After the North Korean dictator threatens to shoot nuclear missiles at the U.S., eight-year-old Rachel sees a vision. God's Light can save the world. She begins sharing her story with select people, including her single and stressed mom, an overlooked but brilliant physicist professor and a high school drop-out young adult. Each of these characters, including a TV station crew and the President of the U.S. will play a role in the drama. Will everyone listen to Rachel - and God - or lose their lives?
I enjoyed the drama's unfolding. I definitely wanted to finish the story and hear the ending.
The writing is more telling than showing. It contains some sexual innuendo and drug use, too, and lots of drinking.
The faith element is present but not preachy. The story can remind readers to continue pressing into God and trusting His voice above all others.

Netgalley and Brian Dale Nelson have provided me with a copy of God's First Light for review:

We are inextricably bound to what we believe to be true, even to our very lives. God's First Light is a faith-based thriller about a young prophet who must convince a brilliant physicist to unleash a primordial light that has not been seen since the beginning of time. There was a light that had the power to disarm a rogue dictator who had threatened the United States with a nuclear strike if sanctions were not lifted within seven days. The threat was not taken seriously by anyone, not even the president.

In the face of ridicule and rejection, Rachel plunged into the teeth of a deadly storm in an attempt to save us from ourselves. The story is one of courage and conviction, of purpose and identity, and will inspire and uplift those who read it.

I give God's First Light five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!
