My Roommate is a Vampire, the debut novel from Jenna Levine, is riotously good fun. This hilarious rom com is being billed as a mash up between The Flat Share and Twilight, and I’ll tell you I’m so here for it. Add to that some mega Buffy references throughout and well I’m sold (Buffy was my honest to goddess teen obsession!). If you like a romance that’s also a whole heap of fun look no further.

Cassie finds herself needing a new place to life and pretty pronto, so when she sees an incredible property listed at an unbelievable price she knows there has to be a catch right? Her new roommate Frederick is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel. He also leaves her delightful notes and happens to be the most handsome man she’s ever met! There's no denying there's a spark between them - but there's also a secret… With true love at stake, will Frederick come clean?

Levine has written a book that is so fun and such a pure delight to read I sailed through it. I really liked both Cassie and Frederick and adored their interactions. I loved the explanation for why Frederick seemed so desperately out of place in the 21st century and all the ways that Cassie helped bring him up to speed. Honestly this book was a hoot and had me chuckling in several places.

I enjoyed all the little text exchanges, diary entries, emails and letters that were plotted throughout. They added so much to the story and showed different sides of the characters. I especially enjoyed the text exchanges between Frederick and Reginald (hilarious) and Frederick’s internet searches!

If you’re looking for a light hearted and funny romance, with vampires! look no further. I can’t wait to see what Levine writes next!

This novel was a light, fun read. I enjoyed it immensely and think it was definitely worth recommending to others. It was quick paced and the characters, especially the protagonist was interesting that made the book engaging. However, I was not too fond of the subplot with the *other* vampire. Overall I feel that the book was perfect as a lighthearted modern day vampire romance. A 4/5 for me :)

This book is probably the most random ARC I have ever requested and I’m still not quite sure what made me request it? (My inner twilight girl coming out?) but I actually found it to be a really enjoyable read. I think the whole vampire element was very much an add on so if you are going into this for the vampire I would say it’s probably not the one to pick up, but if you are going into this one wanting a cute funny romcom this book could hit the spot.

The relationship between the two MCs was a little Flatshare vibes with communication through letters. I thought the relationship was sweet and easy to read. Some of the language was a bit repetitive but it was easy to read and very engaging

I really didn’t love the side plot with the MMC mother and just the whole “twist” in the story and it just felt so unnecessary and if anything took away from the story rather than adding to it.

As I said the supernatural element wasn’t overwhelming in the story and if anything felt more of an afterthought. I’d recommend this book if you want something cute and easy that doesn’t require much energy to read whilst providing entertainment

If you were obsessed with the Morganville vampires as a teenager (like me), you will love this book. It’s sweet, swoon-worthy and a little steamy, one of those books that is absolutely perfect for getting under a blanket and losing an afternoon to a darkly fun love story with plenty of storybook romance and adventure.

Think Mr Darcy but in a modern romcom, with that comfortingly familiar sunshine/grump vibes and some hilarious antics trying to teach an old dog new tricks (Or a vampire how to use a smartphone?) I wanted to know a little more about our dear Frederick and his backstory as we only hear from Cassie but this definitely gave us the feeling of our narrator being a friend just catching us up on their magical love story. A fun, delightful read with slow-burn romance and cosy paranormal vibes.

Cassie is our main character who is being evicted and in desperate need of somewhere to live refusing to live with her best friend she finds somewhere that seems too good to be true on Craiglist.

Behold it is too good to be true. Her landlord is a Vampire (not a spoiler, it states that the roommate is a vampire in the title!

When she finds out what her landlord really is,she bolts and doesn't look back.

Can she give him another chance while helping him live in a modern world even with the feelings she harbors for him?

This was a fresh and enjoyable read, such a good book for a debut author. Had me laughing in all the right places. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

My Roommate is a Vampire is such a fun and feel good book, I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one sitting.
I absolutely love Cassie and Fredrick and really felt the chemistry between the two of them. Their character and relationship development was quirky and cute. I love them together, also who doesn’t love a sexy vampire!

Jenna Levine perfectly combines comedy and romance in My Roommate is a Vampire. This book was really fast paced and easy to read. I will be picking up a physical copy of this when it is released!

I look forward to reading more from Jenna Levine. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of My Roommate is a Vampire.

I got an ARC of this book and rated it 3 stars!

I did not know what to expect from something that was clearly set out to be a paranormal romcom, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! It is not my usual cup of tea, but I thought it was a fun read and a good palate cleanser.

The book follows Cassie (a struggling artist) who moves into a huge apartmert that is severely underpriced. She soon figures out that her roommate is not all he appears to be - which is obviously a vampire. My favourite part by far is when you discover what is actually in the locked room haha

Read this if you feel like something light and that won't break your brain.

Cassie needs to find a new place to live and comes across an apartment that’s too good to be true and Cassie finds herself living with Frederick J Fitzwilliam who is a little strange to say the least but in need of Cassie’s help.

This has all the cute, fluffy rom com vibes you would expect. Cassie and Frederick find themselves in some really funny moments as she tries to help him and as she does and through some flirtatious note writing they begin to develop such a cute relationship but Frederick is not all he seems and that leads to some real problems for them.

Overall I had a good time with this, it was cute, fun and easy to read.

I’m normally more of an enemies to lovers girlie so I wasn’t sure how I’d get on with this but the comedic moments were fantastic and I had no reason to be concerned.

Great fun and with a hint of spice and fantasy.

Today I am writing a review of an ARC that I read recently and that I loved so much!!

Thanks again to netgalley penguinrandomhouse and Jenna Levine for providing me with an ARC!

My roommate is a vampire is a truly quirky and funny paranormal romance between a young artist looking for an apartment to share and an immortal vampire from the vibes of Mr. Darcy super cinnamon roll looking for a roommate.

I loved Cassie and her behaviour so much but of course I loved our sexy vampire Frederick even more! The interactions between the two are perfect and the letters they wrote to each other were so sweet!

P.S. if I haven’t convinced you enough I’ll just tell you that our vampire is a swiftie 💖

I've been excited about this book since I heard about it.
Cassie is an artist, and feeling like a bit of a failure. She can't hold down a steady job, her art is too alternative to give her mainstream success and she's just been evicted from her apartment. When she stumbles across an advert for a room in a shared apartment - a very nice apartment, in a Very, Very nice neighbourhood - asking for well under the market rate, it seems too good to be true.
With a roommate who is perhaps a little odd...nocturnal...doesn't know what a saucepan is...and dresses like he's from the 1800s, really there were a lot of red flags there. But Frederick is kind, and respectful....and really, who can turn down a $200 dollar apartment?!
The fun begins in earnest when Cassie arrives home unexpectedly, and finds blood bags in the fridge, along with Frederick's long standing friend and general Agent of Chaos, Reginald. Forced to confront the fact that Frederick is a real life VAMPIRE, Cassie questions what Frederick actually needs a roommate for...well, to bring him up to date on the modern world of course!
A cute little rom-com, it takes a slightly odd turn when Frederick's mother turns up out of the blue, and Frederick is expected to put aside his growing feeling for Cassie for an arranged marriage he doesn't want!
I felt like that plot diversion wasn't really needed. The gold comes from the playful interactions between Cassie and Frederick and his misunderstandings about life in 2023 - there was no need to add unnecessary drama, a kidnapping and a blackmail plot, especially when it was resolved in a handful of pages. I would have happily read another 200 pages about Cassie helping Frederick into the 21st century and am sad we didn't get more of that.

Happy to pick up a sequel and more of the author's work, so a solid 3 star read for me :)

Thank you so much NetGalley for giving me a copy of this book to review. I was really intrigued by the title and cover of this book so I picked it up without even reading the plot, although the title kind of gives it away, and I am so glad I did.
There were moments when I had to stop myself from laughing out loud because I was in public, I think it combines humour and romance perfectly and didn't have too much drama, which always put me off a bit in romance books because I hate confrontation.
I loved all the main characters, I specially found Frederick adorable and hilarious.

I can't believe this was Jenna's debute novel! such a good romcom.
Easy high 4 stars for me.

My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna

Cassie is desperate after being served with an eviction notice by her landlord. She's drowning in a student loan debt with only part time work. She finds a room to let that sound too good to be true where she meets Fredrick j fitzwilliam. Who is hot stuff but the house looks like it’s from the last century but it’s cheap and Fredrick seems quirky but not a mass murder.

A quirky story very light hearted read the characters are worth the read. Reggie is something else! Follow the twists in this hopefully unlikely romance great light hearted fun

🧛My Roommate is a Vampire🧛

By Jenna Levine

Synopsis:

Two strangers. One apartment.
Will it be love at first . . . bite?

Cassie Greenberg needs a new place to live, and fast. When she finds an affordable apartment in a beautiful neighbourhood, she knows there must be a catch.

Of course, her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel.

He is also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, always asks about her day, and doesn't look half bad shirtless on the rare occasions they're both home and awake.

There's no denying there's a spark between them - but there's also a secret. . .

With true love at stake, will Frederick come clean?

🧛🧛🧛🧛🧛

The book I read prior to this one was The Flatshare, which starts in a very similar manner, with roommates sharing an apartment but never seeing each other. The comparison definitely stopped there though.

I did have quite high hopes for this one but it didn’t really meet them. I don’t feel like I got a lot of insight into either of the main characters so I struggled to connect with them.

The story moved along quickly enough, although I did wonder why no one seemed overly concerned about Frederick having been put into a 100 year coma by his so-called friend!

This one wasn’t really for me, but it was a nice enough read, so definitely don’t rule it out!

Thanks to @netgalley and @randomhouse for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

4⭐️

This was wacky and fun and had just the right amount of steam-tension-romance! I thought the plot was quite fun and really I feel like this book is just steamy silliness (complimentary). Super fun and I’d pick up another book by this author—I suspect there may be another one with Reggie and Amelia maybe??

I really enjoyed the concept of this novel and thought it was a fun read. Cassie is a struggling artist about to be kicked out of her flat, desperate for a place to live. Frederick is in need of a roommate to learn about modern society so despite all the red flags, Cassie moves in.

I enjoyed the twist on a dual POV without quite having a dual point of view. I loved the interactions Cassie and Frederick had and I often found my self laughing out loud.

The ending was a bit anticlimactic and having a job interview while knowing a character is in danger made it a bit disjointed and I feel took away from the character’s relationship but I liked the story arc and the way the story/characters developed.

3.5/5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had such high hopes for this book, unfortunately I DNF at around the 70% mark which is disappointing. That being said I did enjoy the first half of the book and the characters it just unfortunately wasn't for me.

My Roommate Is A Vampire is a a cute Rom-Com which follows Cassie as she struggles to balancing jobs and keeping an apartment which leads her to accepting a somewhat sketchy Roommate wanted listing online that sounds too good to be true. Here we meet Fredrick. While the book is all from Cassies POV we do get random diary entries or letters to and from Fredrick at the start of chapters which is a nice touch.
Now while I liked both of these characters and their interactions I struggled to see them as a couple and didn't feel there was much romantic chemistry between them. Perhaps if there was more of Fredericks POV I would be able to see the relationship develope and enjoy it more because it just felt like he was holding on to her as a life line as she was the closest to him and introducing him to a world far different to the one he was used to.

As secondary characters go I loved Reginald even though he only appeared briefly twice. I think I would be interested in a book based on his character and backstory because it would perhaps give some more background on Fredrick as well as it being fun read which follow his antics.

My Roommate is a Vampire is a wonderful and delightfully lighthearted romantic comedy.

I just loved this story. The characters are soft, likeable and awkwardly funny. There are steamy bits and pieces within the storyline.

The plot is straightforward and it is easy to read. I loved the story as a whole.

I would, however, have loved to have a little from Frederick’s POV. Maybe a follow-up book?

Definitely a must for all romantic enthusiasts. Brilliant read.

Thank you, NetGalley for the advanced copy.

This is such a fun rom-com! It’s cosy, heartwarming and laugh-out-loud funny. I really enjoyed the double POV too, Fitzwilliam’s chapters were so wholesome. If you enjoy paranormal romance stories, you’re going to love this one. I cannot wait to get the physical copy- the cover is absolutely stunning!

Thanks for the ARC and introducing to me to a book which had me smiling from start to finish with a few giddy squeals in the middle. This book is UNDENIABLY wholesome and feels fresh despite being about one of the most explored supernatural pairings that has ever been written about: a vampire and a human.
Light hearted, fun and truly delightful. My only mild complaint is that there are not even more adventures about Frederick learning about the modern world!
Highly recommend for anyone who loves a HEA, a heroine who makes some ill advised risks and a hero who is out of his depth awkward and irresistibly charming. Perfect for people who want to throw Bridgerton, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Bridget Jones in a blender and get a 2023 spooky season joy.
