Sheets graphic novel trilogy follows Majorie who works in her family’s laundromat and befriends the ghost of a young boy who begins haunting the building. The series follows their friendship and Wendell (the ghost), and Marjorie coming to terms with the death of her mother shortly before the events of book 1.

I’ve read this trilogy in quick succession over the past month and I really enjoyed. It is a solid 4 stars series for me. I adore the colourful art style.

The friendship between Majorie and Wendell is so cute. Book 3 focuses on Majorie making friends in the ‘human’ world and also trying to find out what happened in Wendell’s life when he was alive.

Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a cute and spooky YA graphic novel to pick up to get you in the spooky-adjacent mood for Autumn.

This was the perfect ending to a brilliant and heartwarming series. I love learning more about Wendell and his backstory as well as seeing Marjorie and Eliza become closer friends. Over the series, all the main characters have shown so much growth and I’ve become attached to all of them. The artwork for all three books is beautiful! They do such a good job at showing emotion through the illustrations and it works wonderfully with the plot/storytelling. I have had such a good time reading this series and it is definitely one of my favourites.

I loved this one as much as the others by this author. It will be such a popular one since we can't even keep the others on our shelves! This is a must buy for a collection.

Lights is the conclusion to the trilogy started by Sheets, and the end of a graphic novel series about life, death, grief, and moving on as well as friendship and growing up. Marjorie has grown so much over the course of the trilogy and seeing her struggle with friendships and realizing she needs to learn how to bridge gaps to keep them was satisfying. Eliza's growth and struggles are never pushed aside.

The more warm palette used for Wendell's flashbacks and the cooler tones used throughout the rest of the book set a time and place very well.

I think my favorite part of Lights, specifically, was how Wendell's internal monologue read so strongly of a narrator in a fairy tale, which was befitting for a young ballet dancer surrounded by those stories. Thummler weaves a respectful, delicate story that feels genuine to each character and their situation.

I recommend this to readers at the middle grade level and above after reading both Sheets and Delicates first to get the full picture and to truly appreciate the cycle that Sheets started. My only wish is that we learned more about how to do laundry.

A great concluding story of friendship, grief and fitting in. Took a bit too long to get in but featured well-beloved characters and beautiful art.

Thank you so much NetGalley for the advanced copy. The Sheets series is literally one of my favorite things I’ve ever read. Love Brenna’s illustrations and love the stories even more. So sad its over but thankful for all of the beautiful things I’ve read. Cant wait to read it to my daughter one day.

I loved this entire series!!! I am so happy with the way the book answered all my questions about Wendell and brought the final friendship group together before high school!!! The message of all the books needs to be heard by middle schoolers! Be friends with who makes you happy and don’t worry about what others think!!! The sooner kids learn this, the happier they will be! I will be ordering this series for my classroom library! I love happy endings!!!

LIGHTS was my favorite installment in this series and the perfect ending.

There was more action, more heartbreak, more love for these very human characters, even when they're a ghost.

We got to know a few new characters, which freshened up the cast, but without us losing touch with the main characters we got to love throughout the series. Every character had their own life lesson to learn, and it all wrapped up in a heartwarming, satisfying way.
I especially loved discovering Wendell's background story. Him wanting to remember his past added more action to the story than there was in the previous novels and made the emotions bigger too.
The scenes where we read the wandering thoughts of a character were so well written. Some might find it cheesy, but I genuinely enjoyed how the author linked all the metaphors to different meanings of the word 'lights'..
Finally, the art itself deserves some compliments as well! I love the color palettes and how the artist uses the limits of space in those tiny boxes to their advantage.

I will definitely recommend this series to friends!

Both heartbreaking and heartwarming, this series comes to a bittersweet end. Our trio of main characters search for more details on Wendell's life and death. With memories of his life sparse and fading, Wendell worries that he has been forgotten by the people who knew him when he was alive. We do some classic ghost hunting with gadgets and a few new characters. We also get reacquainted with some old characters who want to make amends for the things they've done.

The conversations about friendship in this installment are so lovely. The characters learn to balance multiple friendships, accept other people's interests when they don't align with your own, and how people can change for the better. Paired with the investigation into Wendell's past and flashbacks revealing some of his life, this was such a fun, charming read.

A stunning conclusion to a beautiful series.

What a great ending to this trilogy. We have closure for Wendell. We have new friendships. We have standing up to bullying.
I really enjoyed this trilogy. They dealt with some hard-core topics and were relatable (minus the ghost part, of course - but even the ghosts were a great mechanism to portray real friendships and real issues that kids and adults alike face).

The story of Wendell's life has finally been revealed, and no his and fe other hearts can rest.

The two girls grew within this story and balanced so many things; each other, social life, acceptance, mystery and friendship/ I think it's a good plan to end with Wendell, their friend, finally remembering what happened to him and not leaving but finding peace.

This continues on the story between Wendell the ghost, Marjorie and Eliza. We finally find out how Wendell died, and what he was like as a human.

I love this story so much and the art style continues to be amazing.

Another great graphic novel by Brenna. I love the Sheets books and this is no exception to the series. Love the search for the real truth behind the death of Wendell. So mysterious and sweet with deja vu vibes. 5 out of 5.

Thummler is back with the conclusion to the ‘Sheets’ series, and dare I say, this was a beautiful conclusion!

‘Lights’ tells a story about embracing life, finding meaningful friendships, grieving, learning when to let go, and looking after yourself. In this instalment we learn more about Wendall’s backstory as the crew tries to solve his murder mystery.

Yet again, Thummler has flawed me with their ability to convey such a heartfelt story. I will truly miss the adventures of Marj, Wendall, and Eliza.

This is an easy recommendation if you’ve read the other books in the series, this is just as heartfelt, memorable, and hopeful as its predecessors.

A memorable graphic novel that is visually stunning and fills you with hope as you read.

Thank you Netgalley and Oni Press for the complimentary e-arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.

Lights is a thoughtful and enthralling companion to Sheets and Delicates. Captivating from the very beginning, picking up this novel was like reuniting with old friends. Thummler's ability to capture and communicate the loss and longing of relationships in various respects comes across in the beautiful illustrations and expert storytelling. Although the theme of loss can be challenging, this book handled it with sensitivity and grace, leaving me feeling both heartbroken and hopeful. I feel a sense of catharsis after reading this novel and a renewed appreciation for the power of resilience. I highly suggest this graphic novel to anyone searching for an emotional yet inspiring read.

This is a good addition to the graphic novel trilogy that began with Sheets and continued with Delicates. This time round, the writer puts the spotlight on Wendell, the ghost of a boy who died too young.

Marjorie and Eliza have their own issues, the former around feeling seen and the latter around fitting in. But the situation is exacerbated when Marjorie's desire to be friends with two of the popular girls means that she is getting closer with the people who bullied Eliza.

Meanwhile, Wendell has had his own issues accepting that his best friend Marjorie may also need to have human friends, when he just wants to have her to himself.

Nevertheless, all three of them agree it's important for Wendell's fast-fading memory of his human life to be examined as soon as possible, because he wants to understand better the nature of the accident that led to his death.

What none of them has bargained for is the possibility that Wendell's death may not have been entirely accidental...

The story takes a little time to warm up, really taking off in the latter part of the graphic novel. The art in this series has never really been to my taste, although the ghosts are dead cute (pun intended). Still, the ending is both heartwarming and a little sad, yet somehow entirely right for this touching series.

A beautifully poignant ending to such a lovely and gentle series about friendship, loss, and finding your place in a tough world.

I loved the focus on Wendell's history and how he became a ghost, it was so sad and heartbreaking to see and learn about his family and surroundings. But I found the ending satisfying and that friendships were made. Lovely series, and I loved reading it.

This was a really great way to end a lovely graphic novel series and I am so glad that I finally broke down and read it [though I have realized that there is no amount of money that would induce me to go back to middle school - E V E R].

There was a lot of nostalgia in this one for me [I didn't know until I had read the second one and kept feeling a sense of deja vu over and over, that the author is from Erie PA, which is only 45 minutes from me and where I spent a good amount of time] as it is Wendell's story and he spends time in places that I loved as a child/teen [the amusement park he goes to with the Blue Streak and Wacky Shack WAS a real place {the Blue Streak burned down just recently and all of us that loved it had a bit of a cry} and I spent many a happy day there], plus there are more landmarks that I actually recognize and that made the connection to the story even better for me.

When you meet Wendell, all you want to know is his story and that comes to fruition in this book [along with a lot of other stuff - again, I am so glad I don't have to go back to middle school],but it isn't always the story the reader was hoping for and there are a lot of things that made me just cry over and over again.

This is a really well done graphic novel series and I can only encourage everyone to read it, even those who have never read a graphic novel. I think what you find will surprise you [and only in the best ways possible]. So well done!

This was a nice conclusion to the trilogy, but it didn’t quite draw me in as much as the first two volumes. I really liked the dual timelines and finally diving more into Wendell’s story, but the present-day timeline wasn’t quite as interesting. Still, it was a nice way to round out the story and overall a satisfying conclusion for all of the characters.

Thank you to Oni Press for letting me read LIGHTS early. This third installment publishes September 5.

I loved SHEETS, loved DELICATES, and now LIGHTS is right up there. This little series is the perfect escape graphic novel. The illustrations and color choices make me so happy and these characters are my friends. This was a perfect third installment for this series. I highly recommend it!!
