All thoughts and opinions are mine
I love this author and was so happy to be able to read this
Couldn't put this down
Loved it

This book is the latest in the Author's stand alone contemporary , paranormal thrillers , a total different genre to her usual paranormal/ fantasy series .
Vienna Mortenson leads a Search and Rescue team but has a secret side-line - she is a successful online gambler , using her winnings to support her community .
When she is offered a seat at a high stakes gambling venue she has to turn up in person , is there an ulterior motive to the invitation ?
Matters are further complicated when she sees an ex lover working undercover , a man she feels more for than she should - he could break her heart all over again .
Vienna navigates the various rounds , winning her way to the final game but throughout incidents have occurred - her life is in danger for she has a "gift" that someone wants to exploit .
She needs Zane's help-her survival is at stake ,
This is a brilliant fast paced, character driven paranormal thriller which draws the reader in from the first to last page
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Red on the River is an intriguing romantic suspense; it took me a bit to really get into it as I found the details of the poker tournaments a bit overly detailed, but I got more involved as the story went on and the outdoor adventure scenes were much more exciting. The romance between Zale and Vienna was conflicted and sweet - this book is not steamy like Ms. Feehan's other series' and I have to admit I was disappointed that the romance/love scenes were pretty tame, and the paranormal component in this bookwas pretty mild as well. All in all, though not what I expected, it was a good read, which I think would have been enhanced had I read the first in the series, Murder At Sunrise Lake first.

Thoroughly great read .I love that it centers around a group of independent women that are supportive to each others and each have distinctly different characters.
This book follows on from the previous book Murder at Sunrise Lake it is not necessary to read but you get a better feel for the 'characters with some of the back story filled in.
Vienna is a great poker player who's invited to play at The Northern Lights hotel and Casino. The winning is great but she doesn't keep it all, she supports a lot of good works. To her this is a challenge to see how good she really is. How was she to know Zale Vizzini would be working as a bodyguard there. They had unresolved history, perhaps now would be a good time to resolve the issue once and for all
There is some great twist and turns in this novel. Totally a great read, well written and so insightful, the descriptions are great, as if i could see it all.

Vienna Mortenson has been invited to a high-risk poker game. She finds it's her life that is at risk more than her money. Old flame Zale Vizzini turns out to be part of Casino security. Coincidence! After her life is threatened all Vienna wants to do is get back to nature with her 5 best friends and get away from it all in the mountains of Nevada.
This is a story of 5 strong women who have banded together after trauma in their previous life’s. They have had to learn to support themselves and learnt new skills to cope with what life now throws at them. Vienna would love to lean on Zale for support, but can she trust him. Plenty of hot romance mixed with frantic fear keeps the story rolling along at a fast pace. The supporting cast are such strong characters hopefully they will turn up in future stories.
Thank you NetGalley and (Little Brown Book Group UK) for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

For some reason unknown to me, the only series I like from Feehan is the Carpathian series. I have read sometimes even more than one book in other series and never continued them, for one reason or another. This then was already the second installment in a series that for me may as well end here. The characters are always beautiful women or at least particularly beautiful and intelligent or endowed with some super power and the men the alpha males members of some special paramilitary group. It is more than enough sincerely, especially since this book exceeded 300 pages and was full of unnecessary repetition and to lengthen the story the doubts of the female protagonist were always the same and still remain very valid since the answer of the male character was always: "we will overcome everything because I love you!" ..... I would say that is enough for this review.
