I honestly have no idea what I was expecting, but this was absolutely hilarious and (somehow) very heartwarming lol Definitely glad I picked this up and I'll certainly be recommending my library grabs a copy.

Recieved a free arc from Netgalley for an honest review.

This sure is a lover letter to everyone who been into idol culture. I myself been a crazy fan for my bias's and this really captured the essence without making it corny.

The story was fun and interesting and kept me engaged all the time. I couldnt put it down.

The humor kinda reminded me of the manga "The Way of the Househusband". If thats something you really like this will truly hit the right spot for you.

This volume was absolutely a love letter to idol fans. I adored the fun look at how enjoying an idol group can come from anyone. They way he slowly starts to spreading the idol love through his Yakuza connections is infectious and adorable. I can't wait to read more in this series! Don't miss out on this one.

This has been lowkey on my radar but was on the fence if I should pick it up, so I'm thankful for the chance to read an e-ARC through NetGalley because WOW!

This was hilarious!!!!

Despite that I don't have any idols I'm a fan of or super familiar with idol culture, I had a BLAST reading this! I compared a lot of the bias and love for idols with my love for my favorite Haikyuu characters since they ARE my bias. LOL! Maybe not the same, but again it didn't take my enjoyment away from this first volume because I think it's just a lot of fun seeing this yakuza second-in-command become one of the biggest idol fans around. LOL!

And that's literally just the beginning! There are plenty of situations that were absolute gold and had me turning pages quickly because I wanted to see what would happen next! Also, seeing the point of view of the idols and their reactions to Ken was equally funny, especially near the end!

I'm currently debating if I should try and get the series physically because this is such a great first volume! I'm definitely not ready to end the story here because with the developments that happen later on, I'm all for wanting to see more!

*(I received an e-ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts expressed are my own.)*

This was such a fun read! I recommend it! Go and read it! If you like k-pop or idols in general, if you are a fan of Yakuza stories, you will love this comedy!

The second-in-command of the Washio Clan is sucked into idol culture. Megumi the clan president’s daughter introduces him to a k-group My Night With and he can't get enough! Concerts! Merchandising! Videos! Documentaries! He's hooked!

I need more scenes from My Night With! I'm guessing that they will have more screen time in the future as we get their perspective too! I need volume 2!

Thank you for the advanced copy Netgally!

"Forgive me, Boss. . .I, Ken Kanashiro, second-in-command of the Washio Clan. . .have found something worth putting all my honor and humanity on the line for." - Ken

Ken gets semi brainwashed to go to a K-pop concert with his Boss' only daughter, Megumi. Only when our tough, proud, scary looking, and feared Yakuza man goes to the event he is blown away. Having done some previous studying up on the group Ken already started forming a bias but when he's at the concert in person things are solidified!

A new stan is born! Ken completely turning his life around and finding new avenues to venture down. His loyalty is unmatched, and he will make his new aniki proud. The mafia world is about to get shaken up by the male K-pop group, My Night With, who don't realize that some of their biggest fans are actually from the mafia world! Bonds are being formed and enemies are possibly turning into friends?!

"I don't know if he's a gangster or an influencer anymore." - Reiji

I was laughing so hard as I read this manga! It was exactly the comedy I needed in my life! The artwork is beautiful and very well done. I enjoyed how panels and line work helped to empathize the scene or emotions of the characters.

Ken gets roped into taking Megumi to a K-pop concert, only the slightly terrifying daughter of the President isn't going to allow Ken to go in blind. Educating is needed before they go to a concert that will change Ken's life forever! I was laughing so much with the first chapter and the panels. Ken is extremely loyal, and his oaths and bonds are unrivaled. Once you are his soldier or his brother that's it!

I loved watching Ken turn into a superfan and fall down the rabbit hole! Not realizing just how much is out there until Megumi continues to show him the ways. Making a social media account to follow the group, trading and purchasing merchandise, and being an utter fan. Just the intensity of Ken and his devotion just helps to increase the comedy of this work! The interactions with other members of the clan and other groups were the best. My Night With really has no idea how much of an impact they are making on the underworld.

This is a comedy manga and if you are a fan of "Ways of the Househusband" you will love this read. However, we are dealing with the mafia world so there is mention of darker businesses and things characters have had to deal with. The author keeps things light and sensors out anything gruesome. There is a scene with slight violence and someone wielding a weapon. I couldn't find hardly any language and there's no fanservice or nudity.

I am very much ready for the next installment since we do get a bit of a cliffhanger. I just want to see how much My Night With is going to corrupt the mafia world! Some characters and dynamics I hope to see more of.

Enjoy this manga as you laugh out loud and fan out with Ken! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Ken Kashiro is one of the top ranking members of the Washio Clan, a feared yakuza outfit in Tokyo. Nothing is more important to Ken than the bonds of loyalties between brothers. Then the bosses' only daughter Megumi drags him to a K-pop concert, where Ken becomes a die hard fan for pop idol Jun. Ken plunges into the world of K-pop, chatting on message boards, trading fan merchandise, and standing front & center at concerts.

Great for fans of The Way of the Househusband. The deadpan humor and art style are very similar. An absolute win in my book.

Thank you so much to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC; it is greatly appreciated.

The description is not wrong in comparing this to Way of the Househusband. The type of humor, and obviously that Yakuza flair, are the same, so if you enjoy that series then you will most likely enjoy this one as well. As someone who just got into Kpop a few months ago, I could relate to the main character, Ken, and how new and exciting it can be to join a fandom (and at the same time, overwhelming !).

It's obvious that the author themselves knows how the kpop fandom is. There is quite a lot in here that is surprisingly accurate, and I like how they call out a few things such as the ovepricing of photocards. I went down the kpop rabbit hole incredibly fast, and seeing that all translate into this manga was very entertaining.

I think most kpop fans will get a kick out of this manga. Each chapter is self contained, and there is an overarching story, but it's not the main focus. I definitely want to continue with this series and see more interactions between Ken, his idol, and the other kpop fans.

Ken Kanashiro, is a Yakuza and Second-in-Command of the Washio Clan.
Meguimi who is the clan's president's only Daughter, follows a Korean Pop Group MNW and takes Ken with her to his first concert. There he is exposed to a whole new world and finds his bias, Jun.
From experiencing his first ever concert and receiving fan service, to creating his own social account to follow the group in order to be close to them, we see Ken go gaga over Jun, and what he represents.

I love how Megumi holds Ken's hand and guides him through this world, and helps him not only understand but get close to his idol. There are some really funny scenes and to one, even relatable. Megumi helping him create a social account, exchanging and buying merch, going to a MNW café, spreading immense love his idol with others, and slowly making others around him aware of him bias. Was all a treat to watch, also rather fascinating.

The story is good, and the artwork is really good. The story gives me major The Way of the Househusband feels. An entertaining and fun read! I'm hoping in the future there'll be an anime for this, as it'll be so much fun to watch on screen!

Can't wait to see more of Ken's journey!

Thanks to @netgalley and @kodanshamanga for the digital arc

This manga was different. We meet a member of the yakuza who becomes a fan of a Korean idol. And it falls TREMENDOUSLY into this beautiful world that is following an idol.

The truth is that there were very funny scenes, a bit crazy, but it was super refreshing to read it and follow the process of this yakuza in this totally new and different universe from what he is used to seeing and doing on a daily basis.

I also liked that not only is he involved in this world, but little by little he spreads his love for this band to other people.

I felt identified with many parts, I look forward to the second volume!

Thanks NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the ARC.

This was such a great read that I'm going to be buying the physical copy! It was so funny, especially as someone who understands the world of Idols. There is so much this series can work with, and I can't wait to read the next volume!

Ken Kanashiro,Second-in-Command of the Washio Clan. is influenced by the clan president’s daughter, Megumi, to go to a korean idol concert with her. After being exposed to the group MNW, Ken becomes a fan of one of the members. Ken learns what it means to be a fan of an idol group and the ways of this new world that has opened up to him.

At first glance of this manga I was 50-50 on it, but I’m glad I requested to read it. I found many of the characters funny and relatable in the sense of being a fan of something. I love how Ken is eventually known by many (from his social media) and sticks out enough for even the idol group to talk about it. Something I like about this manga is that it intertwines both the yakuza world and the fandom world well and how the clan’s daughter slowly introduces Ken to the fandom world versus throwing all the information at him at once. The artwork is nice too, especially given the fact that the yakuza members can be distinguished from one another and not all appear the same.

I really hope there is a meet and greet for Ken to see Jun and the other members soon!

3.5
This was a hilarious read! The main plot line, of an older Yakuza member becoming a super fan of a K-Pop idol, is so silly, but it's a fun read. The chapters don't really follow an overarching plot line of any short, each chapter is more of random hijinks that Kanashiro gets into. A LOT of the comedy is the misunderstanding type of comedy, which I know it's everyone's cup of tea. This is a good read for when you just want to laugh. It does help if you know a little bit about how K-Pop stan culture functions, and how Yakuza life works, but neither is really needed to get the jokes. The footnotes of this novel make sure to explain things so you're never lost. The art style is interesting. I don't know why, but it feels very late 80s / early 90s with how it looks. It's also interesting to see such well-done detailed art you would normally find in a drama story, for a story that is almost slapstick comedy. Not sure if I would seek out another volume, but this was a fun read at least!

This was such a hilarious book. I loved reading about Ken becoming an idol fan and finding out his bias. I also liked that there were little asterisks explaining things as the book went along. I can't wait to see what Ken gets up to in the next volume.

This was an interesting manga. I was a little confused at first about what was going on between the Kpop idols and the accuser, and I feel like there was a lot of elements trying to be linked together. I think it also tried to have so many concepts and so many troops that are filtered out a little, the plot of the story, but overall I did like the concept I did like the characters and it was quite enjoyable. I would recommend if you don’t mind fighting and a little bit of cool. This is quite interesting complex but I am on the fence about reading more in the series as unfortunately the plot just got a little bit too confusing and too muddied for my personal taste , but I did like the characters so I would recommend if you prefer character driven stories

I'm a person who is not well-versed in the idol world but this manga was a fun introduction to K-pop. The premise follows a yakuza member who is introduced to K-pop through his boss's daughter. From there, we follow him as he becomes a fan of one of the members of a popular K-pop group. I sped through this read and laughed at many of the panels. By the end, I was intrigued to see where the story would go especially with the other yakuza members. If you are a fan of K-pop or stories about yakuza, this read will be for you I highly recommend it.

I want to thank NetGalley and Kodansha for an e-arc of this!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this title!

5 stars of hilariously relatable content.

Ken is second in command of a large Yakuza conglomerate... he's serious about his dedication to the organization and earns a lot of respect in his position. One day the head boss' daughter takes him to a K-pop concert to see her favorite group, MNW. It is there where he sees Jun for the first time, instantly falling for his dedication, character, and cool good-looks.

He's instantly a changed man, and although he doesn't change with how serious he is about his job, Ken manages to intertwine himself in the K-pop game. He becomes "twitter" famous and even manages to catch Jun's eye (easily because Ken has face scares and stands out like crazy in a sea of screaming girls). We see Ken maneuver his way through the Kpop game, even managing to get his arch nemesis biasing another member of the group.

This was a hilariously funny first volume to the series, and I'm curious to know if Ken ever gets to meet his Bias! Go Ken- Live out all of our K-pop dreams!!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced review copy.

This is fun. A tough, higher up yakuza being a huge fan of a music group is a fun ride. I don't want to give too much away because that is the fun of this manga. I'm looking forward to the next one.

In case the title, the cover, or even the blurb weren’t enough, please allow me . . . When the yakuza world and the K-pop fandom collide, there’s no way you can let it go, you have to join the fun!

If, like me, you have played the yakuza video games, then you love the kind of humour and craziness that the characters always convey, which applies wonderfully to a manga like this. Seriously, you smile from beginning to end and truly crack up here and there! What’s more, you find things are quite relatable for a K-pop fan. The clan members’ interactions on the topic are really funny, but so are the idols’ reactions, and all the conversations via Twitter just hit the mark. We all witness this kind of convos on social media—if not on a daily basis, then almost—but Ken uses words in a unique way that particularly catches the eye . . . just like his intense stare. You might want to go to a concert with him, but then don’t get jealous if your bias look at him more!

A lively and humorous manga with an artwork that remarkably reproduces the features of completely different characters. Try it and get a few laughs while also finding yourself in it a bit.
