Love love loved this! It was FABULOUS. This is the type of book that draws you in and then you become obsessed to the point where sleep is not longer on the radar. Please read this so I have people to talk about the wonder that it is with.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. First of all, I want to promise you that Frederick is an absolute cinnamon roll and I love him and will not hear anyone say anything different. I enjoyed parts of Cassie’s character, but it was Frederick that kept me reading.
After being in a vampiric coma for a century he’s looking for someone to teach him how life works in the 21st century and this where Cassie steps in.
Throughout the book, she teaches Frederick how we as humans live and text and how we take pictures of food for the ‘gram. This is the part that got me and was actually a great grasp on modern types. Why do we post pictures of food? Frederick definitely doesn’t get why.
We also see the two develop feelings for each other. This was a part of the book that didn’t feel ‘real’ to me, despite the book being about a vampire housemate.
It seemed from the get go that they caught feelings for each other without knowing each other. And then boom, they’re in love. It just didn’t feel realistic and I would have liked to have seen a bit more tension between them. To add a bit of believability to the story.
As mentioned previously, it was Frederick that kept me interested in the book. How clueless the poor guy is. How he was a complete softie who would do anything for his girl. I think I would have been better if he was a bit more 3D though. We learn very little about his past apart from where he’s from.
Cassie was ok. And that is all I can say. Ok. She is a 32 year old who constantly bangs on about how she can’t keep a job or a flat for more than a couple of months. She makes art out of trash from the streets and when Levine tried to describe this in the book, I just couldn’t picture it. Cassie didn’t feel like a ‘grown up’ character to me. I read her as a twenty something still trying to get her life together.
I’d say that it was the first 60% of the book kept me hooked. When I started it, I couldn’t put it down. But as we got past this point, the plot just seemed to go downhill. Frederick is kidnapped because he chooses to marry someone his mother has arranged and then it just felt so rushed. He gets rescued and thanks Cassie and that’s pretty much it.
I still heavily enjoyed the book, and god am I glad I purchased the Fairyloot special edition before I read it. I’m still keen to see what Levine has to offer.

I received a free copy of My Roommate is a vampire by Jenna Levine from the publishers via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
I love fantasy books and I love romance books. This book had both the fantasy with vampires and the romance. I usually don’t like reading stories about vampires as they all seem really cliche and not realistic but Jenna captivated me and made the whole situation really realistic that I enjoyed this story very much. The main characters Cassie and Frederick were so loveable and I was rooting for them throughout the whole story..
I would love to know what happened to them after the end of the book as it left me wanting more…..
II would fully recommend you read this book.

Sometimes you just need a fun read and this was definitely that.
It ticked all the boxes for me it that regard: Hilarious and silly but with great characters and a romance I was 100% behind.
I felt the end drama was a little rushed and resolved too easily but other than that, I enjoyed every second!
Thank you Netgalley and Random House UK Cornerstone for providing me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review

There isn’t much in the way of plot, but Cassie and Fredrick more than make up for it. The vampire jokes were top notch, Freddie's discomfort with the modern world was very well written.
I do wish Cassie had more interaction with other characters, I think this was the biggest impact on the plot

DNFed at 45%
I don't think the book is actively bad, but it just never kept my attention.
The writing is easy enough to read, though nothing to write home about; I liked the details about Cassie's art but nothing about her compelled me; Fitz's lack of knowledge about modern day led to some amusing moments but also he is not believably 200 years old (I think the author has an idea of What Old Stuff Feels Like and not quite enough historical understanding of clothing, architecture, customs, etc); the reveal of him being a vampire was remarkable lacklustre, etc etc

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.
This book is a really good debut book for Jenna Levine. The premise behind this book is so different to anything else I’ve read and I really enjoyed it.
Frederick as a main character is all your Georgian era fantasies come true. The written letters/ texts/ emails to and from Frederick at the start of each chapter were a perfect way to provide his POV without actually dedicating entire chapters to his side of the story.
This book is a fun and easy read, but unfortunately the writing leaned towards cheesy at times.

Cassie isn't in a great position financially, so takes up a suspicious offer for a cheap room advertised by a stranger called Frederick. He is gorgeous but weird - seeming to have no idea how the real world operates.
This was very much a paranormal rom com, and was very light-hearted and funny. Definitely laughed out loud several times while reading.
Both Cassie and Frederick are great characters. Cassie's passion for art and staying true to herself shone through - I'd love to work at that library! And Frederick's enthusiasm for learning about normal things was so well done - him learning the internet was particularly funny.
I loved how the whole story is told from Cassie's point of view, but at the start of each chapter there are emails, texts, letters or diary entries from Fredrick's point of view. It gave little insights into him that you could then watch Cassie discover.
And I have to give a shout out to Reggie, who was a hilarious side character (there was definitely set up for him to get a book in future).
Definitely read this if you're looking for a fun time with some vampires.

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc of this book*
Easy, cheesy read
Enjoyable read
Wish I knew more about Frederick’s backstory

I’m not going to lie, it was the cover that totally made me want to read this and absolutely reflects all the cartoony goodness of this book. Guess what?! Her roommate is a vampire! Shocker! Cassie has fallen on hard times so when an unbelievable deal on a really nice apartment comes up she jumps at it even though a number of read flags about her new roommate wave themselves in her face. It’s a steal so she puts her doubts aside and begins cohabiting with mysterious but super hot Frederick and tries not to think about how super hot in pale and interesting way he is. In a nutshell Cassie is the worst and Frederick is the best. Cassie is dumb as a tree and she is also incredibly judgmental she has a whole rant about how horrible Frederick’s hunting paintings are then has a breakdown because someone trashes her art, she’s a total hypocrite. The book is saved by Frederick who is the sweetest vampire to ever unlive and takes wardrobe advice from K-drama. He’s the best. This is straight up cartoon fluff in a good way.

This was just as much fun as I hoped it would be. I had such a good time reading this, and I could easily see myself rereading it, because it was mostly a really fluffy, really funny book. I especially loved the clash between Frederick's old-fashioned manner of speech, and Cassie's (and Reginald's, particularly in his texts) modern manner of speech. This created a lot of opportunity for humour, and the author jumped on it.

I loved this story. It would have been 5 stars but I felt that I wanted a bit more angst! The characters were loveable and I hope that there is a second book!

This was a quick and fun read. I read it in one sitting. I was actually surprised at how this turned out . Wasn’t sure what to expect but I definitely enjoyed the writing and the characters . The humour, especially at the start of the book had me in stitches. would definitely recommend. looking forward to more work from this author .

I found this book to be ok. It felt slightly predictable and I didn’t like the main characters as much as I wanted to but it was still an enjoyable read.

This was the perfect romcom
So funny and cheeesy.
Frederick was amazing, I laughed for half the book 😍😍

What a sweet, funny read. I'd seen a review of this shared and so jumped at the chance to read this ahead of its release (thanks netgalley)
Loved everything about this cute PNR romcom, which made me laugh out loud and melt all at once. How totally cute were Frederick and Cassie. I adored their sweet little notes to each other, how totally funny (without meaning to be) Frederick was and seeing these guys get together.
Some hot, spicy moments for sure, but honestly this was just such a fun, sweet read. Lighthearted, heartwarming and just down right adorable.
This will definitely need a place on my bookshelves and a reread when I just need a bookish hug.

My Roommate is a vampire is a fun, easy read that I really enjoyed on a surface level.
The premise is brilliant and I really wished it had leaned it to that a bit more. Some of the best moments revolved around the mmc, a charming vampire who has been asleep for the past 100 years, learning to adjust to modern life, I defiantly laughed out loud a few times! However, apart from that, some occasional flight and a spot of blood play, the whole vampire thing didn’t feel that relevant to the story.
I also didn’t connect to the fmc, the story is mostly told from hrs pov and she came across a bit immature and clueless at times. She didn’t seem like a great fit for the mmc, although he seems to become quite instantly infatuated with her for some reason.
The third act drama also felt a bit low stakes for a book involving vampires. I was left with the impression that this book doesn’t fully capitalise on its potential and what could have made it stand out from other romances.
Yet, there are still plenty of adorable, funny moments and It’s certainly worth a read if it interests you.

A funny and witty romcom with a twist!
I was intrigued by this book as soon as I saw the title and was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy to review. The story has your typical romcom features: humorous situations, boy-meets-girl and the sparks soon appear, that one friend who is against the relationship forming,,, However, the delightful twist in this story: one of them is a vampire. It was this aspect that made the story all the more interesting for me as I’m not typically a romcom reader, but love a vampire story. The MMC was sweet, charming and just the right amount of helpless as he tried to navigate life in the 21st century; his nature of taking things literally was very endearing and led to some very cute moments between the characters. The FMC was relatable and endearing in her own way.
Overall, this was an easy but enjoyable read (I read the whole book in one sitting in around 3 hours) .With the added bonus of a little spice between the characters - as long as handsome, powerful, brooding, 300-year-old vampires are your thing - then this is a great summer read that I would recommend!

My Roommate is a Vampire is a cozy, cute and fun read. It was such a lovely and light hearted read with an easy flowing plot. I liked then authors writing style and felt it read nicely.
The relationship between the two main characters was a good kind of awkward at first before changing into sweet and funny. There is just a little bit of spice in this story and it fit in well. I really enjoyed the romance in this story and felt that it was just enough with the slow build that is built up from the beginning.
Cassie is the main character who is down on her luck and facing eviction before taking a risk on an ad that is a low price and in a great area. As well get to know Cassie you can see her passion that she has for her art and how she keeps going when down on her luck.
Frederick is our Vampire who is looking for a roommate to help him catch up on the twenty first century. I enjoyed the way we got to see the text messages between the two throughout this book. I felt this really added to the story. I love how he tries really hard to get to know Cassie whilst trying to keep his secret!
My only tiny issue the ending and how the book ended. I felt that it needed a little more to it than what we got.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I don't really know how I feel about this one. I was expecting a cute fluffy vampire rom-com, but this wasn't what I expected. The writing wasn’t very immersive, I felt like it was very much a show and tell kind of book which really made it hard for me to pick or or carry on with.
The main part of this book I liked was the written correspondence between the two main characters. Im a sucker for a love note at home so this appealed to me a lot. Some of the romance was cute too, a little cliche in places but not bad. I liked the spice, although it still fell slightly flat. I needed a bit more oomph, maybe if Frederick had become more possessive over Cassie after the blood play?
Overall, a lighthearted read but not my particular cup of tea
