I really wanted to like this a lot more than I did - it sounded just like something I'd love. I'm not sure exactly where it fell over in the execution, for me, and wondered if perhaps I needed to have already known Mrs Sidhu from the radio shows perhaps?
It does have all the elements for a cosy crime- a village fete, a suspicious murder, a mental health and wellbeing retreat venue all in a village with a gruesome murder in the past! But I took a long time to get any kind of feel for Mrs Sidhu and even by the end I wasn't quite sure who she was, how old she was, or how I felt about her.
Aspects of the story did tickle me - when she sets up an emergency office in her toilet, for example, to escape her sister in law!
But I think I just wanted a little bit more all round...a bit more character, and a bit more humour, and a bit more to Mrs Sidhu.

Mrs Sidhu is already a legend on the radio and this book does not disappoint
Strange goings on in a Berkshire village and sanctuary with murders linked to a past event.
Well plotted and good fun.

This is definitely a delightful and fun read and I enjoyed the warm cosyness of it. It was just a fun book to read with good characters and was such an easy read that I did read it in one sitting.
I liked the foodie theme to it as well and found it a rather light, fun and entertaining read. I would give it 3 1/2 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I loved this book. I read it in a day and it made me feel warm and cosy. Would definitely read more from this author.

If you're a fan of cosy crime, this is for you. Shades of Miss Marple, with a slight Indian twist, this is easy reading.
I didn't find Mrs Sidhu compelling - what age is she supposed to be? And why, if she's a great caterer would she make food in an inappropriate location.
The story and characters are also rather predictable.

Mrs. Sidhu's 'Dead and Scone' , is a mystery with the lead Mrs. Sidhu on a quest of Whodunnit , which is her favourite hobby in a way.
I for once couldn't guess the killer or the whole mystery spun by the author, so the writing did it's job for me. The lead character is someone who can easily be from people I am familiar with and her being a Desi aunty was absolute fun.
I enjoyed the little eccentricities of the characters and the whole world created in the story.
