ARC received for review

This picks up after Hot Blooded. Luke and Keira have a history and have to work together to save a child and fight the bad guys that are still after their crew. Mistakes are forgiven and love blossoms. Bad guys are still there maybe in book three they'll go down.

this is a second chance romance with the same overall story line as hot blooded. so we still have that parnormal vibe s(powers) , angst, tension and second chance romance. This book also has that little kid stuck in the middle of something bigger than everyone. I feel because the stories are so similiar it made me not enjoy this book honest. This book differs because of the time line being 3 years after the mysterious fire.

The story reads almost for younger adults. It’s sound’s entertaining. It has some exciting moments. The diverse characters sounds like a few of them have some chips on their shoulders that they need to work through. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Hot Blooded, I was very happy to see yet another story in this series. As mentioned before, I had Abigail Owen’s story in mind when first reading Hot Blooded. With this part I had already realized that these were ordinairy people, who got strange effects from an unknown toxic. And the government is all to happy to cover it up.

Sounds familiar? And although you can read Shadow Guardian as a standalone, I would recommend reading the first story as well, because it will give you some more insight into the lives of Keira and Luke.

Same as with Hot Blooded, this part is full of suspense, twist and turns and a very cute little boy in need of rescuing. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and I’m looking forward to reading more stories about the firefighters, who where involved in the chemical fire.

Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ out of 5
I have been looking for a series like this for a long time! 10 years ago I would love reading military books with a hint of the supernatural but there has been a massive gap in the market since. Then I started this series and it was an immediate WOW! This is what has been missing!

Our hero and heroine were both in an explosion years ago that gave them and the rest of their firefighting crew powers. Fast forward a couple of years and the whole crew has split up and gone in different directions until our hero and heroine are thrown together on a mission that reignited the feelings they had for each other. It’s then a race against the clock to save themselves from a government agency that wants them and a little boy who speaks no English dead.

I will be honest- second chance romances are not my favourite trope and yet I was completely enthralled by this couple and the plot of this book. It brought action, angst, sweet moments and totally hot 🔥🔥🔥 moments. I am 100% invested in this series and after this book I’m literally DYING for the next one!

This is the second book in the Phoenix Rising series about firefighters injured in a chemical fire that leaves them with unusual capabilities. Here the story focuses on Keira and Luke, former teammates reunited three years after the fire that changed their lives. Keira is drawn to five-year-old Mateo, one of many children being held by a cult. She doesn’t understand the connection but only knows that she needs to save him. She is assigned as a sharpshooter at the siege of the cult and Luke winds up being assigned there as well. Needless to say they were each surprised to see the other.

Their journey is action packed and filled with surprising twists and turns. You will not regret picking this one up and will not want to stop until done. I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series.

Thank you NetGalley, Skye Jordan and Author Collective 20 for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the second book in an incredible series about firefighters with superpowers. This one focuses on Luke and Keira, a couple whose lives were turned upside down by a chemical fire. Three years later, they reunite while searching for a missing child. The chemistry between them is off the charts, and their powers are stronger together. But their past issues still haunt them. This book is intense, with non-stop action, drama, and a rollercoaster of emotions. I couldn't put it down!

Coming in hot with Book 2 from @skyejordanauthor “Phoenix Rising” series about firefighters who had their DNA scrambled during a warehouse explosion and now they all have super powers and the government wants to kill them. PS- don’t trust the government #notaconspiracist.

Keira is an FBI agent and Luke is an ATF agent. The two are former lovers and firefighters who saw their relationship explode after they were almost blown up while fighting a fire. They meet again when they help save a little boy from a Waco-like compound and their fiery love is immediately reignited… as is the burning in their loins for each other. Unfortunately, Keira and the boy (who only speaks Greek) get kidnapped by her colleague (spoiler alert, he’s a bad guy planted by the enemy) and that’s when the plot blasts off into a full blown intense thriller where Keira and Luke are constantly almost dying. When they aren’t running from death, they keep trying to have trauma sex, but fail bc that little Greek kid keeps cockblocking them…and bc they both forgot to pack condoms for work that day. There are many twists and turns as Keira, Luke, and the firefighting gang basically turn into special ops vigilantes as they try to uncover secrets and dismantle a classified government program.

Not gonna lie this book gave me raging anxiety, because it def leans much more heavily on the action/suspense and less on the smut. Suspense make me anxious. Smut makes me calm. I had to take many breaks to dissociate over in Candy Crush land while reading this, but my curiosity for all things horny made me forge on. Despite all that, I really like this series and am committed to taking down the US government alongside this little crew of fire mutants. This books is great for that thrill seeker who also enjoys lusty pervs who ignore their personal security and safety to bone. This isn’t a standalone, so I would strongly recommend reading “Hot Blooded” first.

Smut- 2 stars
Romance- 4.2 stars
Story- 4.3 stars
Danger banging- 10 stars. Always in favor.

I read Hot Blooded (the book before this one in the Phoenix Rising series) and kept wondering what happened next. I was so excited to realize that there was a follow up book! Shadow Guardian picks up the story of the firefighters from book one but some time has passed and the group has splintered. Luke was devasted when he lost Keira following the event in book one of the series. This story picks up a few years later when fate throws them back together during a dangerous situation. Keira's life has taken a major turn and she has no desire to rekindle anything with Luke. Luke is hurt but wants Keira in his life if at all possible. They have to defeat an unstoppable enemy and break through the barriers from their past to find their way back to each other. Can they survive long enough to make it happen?

Luke is kind of blind to the realities of their situation. I enjoyed watching him work through each and every issue and change his stance. His dedication to Keira and his belief that they could work as a couple was bottomless. It was impressive. He's not a really deep character but he gets a lot of relationship growth in the story. Keira has a lot of baggage and fears for her future. The author did a good job weaving her history and her potential future into a cohesive character. She had a lot of relationship growth, too. Outside of the relationship between the two main characters, there's a lot of action. The author fills in the conspiracy that caused the team to develop supernatural powers and introduces elements for future stories. This is an action packed, non-stop story.

I don't understand how Luke was fire service and ATF, but I'll overlook that because it was necessary for Luke and Keira to reconnect. There were other elements of the story that made no sense like the fact that Luke and Keira were endless fonts of energy when a real person would have collapsed from adrenaline fatigue but if you can accept that it's that sort of story then you might enjoy it.

This is a contemporary second-chance romance. It is book 2 and I whole heartedly recommend you read book 1 first. I will read more from this author in the future.

Shadow Guardian
By Skye Jordan
Book Two

**I received a copy of this book from Net Galley and Author Collective 20 in exchange for a honest and voluntary review**

This is the second book in the series and continues with Luke Ransom and Keira O'Shay both who now have special powers after a suspicious fire. They both work for the ATF now and meet again at a Waco lie compound again. She's there to rescue the children especially Mateo who is a coworkers son but when the raid injuries them something doesn't seem right and leads to more questions of why is the Army taking over the investigation. How does Mateo have a special connection to Mateo and why does his father suddenly shows up?

Lots of questions still to be answered and where will they all stand once the truth comes out?

First off, I didn't know this book was the second of a series (obviously, I didn't read the first one) but I didn't feel like I was missing something. I really liked that book.

Keira is on a mission to save a little boy that have been kidnapped. She feels a strong bond to him even though she doesn't know him. In order to save the boy, she has to work with the last person she would want to be doing this with.

I don't know what it is about that book, but as I said, I didn't feel like this book was the second of a series. I liked how all the parts that were from the past were explained, without dragging on too long. It was action packed, but with a few slow moments where you could catch your breath. This book made angry, made me cry, made me happy and sometimes all at once!

I loved it and now I need to read the first (of course) and I can't wait for the third!

I absolutely love this series. This book was SO good that I couldn’t put it down. It picks up where the first book ended. You get to see Ransom and Keira reconnect and with that reconnection came so much more. Ransom has loved Keira for so long and he is ready to pick back up where they left off and make his dreams come true. Keira has had such a terrible life when she was a kid and she is determined to never have to have those feelings again. Her entire life is shaken when she is told huge news and when she is finally able to verbalize what she has been feeling so long for Ransom. They have so many obstacles ahead of them but they can get through it all with each other.

Second book in this superb series about a group of fire fighters who gain extra sensory abilities after been caught in a blast from a fire they attended. The first book is Hot Blooded and I do recommend that you read this first just to give you the back ground of the group.

This latest offering is the story of Luke with everything that was going on with his life and his new abilities Luke wanted something that was is so he started putting pressure on his girlfriend Keira to marry and start a family But his ultimatum back fired when Keira choose her career as a FBI agent over marriage and family Now three years later they reconnect when Keira becomes obsessed with the case of a missing child one she has finally tracked down. Soon all that stands between her and danger is Luke Can he protect her and the child when the government is trying to clean anyone who can implicate them. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride that will keep you engaged to the last page

Fast-paced, filled with emotions that will have you devouring page after page.

Loved this story. Shay and Luke have a history and they hit the ground running. There is so much tension and conflict between these two that it keeps everything going. Both are incredible characters that mesh and clash so perfectly, now add in the team and it’s a perfect cocktail party where you just want to sit back and watch the fun and games. The suspense plot was devious, evil, and heart-wrenching which had me on the edge of my seat from page one until the last. The romance had me cheering for these two all the way.

Quick note: I did not read book 1 in the series and it did not interfere with the story. I am, however, going to go back and read it as I’m dying to learn Teague and Alyssa’s story. Highly recommend checking this book and series out if you love really well-written romantic suspense or paranormal that isn’t vamp or weres.

So, I’m the lucky duck that stumbled upon this book having no idea it was part of series… and holy cow am I thankful that I did! Such an awesome book, now I can’t wait to go back and read the first in the series!

Backstory: Team of firefighters working a hazmat fire at a warehouse get caught up in a chemical explosion. Results of the fire and chemical exposure have now given each of them “extraordinary” gifts in the form of paranormal abilities. This entire incident forever changed their lives both personally and professionally, causing them each to find their way managing this new reality, facing an onslaught of challenges more difficult than the fires they were used to fighting. During this time, Luke and Keira are dating and madly in love. As time goes on, Luke wants to be a father while Keira starts panicking under the pressure. They split when Luke issues an ultimatum and Keira chooses to pursue a career with the FBI rather than settling down to start a family.

Present Day: 3 years later and Keira is an FBI hotshot with an unexplainable drive to find this particular missing child that she’s been borderline obsessing over for over a year. Finally, she’s located him to a compound in the desert, held hostage with an unknown number of victims and a hostile former government scientist gone rogue. During a multi-agency takedown, she runs into none other than the man she walked away from, Luke.

Within 24 hours Keira is blindsided by the man of her past, betrayed by her own people, responsible for a 5-year-old Greek orphan, and left with more questions than answers while fighting to survive and protect the young boy.

Nothing is as it seems when conspiracies start forming and the dark and dirty of the government start trying to shove everything under the rug and eliminating those that pose a threat. Secrets unfold and the web of lies and manipulation grows, bringing the old firefighting team together again to battle out what could be the biggest fight of their lives.

All the while Keira struggles to overcome her childhood trauma and unwavering paranoia in order to finally keep the man she should of never walked away from. Luke finds that the more he learns about Keira’s past and the foundation that built the fiercely independent and driven woman that he fell in love with, the more he understands why she walked away in the first place. They are stronger together and their love is unquestionable, but will it be enough to conquer their kryptonite – their own fears and insecurities.

Action packed adventure, extremely well- written, suspenseful in all the right ways. Slow burn and spice was mild but man oh man was the dirty talk on point when the heat hit. Already looking forward to the next book!

**I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley however my decision to write this review and all its contents are of my own choice and opinion.

This story is full of emotion, action and heat. The cruelty and insanity by Dargan is shocking. Covert government at its worst. What an edge of my seat read it is. Truly an original book.

This is my first Skye Jordan book, and I really enjoyed this one. It’s got a little bit of paranormal since they have abilities, a lot of action, gun fights, shoot outs and explosions, as well as romance. My only drawback was the leading female character. I honestly had a hard time liking her. Yes, she had a screwed up childhood, but the way she constantly mistreated Luke I just didn’t like. She was so hot and cold towards him, and honestly I just started to feel bad for him by the end of the book. They storyline was fantastic and kept me turning the pages though. If you like conspiracy theory, mixed with x-men then you’ll love this!

Good plot, well thought-out characters, very well written! I recommend this, if you like quality, and is in the need for a good book to heat you up, as we venture into summer.
