Diving into a book by Susan Lewis I always know I am going to enjoy it, but I must confess I only discovered her a few years ago - so I had a no idea that her latest book, I know It’s You, is actually her 50th book. That is a an incredible achievement in itself - but this “book within a book” proves why she is such a successful author. Its a clever and original concept with a storyline that kept me guessing and kept me reading.

Marina works in publishing and is sent the first chapter of a book written by an anonymous author by literary agent and close friend Noel, with a specific request for Marina to provide feedback. As Marina receives further chapters of the book, she begins to suspect that this is a novel based on things that have happened in her own life. But who is behind the book and what are they hoping to achieve?

It is a book that takes a little getting to grips with as you get to to know the characters, and their parallel characters in the manuscript but as soon as that clicks into place it becomes a very clever way of revealing Marina’s past. I found myself changing my mind constantly as I wasn’t sure who to trust or what to believe - and it kept me surprised right to the end.

This is Susan Lewis’ 50th novel and it’s fabulous. Marina is married to Maxim and they both work in publishing. Marina heads up the fiction department and Maxim runs the company which is the British arm of his American families corporation. Maxim and Marina live a wonderful life with their twins switching between their home in London and their weekend retreat in the Cotswolds. Everything is perfect, right up until their friend and literary agent Noel sends Marina the first chapter of a novel he’s been sent , by an anonymous prospective new client. Suddenly Marina’s world is turned upside down and she doesn’t know what to think or whom to believe.

A fabulous, edge of your seat, read that had me enthralled right from the start. The ‘did she’ or ‘didn’t she’ becomes so entangled that even as the reader I couldn’t be sure. Another incredible read from this great writer, roll on novel 51.

This is my first read by author Susan Lewis and I will be reading more of her work as I thoroughly enjoyed I Know It's You.

I did find it quite confusing at times but really glad that I stuck with it in the end.

We meet publisher Marina, married to the big boss Maxim and a transcript is sent via email to her, just the very first chapter. Marina reads it and it pulls at her heart strings, as she feels that the chapter rings some similar truths to actually her real life. As the chapters keep coming, she starts to realise that the book is actually based on something that happened to her many years ago, but she has no idea who the writer is and obviously this gets her thinking.

The concept of "a book within a book" was really interesting and I found although there were many characters to figure out who was who I think it made for a very intriguing and thrilling read.

Thanks to Susan Lewis, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review..

I've always found the author's novels a little bit hit and miss but continue to read them on the strength of the No Child of Mine trilogy which was a powerful and moving read.
I Know It's You is a very different novel. Marina, is a publisher and when one of her colleagues insists she reads a new manuscript Marina is convinced the writer knows all about her past. Marina's present day story is told alongside excerpts from the manuscript, a novel set within a TV production company mirroring Marina's own experience within the publishing world. I found the manuscript excerpts tedious and could not engage with the storyline as a whole. I was extremely confused by the number of characters and who was supposed to represent who in the two worlds. A disappointing read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

I usually enjoy Susan Lewis but this one failed to grab my interest. Not sure if it was the characters or plot that didn’t inspire me.

I have loved every single one of Susan's earlier books but I found this one to be a real struggle. So many characters in the dual storyline. I just couldn't keep track of them all. Sadly this one isn't for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

What an amazing achievement 50 published novels is! And what a book to write for your 50th. Such a unique and interesting way to write a story.

I feel this book is a slight shift for Susan Lewis. Not her usual style it is more thriller than usual. At first I missed her characteristic in depth characters, as the book within the book prevented us getting to know the characters well early on. However as the book progressed the characters built and the relationships started to be revealed.

I liked the mystery of not knowing who was the reliable narrator.

A triumph!

Thank you to #Netgalley and #HarperCollins for my copy of #IKnowIt’sYou by #SusanLewis.
Marina has her perfect life, a husband she adores, gorgeous twin girls and her dream job publishing books.
When she receives a request from a close friend and agent to read a new submission she quickly realises this is her life story, or at least this persons version of it. As more and more chapters are delivered her horror grows.
Read it you won’t be able to put it down.

My thanks to HarperCollins U.K. for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘I Know It’s You’ by Susan Lewis.

This novel marks Susan Lewis’ 50th novel, which is quite an achievement. As this was my first experience of her writing, I am unable to judge whether it is typical of her style.

The novel is set in London where Marina Forster heads Janus, the successful fiction imprint of Hawksley Maine, an international publishing house. Literary agent, Noah, brings her a manuscript from a new writer. Usually Marina would assign this task to one of her staff, but Noah says that the author is insisting that she be the one to assess it.

It’s an unusual request but she finally agrees. As Marina reads the first chapter of ‘That Girl’ by E.L. Stalwood, she realises that the manuscript is a thinly veiled account of traumatic events in her past that involves both her current and ex-husbands along with various others.

As further chapters arrive Marina seeks to uncover the identity of the writer uncertain of what they trying to do with this roman à clef. Marina becomes increasingly anxious and obsessed. No further details to avoid spoilers.

I have no objections to books within books and while it had its moments, unfortunately this novel just didn’t work for me. There were a lot of characters both in the real world of the novel and in the fictional world of the manuscript, where the setting is changed from a publishing house to a tv production company.

I ended up making myself a character list of ‘who was who’ in both settings just to keep everyone
straight. In addition, I frequently found myself confused about what was going on. I also didn’t find any of the characters likeable with Marina particularly unsympathetic. As a result, it was hard to feel particularly engaged though I did read to the end.

Overall, I decided that ‘I Know It’s You’ just wasn’t my cup of tea though clearly Susan Lewis’
has plenty of regular readers who have enjoyed it.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

a good psychological thriller that keeps you guessing right to the end what is happening and what the outcome is going to be...

though a bit confusing at times with the all the names and pseudo names it was compelling reading

I have loved Susan's earlier books but I found this one to be a real struggle. The dual storyline made it difficult to keep track of characters. Sadly this one isn't for me.

An interesting storyline, but found the book within a book a little confusing and ended up mixing up some of the characters. Would have preferred a more definitive ending.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Marina is a publisher, and she receives the starting chapters of a book, by an author who isn’t revealing their identity. She doesn’t find that strange, but this author specifically asked for her.

Marina begins to read the story, she knows what it’s about, because, what’s written is.. her story.

This book has you turning the pages, wanting to know what happens next. There was lots of twists and turns.

I highly recommend this book.

This is an interesting premise to have a 'book within a book'. I loved the main plot and characters who were well fleshed out and interesting. The other book wasn't as enjoyable to read and there was a lot of repetition leading up to the final reveal I didn't love the ending but really enjoyed parts of the novel. Some of it was too far fetched and seemed a bit ridiculous but it was a page turner and I did want to get to the end.

Thanks netgalley for the Arc!
