Linda/Lindy is perusing a 50+ web site and is startled to see the face of her 2nd husband looking out at her. The only character in this book worth knowing is the dog! None of the others are even worth mentioning as they’re all ghastly. It was easy to read despite the confusion and different things happening, all a bit far fetched. Would have better to cut out much of the main character’s thoughts as she droned on and on. Incidentally Norfolk faces the North Sea, not the Atlantic Ocean!

Wow, this was such a twisty read and kept on surprising me. I read it in one sitting as I just couldn't put it down. Looking forward to more from the author.

A woman with a faithless husband, a crisis of self and a need to be loved, who eventually finds herself through the guise of a thriller.
As thrillers go, it’s not fast and snappy. It’s a longer, wordier read, but nicely told. Weirdly it “ends” with 100 pages to go, yet those final pages are some of its best.
I found I identified with Linda too much, because she is so well drawn. This is a character study more than a thriller, and captures a lot of life in its 300 pages. By the end, you really feel you’ve walked a year in Linda’s shoes, it’s not a year I’d like to relive!

Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy of this book! This book synopsis sounded very intriguing and I was excited to jump in. However, I found the pacing of the book quite slow, and it seemed at times there was not much going on. Overall it was a bit repetitive for my tastes. I think many others will enjoy this book and I look more from this author.

An interesting story which was an entertaining read, not great but kept me entertained throughout. I would read another of this authors books.

Great synopsis and first part of the book. Unfortunately after that it moved at a very slow pace. It has lots of repetition and the story dragged on a bit too much.

Linda had the ideal life. She had been married to Jim for twenty eight years and had two lovely daughters. But Linda yearned for more. She divorces Jim and decides to travel and meets and marries Marcus. Two years later things aren’t quite as exciting and one night Marcus drowns in the sea at Crete. Linda is left penniless as she discovers that Marcus has spent all her divorce settlement. She ends up going home and living in a rented flat and working in a chip shop. Linda’s recollection of the night Marcus drowned is hazy. She knows that they had been drinking and arguing but is not certain as to whether she pushed him into the sea causing him to drown. Linda’s world is turned upside down as the profile of a man called Tony Fortin appears on a dating app and she is convinced that it is Marcus. But how can that be? Linda enlists the helpof her best friend and her ex husband to help solve the mystery. I enjoyed reading this book as it kept me guessing with all the twists and turns. A recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

A good thriller with lots of twists and turns. I found the middle a little slow then the end seemed to wrap up quickly. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC

CAN PUBLISHERS PLEASE STOP MARKETING BOOKS AS UNPUTDOWNABLE?!?! I mean, I would also like them to stop adding "completely gripping" in the title as well because nine times out of ten, I have found them to be the most boring books ever. And sadly, this one was no exception.

None of the characters were particularly likable, especially Linda, and considering the amount of time we spend in her head, this was a huge turn-off for me as a reader. In fact, the more I learned about her the more I disliked her, she was the catalyst for everything that happened, yet she loved to act like she was the victim.

I also did not appreciate the way the author seemed to lead us by the nose, telling us what we should be feeling instead of letting us form our own conclusions based on the information given to us.

Once you add in all of the twists that I am sure were meant to be enticing, but ended up being confusing, the speculation of certain characters and the absolutely unnecessary drama of others, this one quickly spiraled into something so bogged down I couldn't wait to be done with.

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

Linda is grieving the loss of her husband, Marcus while also struggling to accept the estrangement from her daughters, following her divorce from her first husband Jim. As one too many strange incidents occur, Linda begins to wonder more about the night that Marcus disappeared…

The pace of this book was quite slow initially. However, halfway through the pace increases significantly, with many twists and turns.
Each character was quite unlikable at times but I think that stayed true to the main theme of the book, in being true to oneself and not worrying about pleasing or being acceptable/likeable to other.

The ending of the book was very unpredictable, as were many of the twists, which keep the reader gripped, guessing and turning the page to find out who is behind what. These were well executed and enabled the story to remain unpredictable up until the very end. Very enjoyable!

Unfortunately I just couldn't connect to the characters in this book and it really stopped me from enjoying the book.

However I did enjoy the authors writing style so I would definitely try more of their books. This one was just not for me.

So you think your second husband is dead, and you might have been the one to kill him? Linda left her husband and daughters to run away with Marcus! She thought he was the sexiest most exciting man she'd ever met. Her family thinks she's having a midlife crisis! One night changes everything. Linda has no memory of what happened to Marcus the day he died, but she believes she may have caused his death. She comes back penniless, her daughters cannot forgive her for what she did to their father. As time goes on, Linda thinks Marcus may still be alive. She turns to her ex-husband and best friend for help in finding out what really happened to Marcus. The story took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did I found it to be a very enjoyable read. I did guess what was happening before the end so I guess it was a little predictable.

Interesting premise and opening scene. After that, the first half of the book moved slowly for me and I took an immediate dislike to Linda and her woe is me attitude. There was a lot of repetition in this part and that dragged the story down for me. The book picks up some energy with the return of ex-husband Jim into Linda's life.

The length, pacing and repetition of content wasn't a match for my reading style. The twists were easy to figure out and Linda was unlikable throughout - but not the good kind of unlikable, but the irritating type. The biggest surprise for me was what happened between the sisters. This is just my opinion and I encourage others to check out the book and see if it is for them!

Thank you to Joffe Books and Netgalley for the gifted earc to read and review.
