I confess that I am addicted to this series and the characters who people it.
Sgt. Windflower is an exceptional man who did love his work in the RCMP but was torn because of the effect on his young family. Enter the reality of the severe budget cuts to law enforcement everywhere in the world. In this case it caused the shut down of the local detachment unless the building was urgently needed and the former staff were reassigned. Except for Windflower. He gave up law enforcement to be better father and husband and to run the inn that he and his wife operate. Then a guest dies at the inn and it proves to be weird when the autopsy is done, so the RCMP asks him to become a consultant even while there are major complications in the case. They also want him to be at the forefront of the new positive changes to local policing.
The story is as well written as each of the previous ones and the characters are as real as my own neighbors. The investigation is unusual and has some fascinating twists as well.

Several things I liked about this book. I like the descriptions of scenery, the fact that family is important, and the easy pace of the story. Change has come to the roles the police and detectives play as cost cutting take effect. So missing diamonds and big time criminal leaves undefined roles in question of who cares to pursue the case.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. Well done.

Although, Windflower has retired from the RCMP (and is no longer technically a Sergeant), he is back in the middle of excitement and danger. This is another great book from Mike Martin.

This is another finely spun Windflower mystery that contrasts suspense and tension with the joys of friendship, family, and gratitude.

I really enjoyed this story. This was my first book by Mike Martin and not my last. I need to get caught up on the other books in the series. Will recommend to others.

With the closure of the RCMP Grand Bank detachment, Winston Windflower is taking on a new job as Community Safety Officer. But trouble does not stop even though Windflower is no longer a RCMP officer. A man's body is found in the B&B Winston co-owns. A surprising cause of death is found by Dr. Sanjay: diamonds in the man's body tore open his digestive system. While Dr. Sanjay keeps the diamonds safe in his clinic, he is kidnapped by 2 men who want the jewels. Acting Inspector Eddie Tizzard enlists Windflower's help in trying to save Sanjay from the ruthless diamond smuggler.

This was an exciting story filled with plenty of action and danger for Windflower. The scenes highlighting Windflower and Tizzard's family life provide a nice contrast and continues to fully flesh out these delightful characters.

This is an excellent mystery series and I hope a lot of people will read it because it's compelling and well plotted.
Sgt Windflower is an interesting character, clever and strong.
I fell in love with the descriptions of Newfoundland and it's on my bucket list of places to visit.
This is another well plotted mystery, on the cozy mystery side. The pace is even, the plot is tightly knitted and it kept me guessing.
A highly recommended series.

This is the first book in this series that I have read. I must say that I really enjoyed it. Winston Windflower is no longer with the RCMP but when a body is found at the bed and breakfast that he co owns he finds himself drawn into the investigation.

Having resigned from the RMCP, Sgt. Winston Windflower is looking forward to starting a new job. When a man is found dead at the B&B, what follows is an action-packed storyline. When a family friend is kidnapped Winston is called back to help out, and ends up in trouble himself. I love seeing the growth of the girls, the loving relationship between Winston and Shiela, and the great friendships between the characters in the book. I would certainly recommend this book to others.
