I thought this was fantastic!!! This masterfully crafted thriller is a captivating dance of motives and mysteries, keeping you captivated by its pulse-racing narrative. Loved the characters and story and everything about it.
Synopsis——. You want to be one of them. Until you know them.
Ex-journalist Tash has been searching for a story to launch her freelance career. But she has also been searching for something else: new friends to help her navigate motherhood.
She sees them at her son's new playgroup. The other mothers. The sleek, the sophisticated, the successful mothers. The women she wants to be.
And then one day they welcome her into their circle and Tash discovers the kind of life she has always dreamt of; their elegant London townhouses a far cry from her cramped basement flat and endless bills.
They seem to have everything. But they also have their secrets.
And it's soon clear that not everyone at the playgroup can be trusted.
My thoughts
I loved Greenwich Park so was excited to dive in to this novel and it definitely wasn’t a disappointment!
Tash a struggling journalist is the narrator along with Sophie the nanny who Tash begins to look in to her death.
Tash also becomes friends with three other mothers at the playgroup and she tries to live within their lavish lifestyles .
The author layers the storyline and characters beautifully with lots of possibilities and ‘what happened’ ‘who did it’ scenarios.
You think you know but you don’t know !!!
A book I devoured in two days and one I recommend and urge you to buy !! It is out no
A great second book from this 'must-read' author.
What more can you want? Characters that are fully-formed from the earliest point, a tightly knitted plot which is woven with recognisable characteristics, albeit more extreme than you'd routinely hope to meet at your local playgroup.
For any mother that has pushed her pram wheels across the threshold of the local playgroup, Katherine Faulkner will have you identifying with the Tash as she seeks out playdates on behalf of her son, Finn. When a group of wealthier women take an interest in her she loosens her judgement, even more so when a story regarding a missing nanny seems to be the answer to her journalistic prayers.
We follow Tash on a torturous route to the truth from afar, and with delight.
I loved it!
Loved reading this exclusive extract.
Very intrigued to read the whole book.
Definitely adding it to my tbr list
The start of this book is really promising and I really look forward to reading the rest of it as it really looks like it's going to be a good one.
The Other Mothers is a motherhood-themed thriller that has some killer hooks and intrigue even at the very beginning, and I couldn't help but feeling that this is one to watch.
A very intriguing start to a book. With the brief insight to an incident in Cornwall, the difficult playgroup drop offs and the private investigation in to a drowning, my interest is definitely piqued. I’ll be buying myself a copy of the full book!
I was so gutted when I realised this was only an extract and not the entire book, so now I can't wait to read the whole book as it sounds like a good read!
It's always difficult to leave a real review with an extract - but at the end I very much wanted to keep reading so that's a clear sign of some brilliant writing. The deep-seeded tension was evident from the first page, with a strange anxious energy that made me feel extremely unsettled. As we first meet our cast of characters they're introduced well enough to make the recognisable but leaves a lot of questions about who they are under the surface level. I'd definitely read the full manuscript.
Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this exclusive extract. It had me hooked straight away and is well written. Its a great teaser. Looking forward to read the full book.
Seems like this could be a great read with clever hooks from the start. I would love to be able to leave a full and objective review, but sadly I don’t feel able to give this from a short excerpt. I hope I will have the opportunity to read and review the full piece of work for the author and publisher.
Bit confused?
After requesting this extract it took me a few pages to realise i had already read the book?
Having said that it was a great read and well worth 5 stars.
have been sent the full copy of this to read and review so not sure why this extract has appeared but will give 5 stars and post review for full book under that
Hooked already!!! A really flowing writing style, characters that already seem well written and compelling...... and I can't wait to read the full book
The opening chapter threw me but its a great hook in.. As an extract this is well written. Its a great teaser . It appears as either a who done it or something happens as a result of the growing friendship at the playground.
Would love to read the full thing just to see how it develops.. fantastic aspect. 5 stars
