The book started out in action. Rylan who is a YouTube personality is on site recording. We instantly find out she has a talent to speak the the dead. The book does not slow down from there, steaming straight ahead into Rylan finding a body of a murder girl. I honestly can’t remember the last time I couldn’t put a novel down and devoured it in one sitting. Thank you Dawn Merriman for making that happen.
Outside of the mystery and body’s that are stacking up there is a great cast supporting Rylan. The book gives you a glimpse into each of these import people for her and starts building a love interest too. I cannot wait to see what will happen next in the world of Rylan Flynn.
I definitely encourage all my cozy mystery lover friends to check this one out because I am so sure you will love it!

Thank you Netgalley for the advance audiobook and reader copy of The Spirit Girls (A Rylan Flynn Mystery Book 1) by Dawn Merriman in exchange for an honest review. This book was an odd combination. It was a murder mystery with the occult through it as well as religion. I liked the story, but I'm not sure if I would read anymore.

Rylan Flynn sees dead people, and it’s not a secret. Her family knows and she has online followers, but that doesn’t mean she always enjoys the ability. Like the character in The Sixth Sense, the spirits of the departed approach Rylan for help resolving an earthly problem. Now, she’s followed the ghost of a dead girl to a property owned by her family and it appears that Rylan has uncovered a serial killer. This is the first in a new series and has the potential to become really, really good. The book needed to ba a little longer and I needed more character development for all the characters, especially Rylan.

Thank you NetGalley for the audio ARC of this book. This book had so much potential, but it came across as a bad YA book. The MC was oblivious and aloof the whole time. I finished this but maybe should have DNF'd (which would have been a 1 ⭐️ rating).

This is a fast and easy read! Rylan Flynn has always been able to see spirits, but usually they've been dead a lot longer before she sees them. This time, she's found herself in the middle of a murder investigation and feels bound to help because the spirit came to her and even more so when her aunt is framed. Unfortunately, that pulls Rylan dangerously farther in than just the middle. With ghosts, witchcraft, and murder, this is a fun one.
If conspicuous (not overbearing) Christianity is unpleasant for you, you'll want to give this one a pass.

Wow, I really loved this fast paced paranormal thriller, which was wonderfully narrated, and full of excitement, suspense and mystery.
The main character is Rylan Flynn, who is a medium who sees and talks to spirits. She comes across a spirit who leads her to her dead body in the woods, and from there Rylan has to uncover and expose a dark plot, which leaves everyone feeling shocked. She is helped along the way by her friend and love interest Detective Ford Pierce. I loved both of these characters!
This book is book 1 of a new series, and I can't wait to read the upcoming books. This is an amazing book, which I highly recommend! I adored it so much!
Many thanks to the author, narrator, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
