As with any Cassandra Clare books, the world building is rich and the tension between characters stretched. Sword Catcher seems to be laying the groundwork for a larger tale, since there are so many characters with their own plots and a complex history between nations and their people that I'm still trying to understand. Interspaced are little nuggets of history that hint at a larger game at play than what we initially see and I can't wait to see where it leads.
Special thanks to Pan MacMillan and Netgalley for the early sampler to review. Cant wait to read the full book when it releases!

So excited for this book and receiving and reading the NetGalley ARC Sampler was amazing!
A definite shift in writing style for Cassandra Clare but not in a bad way just that it’s like it’s evolved and grown alongside her original Shadowhunters readers.
With only a sampler, albeit a long one I can’t fully say if the book will remain 5 stars but what I’ve read….. I’m hooked and I cannot wait for its release!

Thank you for the sampler! I was lucky enough to receive a proof of this book in full, and absolutely devoured it - as in, the whole thing, all 800 pages, all too easily, in less than a week. Cassandra Clare's first adult fantasy novel is perfect for those - like me - who grew up on her iconic Shadowhunter series, and features all of her trademarks: flawed, lovable characters, complicated bonds, excellent banter, and steamy romance. But this is certainly a step up - the world building is expansive and lush, the magic enigmatic and intriguing. A lot of the novel is dedicated to setting the stage: introducing us to the large cast of characters and establishing their relationships, clarifying the system of magic 'gematry' used, and weaving a web of courtly politics. I'm intrigued to see where Clare takes the characters next - this is a world I'm already desperate to return to.

First of all I would just like to thank, NetGalley, Cassandra Clare and Pan Macmillan for a sample of “Sword Catcher” in exchange for an honest review.
I was lucky enough to receive the first half or so of Cassandra Clare’s first adult fantasy novel, that comes out in October this year.
I don’t even know where to begin, I absolutely adored this book. It has everything you want out of a fantasy novel and more. This book is so different to Cassandra’s other novels but in the best way possible. The writing flows effortlessly and I found myself enthralled with the vivid descriptions of various beautiful locations, clothing, buildings and even food! I truly felt like I was there.
This book is told though alternating perspectives from two exceptionally lovable characters. I adored both Kel and Lin in their own separate ways.
As well as crafting and executing the perfect fantasy plot, this book surreptitiously deals with a magnitude of political injustices; such as classism, race and gender equality. These themes are handled delicately and are expertly woven into the narrative of the book.
I honestly can’t wait for this book to come out so I can continue on my journey with Kel, Lin and Conor. I loved every second of this book, it’s definitely one of my new favourite fantasy reads.

Thanks NetGalley and Pan macmillan for the sampler of Cassandra Clare - Sword catcher.
I’ve read everything by this author and loved every book. This sampler has a definite new feel to Cassandra Clares writing, and yes I loved it. I will be ordering this book. The character development and vivid description of the world is everything you’d expect from a Cassandra Clare story. 5/5

After finishing this sample. Straight online to order Sword Catcher. Can't wait to read full novel now.

Quite a long sampler for me. Good story, different to the Mortal Instruments- more grown up in the feel of the book

So far so good! I'm loving the characters so far and am very intrigued to see where the story goes next

I loved this! Even though it’s only a little sample, I NEED the rest of the book!! I’m a massive fan of Cassandra Clare so the woman can do no wrong. This is her first adult book, not too much different to her previous works. October can’t come quite enough!!

A brilliant teaser for Clares newest novel, complete with vivid and rich descriptions to create a detailed world, complex and charming introductions to the newest characters and an immediate sense that something magically epic is about to happen. I look forward to reading more.

I am a huge long time fan of Cassandra Clare and she is one of my few ‘auto buy’ and auto read others. Everything she produces is just gold, and from this tantalising taste of the Sword Catcher Sampler, this one is also absolute pure gold material.
We all know the Shadowhunter chronicles so we know Cassandra Clare can not only weave a great story, but a great world too. This one also has the frankly amazing world building and story telling along with the lovable characters you can’t help but throw your heart to. I think I’m in it for the long haul with this book and what promises to be an outstanding series.
I can see a new addiction forming with this one and I honestly can’t wait to read the rest of this, as well as own all of the audiobooks, ebooks, physical books, standard and collectors editions I will also no doubt buy because it’s a book worthy of every format!!
