Another great collection from this series, and exactly the sort of book that I would read to my younger children, a few stories at a time. Wonderful to be able to share books like this with people in libraries, and when copies come into stock it'll be happily out on display.

I love this! Great illustrations, a huge variety in the people chosen to highlight, accessible text and an all around positive, encouraging vibe. I especially love the interactive pages at the back encouraging kids to write their own stories. This is fantastically affirming and well-written.

Book review of Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride
This book includes 25 inspiring short biographies of members of the LGBTQIA+ community. These stories are filled with motivating stories of these amazing individuals. Keeping with the multi-platformed empowerment brand Rebel Girls represents. All of the stories are uplifting even during moments when others try to keep them from thriving and being themselves.

Read the stories from Janelle Monae (Singer/Songwriter/Actor and Author), Billy King Jean (Tennis player), X González (Activist), and Lauren Esposito (Arachnologist) to just name a few. You also read about stories of individuals that will be new to you. In my case, those were the stories of Will Larkins (Activist), Phyll Opoku-Gyimah (Activist), and Menaka Guruswamy and Arundhati Katju (Lawyers) to name a few.

Rebel Girls provide scannable QR codes on some of the mini-stories within the book. The QR codes let you listen to the longer stories of some of these people who are women, girls, and nonbinary via the Rebel Girls App.

Keep Celebrating!
The beautiful additions to this book are endless. There’s an area where the reader can write their own story and draw a portrait of themselves. You can also find special activities to do once you’ve finished the Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride book. From “Sing It Loud and Proud” to answering the “Dream Dinner” activities. There is also a “Terms to Know” where there is information about the definition and meaning of certain terms that one can come across while reading this book. Always with the understanding that if the children have questions they should ask a parent or a grown-up.

The Illustrators
I noticed something when I read the first story in the Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride book about Alana Smith. Smith is a nonbinary skateboarder who competed in the Olympics in 2021. What captured my eye was the illustration of Alana Smith. It was illustrated by Rut Pedreño (website) from Spain. I recognized the illustration style immediately from following Rut online. That’s when I quickly realized the amazing team of Rebel Girls had full-page portraits from the book created by female and nonbinary artists from all around the world. Not only are you reading about amazing members of the LGBTQIA+ community but you now have a list of wonderfully creative illustrators to also give a follow and support.

I always love the Rebel Girls anthologies, and this was no exception. Happy Pride Month all! I especially like how they intermix the famous names most of us know already (Laverne Cox, for example) with relatively unknown names; covering a wide age range; and showing a wide range of professions among those highlighted. It's a great way to showcase that LGBTQ+ people are in all walks and stages of life, and you can choose your own level of involvement in fighting for their rights.

A beautiful celebration of Pride & Power, told with grace & understanding. Celebrating #pride isn’t just about rainbows, it’s learning about the people around us and celebrating who we are with love, compassion, & community. Rebel Girls always shares stories of strong, good people that make a positive change in our world. We especially liked the QR codes to learn more and the safe space to add our own stories. The illustrations are beyond beautiful!

5 stars!

Another amazing book in the Rebel Girls series! The books are made for kids, but everyone can learn from them.

As always, what I like most about this series is that though there is a theme (for this one it focuses on LGBTQ+ people), they do a great job including persons from a variety of backgrounds. Too frequently do we find books that just highlight white people. So it's great to have a variety, because representation matters.

Something I enjoyed about this one in particular is the range of sexualities and gender identities they cover. I had originally thought they would primarily focus on lesbian, bisexual, and transgender. But I was excited to see pansexual, nonbinary, intersex, asexual, and two spirit represented! Rebel Girls also does a great job at explaining these identities in age appropriate ways.

This is such a great book. It features some well-known and accomplished LGBTQ+ people. Each page is for a different person and it includes their name and birth date, what they are known for, the backstory of their accomplishments as well as their personal story as someone in the LGBTQ+ community. There is also a beautifully illustrated picture of them.

This is a fantastic book for young people, especially those who identify as LGBTQ people. This shows that there is room for them in this world and what they do. That even through all the negativity this world has towards them and those like that, that can't get them down.

What better way to celebrate June Pride month than with this fantastic Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride book! It is a compilation of 25 tales of wonderfully inspiring and game-changing girls, women, and nonbinary persons, illustrated with and beautiful full-page pictures. These individuals have all pushed boundaries and fought to be accepted for being uniquely true to themselves in a large array of areas from sports to Science. Sculpting to activism. This book encourages us to be open and accepting of others and show love and support no matter what. There is a super foreword by Elena Favilli, as well as great scannable qr codes that magically transport you to lots more fabulous information. #rebelgirlscelebratepride #rebelgirls #netgalley #pridemonth #LGBTQIA #childrensnonfiction

Every time I read a Rebel Girls book, I am afraid that this is it: this is the time the spell will be broken. This is the one that just won’t “do it” anymore. But so far, I’ve been lucky: every time I read a new Rebel Girls book, I am delighted.

Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride is something special, though - it is the spin-off that has brought me closest to that feeling I had when I read the very first Rebel Girls collection, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women. It inspires a sense of community, power, and - indeed - celebration.

I appreciate that Rebel Girls Celebrate Pride touches on definitions of various terms, and that it points out where society has progressed over the decades. With a cast diverse in age, culture, background, and fields of expertise, this iteration is at once relatable and educational.

I love the Rebel Girls series and this was another great addition!

I loved the mix within this book and the celebration of Pride overall.

It is Pride month in June and I have just read it so it is very apt timing and such a great read to shine a light on some of the people within the book.

Really informative and I love that it celebrates them and what makes them special and unique and has the key message that you are not alone

It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!

I cannot wait to own both a personal copy and one for my library. I absolutely love the Rebel Girls series, and this latest one is a fantastic addition. I highly recommend not just for the informative content, but also for - mainly for - the empowerment. Love love love!

This was a really enjoyable short read. I liked the different art styles and stories. This is another of the Rebel Girls series that I thoroughly enjoy and would like to read more from.

I gave this 4 stars as I did not love it but that is more to do with it being on the younger side. I also had a slight problem with my download, the layout was a bit all over the place but I was able to read it fine and I’m not rating this based on any technical issues.

Thank you to the publisher for this review copy! I will definitely read more!

I loved the range of this one! I even learned about a few of the figures represented, so I’m sure young people will learn a lot.

This book is such a treasure for preteens to celebrate Pride in one of the best ways - getting to know and admiring those humans. This book features 25 gorgeously illustrated mini biographies about LGBT community members. I especially love at the end that there is a section to write your own story and add a portrait. Such a great addition to your child's library to celebrate diversity!

Another excellent entry into the Rebel Girls biography series, with even more diverse artists illustrating. Again we are mostly reading about diverse, ordinary people all over the globe who do extraordinary and wonderful things, who have barely been heard about by society at large. I always love that these biographies feature few mainstream celebrities, instead focusing on people who are not celebrities in the way we think of celebrities--they are activists, artists, people breaking records, and hometown heroes. It really cements how relatable and easily attainable these feats are for all of us. We can all make a difference!

The structure of the book is the same as other Rebel Girls biography books; you can read them out of order and get definitions for some terms regardless of where you're at in it. This is especially good for students who are looking for specific people for projects. There are also activities, suggestions for celebrating Pride, and a glossary of Terms to Know in the back.

I also just simply appreciate the inclusion of several different identities in this book, which includes two-spirit and nonbinary identities, intersex personhood, asexuality, bisexuality, and pansexuality. These tend to get overlooked for the LG part of our acronym, so it's really nice to see the representation. This is definitely a good resource for anyone looking to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community.

An inspirational account of the lives of some members of the LGBTQIA+ community from all around the world. Their stories are partnered with fantastic illustrations. These role models are going to inspire the next generation of rebel girls.

Another great Rebel Girls book. These are always so informative and diverse. I only knew maybe 3 or 4 of the 25 people listed, so I like that these are always fresh and don't use the same famous people over and over. There's always something or someone new to learn about in the Rebel Girls books and they are always filled with a diverse range of people!

Thanks to netaglley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was a great book to read with my kids. I thought it might be a little young for my 13 yo but he was totally engaged in all the stories - they sparked some great conversations. The illustrations are outstanding and beautiful.
