The one big flaw in this book is that it’s closed door, which i hate. Otherwise it was charming and just believable enough but still outlandish and great. I really liked both the main characters, and especially enjoyed the clash of their two different worlds and watching them navigate that. Very sweet.

If you’re looking for a short, fluffy, witty read then this is your book.
Lana is a rocket scientist who meets Hollywood actor, Christin Slade while having the worst day of her life! From then on she’s thrown into the life of stars as she gets to know the real Christian behind the fame.
With a good mix of fluff and angst and a good amount of humour this book definitely drew me in. It was such a fast read that I flew through it.
However, because this is such a short book, the main characters fall in love insanely quick. Something I don’t particularly like much is the insta-love trope as I like more build up between the love interests. It felt like they didn’t have enough time to form chemistry, it felt like they barely knew each other before they were in love.
Overall, I did very much enjoy this quick read but wished it had been a tiny bit longer!
Thank you @netgalley @CamillaIsley and @bookandtonic for the chance to read this ARC! The Love Theorem releases 13th June!
This was a really cute book. While I can understand the comparison to Ali Hazelwood, I found this to be shallower in terms of character development and secondary characters. I'm fine with closed-door intimate scenes, however, every single one of them had a super cheesy lead in. There were also far too many ellipses, it made the book feel juvenile. Other than that, I'd recommend as a light, easy weekend or beach read.
I really liked this book, it was so cute and I finished it in half a day. I couldn’t put it down, I was rooting so hard for the characters! It doesn’t have any spice, it’s just a cute romance.
I loved this one! REALLY cute! I love the 'meet cute' in the closet of the hotel! And both main characters are interesting. Their meeting is fun and their conversation is sweet. I like the whole 'she has no idea who he is' even though he's an ultra-famous movie star, and I also REALLY like that this lie of omission/miscommunication does NOT persist too long - only a natural amount of time, and then he (though his hand is slightly forced) does come clean.
Overall a really fresh, fun enjoyable romance! I always like a heroine in STEM, and especially appreciate her competent and self-reliant attitude: e.g. "My life is not over. I'm still in control. I have the power to make things happen, the ability to make a difference. I'm strong and capable, and I'm not going to give up." p. 50. Yes. we need more heroines like this in romance!
I did find the ending / Christian's redemption/grand gesture a little rushed & slightly anticlimactic... but overall, really enjoyed this one! Highly recommend!
I think if you liked Curtis Sittenfeld's "Romantic Comedy" you'll also love this!
This was so cute. I really liked this sweet romance. And the characters were very well written.
I just reviewed The Love Theorem by Camilla Isley. #TheLoveTheorem #NetGalley

This isn’t a bad read just needs a bit more connection between the two with more of us experiencing the romance between these two. Has some good ideas, has a strong start but they fizz out for me.
For my smut readers: Closed Door, like they kiss she pushes him and they wake up the next morning. It is a jarring moment, didn’t get the emotions or anything that connect them even during the kiss.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, lighthearted and fun book. The couple have a great meet cute as famous actor Christian tries to hide from paparazzi by hiding in a cleaning closet where he finds Lana who is having a bit of a freak out in the cupboard as she has discovers her boyfriend and best friend have been having an affair. Lana doesn’t recognise Christian and they immediately have a connection.
I loved reading about their relationship and although somewhat predictable this was a great, comforting read.
Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sweet, lighthearted romance.

I really enjoyed this read, it was quick and really easy to read. It wasn't spicy so it made it a comfortable read for everyone if overly spicy reads bother you.
I loved the meet cute between Christian and Lana, hiding in a broom closet for two opposite reasons neither of these two expect anything to come of it. Lana, a rocket scientist who focuses only on science, books, friends, and her cats doesn't keep up with pop culture so how is she supposed to know she's in a closet with Americas sexiest man alive Christian. Christian, a highly successful actor is not used to being treated like a normal human at this point in his career and he finds himself drawn in.
Lana and Christian were total opposites in every way and there were several instances of miscommunication (my least fav trope) but it was pulled together really well in the end.
What a sweet, adorable romantic novel. Christian and Lana are a couple that wiggled their way into my heart. I loved following the story from both their povs.
Lana is a woman engineer, which I loved. She's smart, a book lover, and a cat mama. If she also watched TV we'd be soul sisters... But it's good that she doesn't because then the meet cute with Christian is the best... and I loved that she falls for him and not his fame...
After downloading I realized I'd already read the original version To the Stars and Back, but I loved going back to two favorite characters, and the addition to the plot made the book even better.
When I read the synopsis for this book, I was instantly drawn to it. Sadly, I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would.
A rocket scientist and a big shot Hollywood actor, match made in heaven or an explosion waiting to happen?
Lana is on her way to earning her professorship when she finds out her long term boyfriend has been sleeping with her best friend. After she decides to follow them, she freaks out and hides in a broom closet. Christian Slade is hiding from the paparazzi when he finds himself in the same broom closet as Lana and they instantly hit it off.
This book was very much insta-love. I’m not a huge fan of that trope so that was one of my issues with the story. I did enjoy the characters and the plot of the book itself. This is also a closed door romance as well. I’ll have to say though, the cats stole the show for me! Honestly, it wasn’t a bad book at all. In this case it’s more of a it’s not the book, it’s me.
If you love a closed door romance with a Hollywood star and a female scientist then I recommend checking this one out on June 13th!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the e-arc!
The Love Theorem was a cute, fluffy read. It's not life changing or anything that's going to stick with me, but it was a fun way to pass the time.
Lana is a rocket scientist, literally. When she catches her longterm boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend, she takes refuge in a storage closet. Christian Slade, Sexiest Man of the Year movie star, is also hiding in the storage closet. When she doesn't recognize him, he's immediately entranced and their relationship grows, but can their attraction/love last when they face the pressure of real life?
This was cute, but there really wasn't much to it. Smart, beautiful *but she doesn't know it*, rocket scientist Lana meets mega celebrity Christian and a whirlwind relationship begins. He adores her because she's not like other girls. She falls in love with the regular guy, despite his celebrity status. I didn't love the fade-to-black scenes because they didn't further the plot/character development.
This book can be summarized as totally fine. It didn't blow my mind and I'll probably forget about it in a few days, but it was a fun time while I was reading.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the e-b00k in exchange for my honest review.
This was a cute book! Throughout the story It gave me the vibes of Ali Hazelwood maybe it’s because she too writes STEM books. Anyway, the romance between Lana and Christian is cute, I also liked the celebrity romance trope. it’s realistic that Lana would be overwhelmed, but I was glad that she didn’t let that stop her from being with Christian.
Overall this was a cute, closed door, romance that was fun to read!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC copy of this book to read and review. All of these thoughts and comments are my own.
Lana is working on earning her professorship. She’s eco friendly, kind, and a bit nerdy. So, when she finds out her boyfriend is sleeping around with her best friend, she is devastated or atleast she thinks she is. Christian is a famous actor. He has everything he’s ever wanted except one thing, love. So, when he finds a crying Lana and offers her a ride home, he wonders if it’s the start of something because she has absolutely no clue who he is. Can an A-lister and a normal scientist make a relationship work or will the pressure of living the Hollywood life tear them apart?
I thought this was literally the cutest little romance book. The plot was cute and the characters were swoon worthy. It was a bit short and I wish it had been longer but it was good none the less. If you want a quick romance read; I’d definitely recommend this book!
4 stars!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Camilla Isley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I was a bit worried this would be a carbon copy of the love hypothesis but I was so pleasantly surprised by this novel.
I enjoyed the storyline and characters. Plus the pop culture references. I highly recommend reading this and I can’t wait to check out more of Camilla’s books
Sweet and comforting read about an Instalove celebrity romance. I went through this one very quickly and there is so much to love. I loved that the main character is an engineer and a geek! I loved the cats that brought their sass to the story. I love the premise of the book being a celebrity and civilian romance.
However the story seems rushed. I felt like the break up at the beginning and the romance happened too quickly.
Without spoiling anything I found the last part of the book very annoying and I wanted to hit Christian with something to tell him to stop being an idiot. I was happy with the epilogue and the hea but I really wanted more detail.
Overall I recommend it if you don’t mind instalove and like reading about stem characters.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Unlikely and very very cute, a female lead with mega brains who is approachable, neurotic and as mad as the rest of us. Family and friends are great and make the story bounce along really well. Some nasty exes add to tale and really make you root for the couple. Such a great read.
This is a very funny, silly, cute romantic story. IF, you can suspend belief on two things:
1) an academic researcher who has been religiously tracking her man and best friend for years would do absolutely NO research on the man she’s about to start dating.
2) any woman in the 2020’s would agree to go out with a man without at LEAST googling him first.
IF you can make yourself believe these things, it’s a very cute read. Personally, I found this a little difficult, and it gave me issues relating to Lana throughout the book. But, other than that, very enjoyable.
Worth noting: the spice is fade to black. I personally would have liked to read about Lana and Christian relating more on a physical level, but I know that’s not everyone’s preference. This would be a good option for those who aren’t a fan of super graphic spice.
I wanna start by thanking NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me early access to one of my most anticipated releases of 2023. All opinions are my own.

As a woman in STEM, I’m fascinated by the current boom of this theme in literature. I feel the bringing of attention to this field is always a plus, so I was super curious when I first read the synopsis of “The love theorem”.
In here, we meet famous actor Christian and PhD student Lana who, as you’ve guessed by now, will fall in love. I really liked this approach of the male character being the actor, as I feel back in the day, the stem position would be preferentially male. Let’s go women in stem!
The narrative evolves in a dual point of view kind of way, that is one of my preferences and had my heart from the start. The chapters are short and the MCs meet in a very cute way. However, as a woman in stem, I was hoping to see more of stem themes than what I saw. I think, maybe, my expectations were too high on this point. Lana is an engineer and, Camilla herself being an engineer, I expected to see more backstory of Lana’s reality, but we get A LOT of Christian’s daily life instead. It’s not bad in itself, but it could have been more balanced out between the two MCs, as for some time only the romantic plot line was developed, making Lana a not so well developed character (and she had the potential to be more!).
Lana herself was, sometimes, too far away from the reality. I get that it is fiction and the whole “not knowing Christian” was very important for the plot line, but I felt she felt too much in the nerd category of “woman in stem that knows a lot about her field and zero about the rest of the world”, which I feel it’s not the best way to normalize women in stem, as many of us have several other interests outside academia.
The overall plot sometimes felt superficial, issues could have been dealt with with more details, but I get it would have been difficult in a short book and I can let it slide for the sake of fiction. As I believe in also highlighting the positive, here are the things that really worked: the MCs talk! I get this may not be something astonishing but believe me when I say: it is! I’m not a sucker for the miscommunication trope, I get the realism behind it, but I truly enjoy adults that can speak their mind and we see that in both Christian and Lana. We may not like them all the time, but they talk and it’s amazing!
Christian can be my new fiction boyfriend? Because I’m ready to take him home with me 😂 He respects Lana’s boundaries and is, yet again, building my unrealistic expectations for men in the real world. Men written by women are another deal altogether.
Finally, what was the best for me: bringing to the table the talk of lack of funding in academia research. I don’t know the reality of all countries out there, but the lack of funding is very common, no matter the way it presents itself. The pandemic and the war added up to this problem and, in that sense, the book felt very actual and pertinent.
Overall, I would recommend to anyone wanting a fast paced cute romance with some sciency setting for a nice reading weekend.
