I was gripped from the start of this book and was excited to see where the story was going to go.
I found the story unpredictable and enjoyed the many twists that each chapter revealed.
I will definitely read more of C.M. Ewans books. Thank you @netgalley for the early read.

The House Hunt is a gripping and twisty domestic thriller that kept me reading past my bedtime! With plenty of twists and turns, this book is one that I didn’t want to put down, 5 stars from me!

I'm never a big fan of overly descriptive writing and this had it in bucket loads. I just think it's not necessary to go around the houses to discribe something that you could have done in fewer more concise words.

My thanks to NetGalley and Pan MacMillan for a copy of” The House Hunt” for an honest review.

This was certainly a very fast paced and suspenseful book that had many twists and turns.
Unfortunately I seem to be in the minority that didn’t really enjoy it.I wasn’t a fan of the style of writing, with the very descriptive short sentences
I actually liked the beginning of the book but then , for me, things became too far fetched.I hadn’t realised I’d reviewed a previous book by C M Ewan , that I also had problems with.
I’ll give this an average mark but it won’t make me feel like reading any more of Ewan’s books in the future

When Lucy has to show her house to a potential client it sets off a chain of terror for herself and her boyfriend Sam .Full of twists and turns the author draws the reader right in .One i simply could not put down .

Like his last book ‘The Interview’, CM Ewan tales a familiar, stressful-but-everyday scenario and slowly cranks the natural discomfort of the protagonist into something very much outside the ‘normal’ . Here a dual narrative plays out as we see a house viewing interspersed with a therapy session: the author building up tension and a something is not quite right vibe for the first 20% of the book then going full tilt into everything is very wrong.
Like The Interview, it’s a strong premise that doesn’t let up once the action starts.

A bit of a slow start but I felt this was needed in places to help with the build up of the story and the characters.

The story focuses around Lucy who had to show around her house she shares with her boyfriend Sam, a potential buyer, Donovan.

Donovan was a bit creepy from the start and Lucy wasn't without her issues - she has claustrophobia and is very anxious. She is trying to remember an incident from her past where she fears she has been attacked. It is clear from the off (and the blurb) that Donovan has a hidden agenda.

The story moves to Sam from chapter to chapter, who is hosting a phobia session with clients as he researches phobias. Lucy is desperate for Sam to come home to save her.

The House Hunt - C M Ewan

I really enjoyed this psychological domestic thriller. Fast-paced and a definite “just one more chapter” read. Very much a ‘read in one day’ twisty thriller.

I was interested in the subject matter (no spoilers) and thought the way the book was written was original and a clever take on the genre. The characters were believable and well written. I was hoping for retribution for the ‘baddy’ as much I was rooting for the protagonist.

It starts off simple enough, an estate agent is running late and asks the home-owner to show a prospective buyer around. Pretty quickly things start to unravel and from there the tension is never-ending.

A tense and claustrophobic read; I’ll be reading more by C M Ewan on the strength of this book. Highly recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

What a book! This is inevitable definitely not to be missed. It's cleverly written and keeps up a good pace throughout. There's an underlying atmosphere of tension and the storytelling is so vivid that it's like actually being there with the characters. Or at least watching it all play out on TV. The twists and turns in this are nothing short of masterful, ots amazingly well plotted out and executed. I read this whilst on the treadmill and I've never felt an hr fly by so quickly. It's impossible not to get completely lost in the story and to become invested in the outcome. The characters are so well written and human that it makes relating to them incredibly easy. This is what all other domestic thrillers aspire to be! An absolute must read

I liked it, a good read from the start, it did take a bit to get into but I’m glad I finished it as it got better and better

I highly recommend this brilliant, claustrophobic thriller. The plot is very unique and the writing superb.
I raced through it and loved the ending. A great read; quite possibly one of the best books of 2023.

This is one of the most claustrophobic thrillers I’ve read in a while – set in and around two homes in a charming neighbourhood. The plot goes to show that you never know what is really happening behind closed doors. An estate agent rings to say they’re delayed but can Lucy, who is trying to sell her and her partner’s home, let the potential buyer in for a look around. Already hyped up, Lucy reluctantly agrees and so begins a strange and drama heavy tour of the beautifully designed home. But when things start to go awry, Lucy asks the buyer to leave… but he won’t. In fact, he’s more than happy to stay and share some secrets with you (and threats, let’s be honest). It soon becomes clear that the buyer isn’t interested in the home, but in the seller… Ooh er. The plot is nicely paced with plenty of red herrings to get you utterly confused before the ending.

Thanks first must go to the publisher, Netgalley and C.M Ewan for the ARC of ‘The House Hunt’.

Chris has done it again, I feel like I’ve just spent 3 hours on a rollercoaster!! His best work yet, by far with incredible pace. I thought I had it figured out half way through, but then the pace increases even more and there is an almighty twist.

Read in one sitting and by far one of the best books I’ve read this year!

Thanks Netgalley and Pan macmillan for the arc of the house hunt by C M Ewan.

I have previously read the interview by this author and loved it.

This one had a bit of a slow start but wow, then it picked up and left me stunned. Highly recommend!

I thought I wasn’t going to enjoy this book at the beginning, I even went as far as to mumble “boring” then BANG! It’s up and running.
Peaked my anxiety. Definitely not a calming ride.
Thank you NetGalley & C M Ewan for an advanced copy of this definitely not boring book.

The action packed second half makes up for the slow start in this tense psychological thriller. I usually find with this genre that clues provided throughout mean I’m able to guess the twist but the author gives nothing away until the very end which made it even more shocking.

Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for this ARC.

"The House Hunt" by C. M. Ewan is a riveting and suspenseful thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The premise of an unexpected house tour turning into a nightmare is both intriguing and chilling. Ewan's writing is taut and gripping, building tension with each page as the protagonist realizes the danger they are in. The psychological twists and turns in the plot add to the suspense, making this a fast-paced and engaging read. Fans of suspenseful thrillers with unexpected twists will find "The House Hunt" to be a compelling and gripping page-turner.

Having read the Interview by the same author I was really interested in this novel, because the Interview was brilliant. This describes a woman left alone to do a viewing of a house because Bethany, the estate agent, is running late and Sam, her partner, is not available. It is difficult for her to do a viewing because she has claustrophobia, but she invites the male viewer in anyway. The atmosphere is tense from the beginning and I couldn't put the book down until I had finished. I will not reveal any more of the plot for fear of spoiling the novel, but for readers who love a good thriller this book is highly recommended.

I immediately clicked “request” when I saw C. M. Ewan’s name. Last year, I read The Interview, which was so impressive in terms of the tiny details, hints and scene-to-scene progression the author had introduced into that story. It felt like every single piece of information was there for a reason and, in the end, all of it effortlessly played into answering the main story question. The House Hunt has a similar signature Ewan’s premise: a woman comes face-to-face with a stranger looking for answers.
This isn’t a light read but it does read easily even though there are plenty of descriptions of the setting and character appearances which are largely incorporated through some sort of action. The author has an incredible skill of creating tension and intrigue. It is a slow-burn that keeps you in your toes.
I really enjoyed The Interview, but The House Hunt is another level of twists and reveals. I just couldn’t put it down. Thank you so much, Pan Macmillan, for giving me a chance to read it early.
