My opinion;

I didn't know a whole lot about Magicom going in, which I don't normally do. But I was definitely not disappointed.

The magic system was really unique. In order to get magic, you have to drink a sort of potion, arcannen. After which you have access to elemental magic for about a day. I had never read about a magic system like that and really liked it.

Unfortunately, one company controls all the production and distribution, which makes them extremely powerful. Now, I don't want to write too much about the plot, because doing so would already give spoilers. But shit's gonna go down between the evil magic company and our main characters!

Speaking of, this book is filled with lots of great characters. Pink was my absolute favorite. She is sooo strong and sassy and I'm here for it! But Roeden was also super cute. He's still quite young but would do anything to help his brother. It was very interesting to see the world and story through his eyes. I felt like all characters acted their age and I loved seeing that. Pink and her friends are only teens and they did not feel like they were written like adults as all (which I sometimes feel is happening in ya books). They were not battle-hardened or completely responsible and that only made them more real.

In the beginning of the book I couldn't quite get a grip on the direction this story was going in, but it was captivating enough that I just wanted to keep reading to find out!

I would definitely recommend this book if you like Young adult fantasy. It's written really well and filled with tension and powerful monsters. I also believe this story would be nice if you're only just dipping your toe in fantasy because the worldbuilding is not very difficult to understand.

Special thanks to @netgalley and Adam Joseph for giving me the opportunity to review this book! All opinions are my own.
