Sleep No More is the first book in The Lost Night Files series by American author, Jayne Ann Krentz. Author of two successful thrillers, Ambrose Drake’s career has stalled after an incident some months earlier that has turned his life into something worthy of his own plots.
Attending a writers’ publicity event, Ambrose suffered an extended transient episode of amnesia, after which his lifelong perception of people’s auras was greatly enhanced, endowing him with a predictive power. But also exacerbated, his nightmares and sleep-walking, prompting a visit to the Carnelian Sleep Institute. There, he wakes in the early hours convinced the woman in the next room has been murdered, but his concerns are dismissed by the director of the clinic, Dr Conrad Fenner.
Weeks on, he’s equally convinced that the man he was to meet for information at Carnelian’s abandoned asylum has also been murdered. Understanding how bizarre this will sound to his family and the police, he contacts The Lost Night Files podcasters. These three women, Pallas Llewellyn, Talia March and Amelia Rivers, were strangers until their own amnesiac experiences. They now investigate cold case disappearances, and he hopes they can help him to decide what is real.
At the ruin of the Carnelian Psychiatric Hospital for the Insane, Pallas Llewellyn’s trance has her automatically drawing snakes on the staircase: something bad has happened here. But when Ambrose Drake turns up, she’s extremely wary: the women have already once been lured into a dangerous situation by a scamming psychopath. His story, though, has so many parallels to their own (amnesia, enhanced psychic abilities, a feeling of paranoia) that she’s prepared to work with him to investigate his claims.
Under the guise of researching for a new podcast, they broadcast their interest and begin asking questions. Their enhanced abilities allow them, together, to decide the authenticity of what they’re told. As partners, they also speculate on the possibility that they are part of someone’s experiment. They certainly are being observed, if not necessarily by whom they think.
While setting the scene for further books in what promises to be an intriguing series, Krentz gives the reader a tale that features drug dealing, hallucinogens, embezzlement, illegal drug trials, and a good dose of the paranormal. her main protagonists are appealing, gutsy and resourceful, and it will be interesting to see where the author takes this series.

Jayne Ann Krentz is a prolific author of paranormal romance + suspense, so pretty much if you like to read, you'll love her books. She also writes for different genre under different names so it's a good chance you've already read a few of her books and didn't know it.
SLEEP NO MORE is the first book in a planned trilogy. The backstory-
three women escaped a fire at the hotel in which they were staying overnight. They wake the next morning with no memory of the night before, but their paranormal senses have been enhanced. The three, Pallas, Talia and Amelia start a podcast as part of their efforts to remember their Lost Night....the name of their podcast. Three women + planned trilogy = a book for each one.
The podcast receives a request for help from Ambrose Drake, a man who suffers from chronic insomnia. He attended a sleep study at the Carnelian Sleep Institute but has no memory of the night he spent there. But his memories are starting to break through, he's certain he witnessed a murder during the night. This first book is centered on their investigation with the overall arc of the podcast and the mystery of what happened to Pallas, Talia and Amelia during their lost night. A complete story plus the arcs to keep you coming back for more. So follow Jayne Ann Krentz to make sure you don't miss book #2.

I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
I absolutely love this author so was thrilled to be able to read this
loved it

This is the first book in a trilogy, so unanswered questions will be cleared up as the trilogy progresses. Pallas and Ambrose are classic JAK characters with some paranormal powers added in. It is a good story, however, it is more focused on the mystery than on building a relationship between Pallas and Ambrose.

I was excited to read a current Jayne Anne Krentz thriller but didn’t read the full blurb. Slightly sceptical about the paranormal aspect, I decided to give it a go. As always really well written. But the paranormal twist made it a bit too quirky for me so whilst it was good I didn’t love it. A slow burn but a good storyline and interesting characters.
3.5 stars

Several months ago three women stayed the night at the Lucent Springs Hotel - The hotel burnt down the same night BUT its a night that all three women have no memory off , they just have a feeling that all is not as it seems .
The three have now come together to investigate cold cases via their podcast hoping to find answers to their own questions about psychic enhancements along the way .
Pallas LLewellyn has received a tip off about an abandoned asylum in Carnelian where she meets Ambrose Drake - the man who sent her the tip . He also has experienced psychic visions and lost memories , but his were of a murder that no one believes took place .............. is someone covering up a murder or is Ambrose imagining what he thinks he saw ?
Working together to find out exactly what happened at the Sleep Institute places the couple in danger for someone does not want the truth to see the light of day and will kill to keep their secrets
This is yet another entertaining , suspense filled romantic thriller from the Author - the romance element however is a slow burn , which in this case I preferred .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Another page turner!
JAK is one of my favourite authors, and this does not disappoint! A strong FMC, a weird asylum, lost nights, and a slow burn romance that gave me all the feels! Pallas and Ambrose were a great couple - I really enjoyed this paranormal mystery!

I have loved a lot of this author’s books but this was a disappointment. It didn’t even feel like one of hers. I found it predictable and boring. The characters never came to life and the plot was so ridciuculous that I could not suspend disbelief. Sorry, but this one wasn’t for me.
