descriptions of fear and anxiety that started to, tbh, get on my nerves!
A bit of a confusing last quarter and neat yet ‘oh right’ ending made this, for me,whilst at times a fascinating insight into the human mind at others an overly descriptive wordy read
I finished it though so on balance was just more positive than negative

This was my first book I’ve read by CM Ewan and I'm certain it wont be my last.
Was a bit of a slow burn to begin with but then all of a sudden it picked up rapidly. It had me guessing constantly right until the very end. It had me suspecting everyone and I couldn't put it down!
Thank you for the advanced copy I will recommend.

A superb piece of writing from Chris Ewan. In this novel we are in a seemingly simple situation until everything changes and everything you think you know is not as it seems. Written with pacy chapters the action switches between the main characters driving the reader on. This novel perfectly changes momentum giving the reader time to take breath, in fact there are some sections where you need to remember to breathe! There are some parts of the narrative that are truly chilling and you are able to empathise with the characters well. The book cleverly plays with everyday fears and weaves these into the storyline. This book will make a superb film, the setting will translate easily and the way the narrative unfolds would give the special effects team some fun.

Definitely Chris's best book to date, would recommend without hesitation. It is a cliche to say that a book is hard to put down but in this case it is true.

5*

Do we ever really know who we are letting into our homes? What starts off as a seemingly innocuous house showing turns into something far more sinister. I do like this author's writing style, it's engaging and clever and I always want to read more.
