Objectively, this was very very funny, and I think I could have ended up really enjoying myself - it was a silly goofy time, I just didn't love the romantic pairing. I couldn't feel any chemistry between the two of them and that made me so sad because I liked both Cassie and Frederick! Also, I understand that with it being a romance, the worldbuilding wasn't going to be as in depth as for other genres... but I really needed just a bit of explanation on the vampires. How did Frederick turn? Who turned him? How did he wake up from the coma that he was in for 100 years? How come his mother was a vampire? What is with the ability to conjure fruit? I just needed just a BIT more of world development, PLEASE.
I did think it was pretty well written, and I enjoyed the correspondence of letters that we got to see between Cassie and Frederick, and between Frederick and Reginald, so that we get to see glimpses of Frederick's perspective. It was very entertaining and I do think that if you can suspend your disbelief, you can have a great time with this! Objectively, however, it really just needed some stronger development.
I didn't have very high expectations for this, just because I was wary that it would feel a bit gimmicky, but I ended up actually really enjoying My Roommate Is a Vampire! It was fun, it wasn't too serious, but it was well-written and I genuinely enjoyed reading Cassie and Frederick interact with each other. I particularly enjoyed the 'education' Cassie gives Frederick in attempting to bring him up-to-date with the present-day and its current culture; it felt like the classic makeover scene in coming-of-age films and I love that! The characters weren't the most developed, but I'm hoping that Levine's next work, which follows a secondary character from this debut, will allow us to gain an insight into what Cassie and Frederick are up to in the future. I enjoyed the stereotypes and tropes from other vampire works being included in this, but with a modern twist too.
I was disappointed with this one.

The story line sounded good and its paranormal romance, one of my fav things to read. But I was bored. I didn't feel like there was any chemistry between the two lead characters. Nor any real personalities.

This is not one that I will remember in a few days' time. It was written well, just not one for me.
Will spooky rom-coms be my new obsession? This book balanced the rom and com aspects so well that they just might. The pacing of the romance hit every beat, the goofy situations that Cassie and Frederick found themselves in made me laugh out loud, and even if there were a few holes in the plot and worldbuilding, I was willing to overlook them in favour of the lighthearted fun I found in the story. Christmas romcoms move over, your competition is here.
Fantastic book, story from start to finish was compelling.
Very well written, and character development was strong.
I would never usually pick up a romcom book but I was drawn in by the vampires and it was actually a lot of fun as a palette cleanser from the books I typically read.
I loved the first part of the book the most; seeing a vampire trying to come to terms with the modern world. Who wouldn't love a vampire boyfriend who educates himself on Taylor Swift?
All in all a fun quick romance and I would read from the author again.
In this charming romantic comedy, Cassie Greenberg's search for a new home leads her to the quirky Frederick J. Fitzwilliam. Their shared apartment, though affordable and charming, comes with a catch – Frederick's nocturnal habits and regency-era speech. As the two navigate their unique living situation, sparks fly, but a secret adds an intriguing twist. With a delightful mix of humour and romance, "A Quirky Love Tale" is a fun and engaging read for those who enjoy unexpected connections and lighthearted mysteries.
A laugh out loud, fabulous read. I loved the eccentric and paranormal romance, and our two main characters I felt where developed very well. I loved their whitty banter, and how they connected, Such an interesting and unique premise!
I’ve had to look really objectively at this one for my review because romance isn’t typically my favourite genre and this book didn’t change that. The story was definitely different and is an easy light-hearted read, but it just wasn’t for me. If any of you don’t usually like romance books (like me) then I wouldn’t recommend, but I’m sure if that is a genre you typically love then you will no doubt like this one.
I really enjoyed this book, and the humour was great. I felt like it was over a little too quickly and I would have perhaps liked a further epilogue with more about Cassie's choice, but I realise this may be seen in Reggie's book if this is released.
Firstly I’d like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC 🥰😘
My Roommate is a Vampire is completely amazing and bonkers but it works so well, it’s so well written that you just think it’s normal and the situation would come up 😂🥰 Every part of Fredericks vampire life is awesome (there’s something I can’t say but was amazing and made me laugh). It’s all so well thought out and he compliments Cassie so well. They’re just wonderful characters, they’re both so loving and perfect for each other. I was rooting for them straightaway!! I love everything about the storyline 🥰❤️ The longing and lingering is EVERYTHING!!
I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book!! I LOOOOOVED IT!! It’s almost like Jenna Levine has looked in my head and made a vampire exactly to my taste 😏🩸
Such a wonderfu
Absolutely Amazing- so funny and so heartfelt! Would I normally say that having a roommate with a habit of keeping blood in the fridge is a red flag? Yes. Is this the exception? Absolutely!
Enjoyed and loved how light and easy it all was while keeping it comedic. Also enjoyed the tidbits of feeling like a failure and falling behind peers due to a lack of career, etc. wish it was a bit longer/had some extra bits towards the end of the book involving their relationship but other than that the romance was fantastic, Frederick was adorable and the vibes were immaculate!

This book and the plot had so much potential but it just wasn’t executed well. Nothing much really happened in the plot and the one time that something kind of urgent or tense happened, it was so clear that it was all going to be fine in the end and also was just over so quickly. There was no time to build tension or have me worry for the characters.
The romance also happened super quickly too, like there was hardly any build-up and the characters barely had any interaction before suddenly deciding they liked each other. I will say, the writing was good though and it was quick and easy to read. And while there were some cute moments, there were also parts that just felt really irrelevant and didn’t add to the plot, character development or the romance at all.
This book is just so different from any other vampire books. If you are looking for something fun and so fluffy and heartwarming, this book is for you!
I really enjoyed this, it was such a nice read and extremely comforting, I really liked it!
Again, it is not what you might expect if you like vampire books but this book is just as good and super refreshing.
It's a light and fun enough read, it just didn't wow me.
I personally prefer my vampire tales to be more on the dark side, so this felt a little too fluffy for me.
A silly and fun little book about an artist who ends up being roommates with a vampire - what's not to like?
This was a quick and easy read and was laugh aloud funny in some areas. I adored Frederick and couldn't get enough of him - what with him being so "Jane Austen" and gentlemanly I had no choice but to adore the fellow!
Despite all of this however, this book fell a little short for me and there wasn't enough depth to the characters and their progression for me to truly be invested in what happened to them. The romance went from 0 to 100 within a couple of chapters and it just wasn't believable for me.
Overall though, I still really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun and light-hearted experience!

My Roommate is a Vampire is a light-hearted, slow burn paranormal romance perfect for those who like a bit of magic mixed in with their romance. I thought it was fine, I didn’t love it, but it was a nice easy read.
This book definitely was not the most original of romances. I liked the characters individually but overall i think the story definitely needs to be worked on. I was not fond of the ending especially i think this book is the perfect example of how not to incorporate social media into a novel because it can sometimes make the story feel lazily written. That said if you want a short quite sweet romance where you dont have think that much then this may actually be for you. Also, the supernatural elements were honestly quite funny like vampires being able to generate fruit as one of their special abilities whilst others can fly.
Cassie is getting evicted by her landlord and has been looking for a new place to live that she can afford. She’s been looking at adds on Craigslist and Facebook for two weeks when she sees Frederick's add on Craigslist. He’s looking for a roommate, and with an asking price of only $200 a month Cassie can’t pass it up, even if she is a little suspicious…
The gorgeous cover really sparked my interest and the book didn’t disappoint. This debut by Jenna Levine is such a fun, fast paced paranormal romance with some laugh-out-loud moments. The romance between Frederick and Cassie was a lovely slow-burn, and the chemistry between them was so good.
The third act did feel a bit rushed in my opinion, the issue was resolved pretty easily and very quick. I would have liked the stakes to be a little higher, but that’s just my personal preference.
I really loved the multimedia aspect at the start of every chapter! There are text messages, diary entries, letters etc., so even though this is a single POV book from Cassie’s view you still got to see some of Frederick's thoughts and interactions with some of the ‘people’ in his life which were some of my fav moments that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter…
My Roommate Is a Vampire was such cute book and a lovely read for spooky season.
I can’t wait to read more of Jenna’s work. Might I suggest a book about Reginald? Pretty please? He was such a fun side character as Frederick's frenemy and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their text messages.
Now please excuse me while I go re-watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer...
