I picked up "The Love Theorem" thinking it was going to be this super cute, nerdy romance, and… well, it was okay. I'm giving it two and a half stars (rounded to 3), because it wasn't bad, but it wasn’t amazing either.
Honestly, I think part of my problem was that I didn’t realize it was the fourth book in a series! Whoops. Maybe that’s why I felt a bit lost sometimes? I kept feeling like I was missing inside jokes or backstories between characters.
Cara, the main character, is supposed to be this math genius who's trying to figure out love with equations, which sounded fun! But it got old pretty fast. It felt like she was just throwing numbers at everything, and it didn’t feel real. Liam, the love interest, was… fine. He was nice, but kind of boring? I didn’t really see the spark.
The whole thing felt really predictable. Like, I knew exactly what was going to happen from the start. And the jokes? They just didn’t land for me. They felt forced, like the book was trying too hard to be funny.
It wasn't a terrible read, and if you just want something light and fluffy for the beach, it'll do. But it's not going to blow your mind. I think if I'd read the other books first, maybe I would have liked it more? But as a standalone, it just felt a little… meh. Maybe start with book one if you're curious!

This was a cute, quick and fast paced read! I had a fun time reading this as it was really nicely paced and had a good balance between sweet and cute moments and also a bit of drama.
I did struggle a bit with the MMC though, because he just felt a little bit too clueless with the whole relationships and girlfriend thing.
Overall I had a fun time and enjoyed the book!

This was a happy book and I love that Christian and Lana can be their selves with each other from the start. There's always something special about a book where someone famous isn't recognised. I really enjoy that prompt.
The relationship between the characters is interesting and I really loved reading about their journey. There was some very predictable events but I didn't mind it one bit.
I like both Christian and Lana as characters and they are a great couple.
All in all, this is a lovely romance and I immensely enjoyed reading it!

This romance novel is a beautifully crafted tale that explores the complexities of love and relationships. The characters are well-developed, each with their own struggles and growth arcs, making them relatable and endearing. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, filled with moments of tension, humor, and tenderness that keep readers engaged.

I sadly did not enjoy this book. I have enjoyed several of the authors other book, but in this one I felt like parts were missing. I enjoyed reading about the hero and how he tried to ground himself a bit. But I could not empathize with the heroine, she never actually took a second to think before she acted

The Love Theorem was a very fluffy, closed door (which I definitely did not expect), light hearted rom-com that hits the right spots. Lana and Christian's meet cute was memorable- and Christian was immediately HOOKED. He may be America's Sexiest Man Alive, but Lana has no idea who he is - which I found rather unbelievable. While I do understand being immersed in your own field of interest and study, you need to be living under a literal rock if you have not seen a hint of an actor who is as famous as Christian is supposed to be.
Christian likes the fact that Lana doesn't know who he is and decides to get to woo her - while also hiding who he really is by running his assistant to the ground with various random requests - like a Tesla and hiding the fact that he drives a Ferrari IRL.
Overall, I did like the story of Lana and Christian. And as a STEM girlie, I am a huge fan of books with STEM characters!

This cover is FIRE and would have drawn me in on its own if I didn't already know I wanted it since it's Camilla Isley. I love all her books and this one definitely did not disappoint!

The Love Theorem is a cute, funny romance about the scientist next door and the guy on the screen. Though they're not perfect - Lana is stubborn and her cheating ex has made her paranoid, Christian means well but stardom means he sometimes loses touch with reality - I thoroughly enjoyed these two falling in love and finding a balance that works for them.
I would've loved to see more of the background characters, and I'm glad to see some of them are getting their own books. I'm interested in seeing how Summer and Winter (Lana's childhood best friends) shake out going forward, given Summer kickstarted the plot by having an affair with Lana's boyfriend. Most of all, I'd like to see Penny (Christian's assistant) get a happy ending because she is hands down the most sensible person in this book.
It's a bit cheesy and full of wish fulfillment but reading this book made me happy. Also, Lana's passion for women in STEM is simply awesome. If you want a feel good Cinderella-style rom-com that swings between the wilds of academia and Hollywood luxury, please give this book a go!
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author via Netgalley; all opinions are my own

At 20% of the way through, the only things that happened were our two protagonists met in a broom closet at a hotel where her boyfriend was screwing her best friend (although she didn’t confront them for it), he drove her home, and she packed her now-ex’s bag sort of … happily? With relief? Because the relationship fizzled anyway. The rest was an exposition overload delivered via not-witty banter. I kept waiting for something to happen. I wanted to root for them. Alas, there’s…. Not a lot here? For as much as there is here? This was rough.
5 stars because self-publishing is hard.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood books for the ARC.

First I'll say, both narrators for the audiobook were fantastic, and I definitely recommend the audiobook format!
It was a cute story, typical rom-com really. But for me, the FMC, Lana, got more and more annoying as the book went on. And I just didn't like how the author made everything Christian's fault, when Lana is the one that was so clueless about everything! Especially in the world where media and advertising is everywhere you look, I'm just not sure it's possible to be so clueless. It seemed like Christian had to mold himself to fit himself into Lana's worldview. Blech. Just a bit cheesy.
I really feel like Lana should have been more devastated at the beginning of the book as well. 10 years is a long time!
I do love that Lana had two fluffy cats though. :)

Such a cute, fun and quick read! I loved the characters dynamics and chemistry. They were so cute together and I found myself cheesing at my kindle while devouring their story!

I’ve never read a book from Camilla but this won’t be the last one I’m reading by her. This was also my first book with the topic of women in STEM. I know, I know.. How could I miss it?! But honestly, I don’t even know myself. But I’ve enjoyed this book since the moment I started to read it. It was obvious how attractive Christian was but I loved Lana’s character. I even felt for her (she’s gone through enough heartache). Even if Christian was attractive, I was still a bit annoyed by his character.
What really pulled me into this story was the story of Lana not knowing who Christian was. It felt like a breath of fresh air for him but also for me as a reader. This gave their relationship a way to naturally develop without faking anything. It was really cute and insta love, but also made me instantly fall in love with the story. It was also obvious that Camilly knows the subject of engineering, which made this story even more fun to read.
The book has around 230 pages on Kindle and is a very quick read. So if you don’t know what to read this summer and you need a cute romance, I would truly recommend this. Book in one hand, a cold refreshing drink in the other and enjoy the sun. But make sure to have sun protection on. Let yourself be swept in the story of Lana and Christian.

This story follows a PhD student, Lana, and an actor, Christian, as they stumble upon each other in a hotel closet. Lana has just found her bf cheating on her and Christian is trying to escape paparazzi. And we have a meet-cute. From there, it really just goes over the next few weeks of their relationship as it develops.
I wish there had been more of Lana's cats and her bff, Winter, in this book. It really focused a lot on the relationship but I didn't really buy the chemistry between the two MCs and I really didn't like either of them. I think both of them are walking red flags. But I did like the cats and Winter. I also liked Penny, Christian's assistant. I think that this book was done a disservice by being pitched for fans of Ali Hazelwood because I expected smutty science and didn't get that. No smut is completely fine but I admit that I was disappointed when it was fade to black/implied. Overall, I don't think this book was for me, but I do think that it would appeal to others and they would enjoy it!

Overall a fun, feel good read that gave Ali Hazelwood vibes. While the book didn't feel new, it gave me what I wanted in a contemporary romance - some giggles, tension, and a whole lotta love (and science).

I just dislike insta love in a romance and this was full of it. I think overall its sweet but not my fave

Loved the cover!
Loved the meet cute!
Loved this potential couple to be!
The STEM angle made sure we had a leading lady who knew a thing or two more than how to dress to impress, and which fork to use. The Hollywood angle gave us the chance to live out any movie star dreams vicariously once the big reveal occurs, while getting to know the man behind the paparazzi pics. The fact that he was able to be an average Joe for awhile was priceless. The chance for her to find her footing after such an upheaval was worth all the closeted tears...or rather tears in the closet while contemplating every mistake and wrong choice made. If you've ever wondered what it would look like if these world's collided, now is your chance, and, if I might add, with mighty fine results!
A great add to your summer of love reading list to while away a sunny day, or pass a rainy afternoon.

Super easy, fast read with lots of giggles! I adored the star crossed puns & storyline. Super clever and entertaining!

3.5/5 stars! Camilla Isley continues to be a good contemporary romance author for a quick read. This book did strike a bit close to home for me as a fan of Ali Hazelwood. Yes; many authors can write nerdy, women in stem type books, but there were some overlaps that felt a bit mimicky. This book felt like the baby of Christina Lauren's "SoulMate Equation" and Ali's "Love on the Brain." I did still really enjoy the book. This author isn't quite a "must read," but overall I've enjoyed the books I've read by her.

This was a fun STEM romance that plays on the delightful writing style that Family Isley always brings to her books. With banter that build off of an initial mistaken identity, this opposites attract romance will give you smiles and chuckles as Lana, a stereotypically clueless scientist, meets and falling in love with Christan, a movie star of Hemsworth quality.
Thank you NetGalley and Bold wood Press for the ARC I read!
