Why have I not heard of Camilla Isley before? Absolutely fantastic book that broke my star rating! 5+ stars!
Lana is a rocket scientist but finds herself hiding in a hotel closet after finding out her long-term boyfriend, Jonathan is cheating on her with one of her best friends at the hotel. Before Lana can get herself together the door of the closet opens, a man dives in and she isn’t alone anymore. This man is Christian Slade an extremely well-known heart throb Hollywood actor however as Lana doesn’t watch any tv or films she has no clue who he is. Christian offers to drive her home and Lana agrees; despite her sadness over Jonathan betraying her there is something about Christian that makes her smile, and she finds herself giving him her telephone number. A few weeks later Christian gets the courage to call Lana and arrange a date, they go out and for the first time since Christian was in his late teens, he knows this woman is with him for him and not the fact he is a rich very in demand actor. Christian knows he has to tell Lana at some point who he is, but he doesn’t want to break the spell that the both of them seem to be in. He also knows that being in the limelight is extremely hard and isn’t sure Lana will be able to handle it. After their second date…. and an extremely enjoyable night together Lana wakes up to find photographers on her door and suddenly finds out exactly who Christian is. Lana likes a quiet life, but she’s already fallen for Christian and him for her, can she handle the scrutiny she will get being Christian’s girlfriend or will it be all too much for her? And what lengths will Christian have to go to in order to protect her?
This was just fantastic! I loved Lana from almost the first moment I read about her, this carried on for the entire book and I really loved how she was such a bookworm. It was such a lovely easy read, and I was only 8% into the book when I knew without a doubt it was a 5 starer! I have never read a STEM romance before, and I actually had to look up what STEM was, but I really loved that the female main character was a rocket scientist. Despite Christian having no clue I loved the 50 First Dates, Bridget Jones and Titanic references to gauge how much Christian loves Lana. I was pretty much obsessed with Lana and her world whilst reading the book, it really gave me the warm and fuzzies and I was not prepared for it to end. I am really pleased that there are other books in which I can read about the characters from this story and in particular I am excited for Love Quest that comes out at the start of July.
I had a really good feeling about this book when I started it, and I am overjoyed that I was proved right, and it really was as good as I expected. Great story and fantastic characters, 5 stars isn’t enough so it’s getting a 5+ stars, nothing less is acceptable.
I really enjoyed this one so much and would highly recommend it for any rom/ com readers. I bought 4 more of Camilla Isley’s books and I can’t wait for the next 3 books she is releasing in a few months time.
Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley and Boldwood Books for my advanced reading copy. Out 13th June 2023.
I really wanted to like this… and I did a first but Christian just gave me the ick as soon as he winked at his own face. And then I liked Lana but she got a little repetitive and I’m sorry but how can no one know basic celebs, especially around others? It just seemed a little too much.
There was a lot of plot holes. Like she mentioned about possibly forgiving her friend which would have been stupid but like she was never mentioned again? And she made a whole big thing about moving in with winter, and doing new things… that got tossed out the window and her and Christian’s relationship was just rushed. They went from one date to moved in in a second. Especially when she just broke up with a guy. It just seemed unrealistic
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers from letting me read this arc in exchange of my honest review
Oh man. This book was so much fun. It really just made me happy the whole way through. I truly thought I was going to hate Christian in the beginning. I thought he’d be an insufferable celebrity that I couldn’t stand. But, I stand corrected. While some of his actions had me thinking he was completely out of touch (he is a celebrity and honestly, that’s probably accurate and it made me enjoy the story even more), I thought he was charming and I really loved his and Lana’s chemistry. I do kinda wish there was a bit more on what happened to the ex that needed punched in the face but the story didn’t suffer with out it. This is a super clean read if you’re not looking for anything spicy. I realllllly enjoyed this book!
I wanted to like this more. I like romances with intelligent heroines in STEM. The book starts with Lana crying in a supply closet after finding her boyfriend sleeping with her best friend. Into the closet comes a handsome superstar actor. Christian is hiding from the paparazzi. He and Lana spend some lovely time getting to know each other in the closet. Christian falls for Lana mostly because she’s lovely, smart, and has no idea who he is. The set-up was fun, but it all seemed rather shallow as the novel goes on. It seems that Christian really likes that Lana doesn’t know anything about his fame. And she falls for him because he’s so sexy. Then the paparazzi find out and it’s all out and romantic complications follow. It all gets wrapped up rather easily. Lana is very forgiving for a guy who basically deceived her.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
I loved Lana. Loved Christian. Their romance was fast paced and witty. (Loved Penny too. Can there be a book about her too, dear author, please, please?)
I thought the Lana is a n00b about film because she doesn’t watch TV was driven a bit far. I mean, I don’t own a TV either, but I’ve seen Sabrina and Bridget Jones’ Diary and I’ve heard of 50 First Dates. Lana grew up with two best friends who seem to like moves. Surely, when hanging out together they’ve watched a few movies. (I doubt that when they hung out they did each other’s nails and hair. Neither Lana nor Winter seems the type.)
Now I must get me one of those T-shirt, as I too am an engineer.
A fairy tale with a scientist instead of Cinderella, an actor instead of a prince, and Los Angeles as a place far far away.
Enjoyable, fast flowing though a bit predictable at times, as is also obvious considering the genre.
Una favola con una scienziata al posto di cenerentola, un attore al posto del principe e Los Angeles come posto lontano lontano.
Piacevole, scorrevole anche se a volte un po' scontato, come é anche ovvio che sia considerato il genere.
I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.
The main character Lana is a literal rocket scientist whose world seemingly falls apart after her boyfriend of 10 years cheats on her with her best friend. Christian is a high profile actor who’s bounced from one Hollywood romance to another.
I loved the beginning of the book - Lana’s backstory the propelled the plot into motion, how Lana and Christian met and their first couple of dates. After that, the story seemed to lose steam for me. I think a lot was left to be desired in Christian’s character development as well as the ending of their story. It was rushed and lacked depth.

There were parts of The Love Theorem that I enjoyed, but I felt that because the book was so short, many parts of it were rushed. I'm usually a fan of opposites attract, but this book missed the mark for me.
I could appreciate that Lana truly had no idea who Christian was, but at the same time, it was also a bit too cliche for me.
If you're looking for something quick and cheesy, this will probably do it for you.
I so loved everything about this book, but especially the STEM representation. Overall, it was very engaging and entertaining!!
I like how the story goes right into the plot, I haven’t read anything similar to this story and I loved it so much. It’s a light read with lots of heart eye emojis. Lana and Christian can stand on there own but their chemistry is too cute. It’s a fun read.
Camilla Isley mixed the perfect amount of science and love in this book. I was hooked from the first chapter! I enjoyed the conversation between the main characters, the bits of comedy interspersed with the romance. I even felt as though the ended wasn't rushed as I do in most 3rd act break up book tropes. I could definitely relate to the struggling student, and the efforts to save the planet! I think it gave a realistic relatable-ness to the book. The only critique I would have is that I tend to like my romance books a bit spicier if you will, and although this did have romance, it did cut out before any details were offered. Book 2 is soon to publish about her best friend Winter and I plan on reading and reviewing that book also!
This was an okay read to while away a couple hours, but to be honest it didn’t captivate me. I had read other books in the series and really enjoyed those, but I didn’t really gel with the main characters in this story, so although I read the whole book, it didn’t leave me itching to read the next chapter like a good book does
My rating is between 3.5-4 stars.
This is the first rom com I've enjoyed in a while.
The premise is a female scientist and celebrity unexpectedly cross paths in a hotel closet. She has no idea he's a celebrity and it goes from there. He tries to keep his identity a secret as long as he can because he loves that she likes him for him instead of because he's rich and famous. This obviously goes spectacularly. The rest of the book once she discovers his real identity is focused on them as a couple navigating the combination of their two different worlds.
I thought it was a really cute, quick read. I loved that there was talk of females in STEM. The side characters didn't add much but I think that helped keep the focused on the two main characters and their love story. Would recommend if you want something lighter and fun to read.

The Love Theorem is a sweet and lighthearted romance that kept me smiling and hooked from the very beginning! There's not much to say other than this was really cute, and I loved it.

Lana's world just came crashing down. Her boyfriend of 10 years is cheating on her. With her best friend, of all things. Now she's hiding in a hotel supply closet, regretting her life choices and bawling her eyes out. Enter Christian, a uber-famous Hollywood actor. But Lana doesn't know that. She knows him as the guy who showed her kindness at her lowest point. And to Christian, that is irresistible.
This book was a quick, fun read. It was witty and well-written. I enjoyed both the storyline around Christian and Lana's relationship and the one about Lana's career and it's brush with ruin.
I did think the plot-twists seemed a bit sudden. Of course, when paparazzi are the reason, it's a bit hard to do any sort of foreshadowing, but the tempo of the story nearly gave me whiplash, and I feel that this could have been avoided. Maybe with a nice side-storyline about their shared interest in the teachers without postcodes project?
Another thing that bothered me, probably because I'm also a scientist, is that the word Hypothesis was used wrong. Both times it appeared. This surprised me because not only is the author an engineer herself, but the word really isn't that unknown to people outside of science. And it wasn't a necessary mistake, either. Hypothesis could simply have been replaced with Observation, and it would have been fine. I generally find the marketing as a STEM romance a bit out of place. A scientist MC doesn't make a STEM novel, if the science is largely ignored. Especially since Lana sees so much of Christian's world, but he sees none of hers. That didn't sit quite right with me.
All-in-all: A fun romcom that just wasn't what I expected and what it was marketed to be,
he Love Therom by Camilla Isley
Thanks to NetGalley and BoldWood books for the arc.
The Love Therom is a STEM Romance. I immediately got into this, and within the first chapter, I was smiling. This is one of those books that you need to read if you want to feel good and smile; it is going to be one of my golf too feel-good books. I will reread this. We have loveable characters I love Lana she's a character I really connected with.
We start with a cheating longterm (10 year) boyfriend and a suppose best friend Summer whos a twin and Lana catching him with her best friend and then been trapped in a cupboard with Christian whom unbestom to her is a famous actor.
I also like Christian
I loved the two POV in this book as it added more to each character and their interactions with each other

I don’t know what to say about this book other than cute cute cute! They meet in a closet where they’re both trying to escape the world, he’s a famous movie star and she has no idea. I love an uncomplicated romance that just gives off easy breezy vibes. This is it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
Any book that begins with a dedication to female engineers is going to be a winner in my book and this is no exception! Two people stuck in a closet together was an adorable meet-cute. The heroine's technical side felt very real, but I thought her lack on knowledge of any current culture was a bit far fetched. The hero was just about perfect and I loved his overworked assistant as well as his personal chef.
Overall, this was a light and fluffy book which was an easy read.
This a cute, sweet romance read with not a lot of substance but a whole lot of fluff and I'm here for it. It's an easy and enjoyable read that can easily be devoured in a sitting or two.
There is a little more useless drama than I'd like but it comes with the genre and isn't a big deal. Both of the characters are great and I loved Christian: even with all of his over-the-top, decisions and reactions. The dialogue was great and snappy and the side characters added a lot of charm.
Overall I really enjoyed this and it was a lot of fun.
This was a nice easy read. It’s a short book and I definitely think there were gaps that could have been filled in and the book would have still be a reasonable length. I love books based on women in STEM, so I loved the plot we followed of Lana who is currently trying to get her Phd. At times I felt like christian was slightly unlikeable and stereotypically British. However, I would still recommend to anyone who enjoys books that include science-y characters and is looking for a fun rom-com.
