As with all Lizzie’s books they are unputdownable. They are well written , true to the period they’re written in and the characters bring the story alive. I actually felt like I was part of it.
Interesting and engaging I read it in one sitting. Thank you
Lizzie Lane is my favourite family saga author. I really enjoyed this book. Her writing makes you feel like you are a part of the story. And the Main characters are so interesting. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion
A family saga about life on the boats before road and rail came into full use. Life was hard but this has been made into an entertaining novel by Lizzie Lane.. She gives us great books and she works hard to get the facts correct. 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Another great book by Lizzie Lane and one I quite enjoyed. A family saga set in 1925, strong women who make a life for themselves, struggles and a bit of romance.
Loved the characters and the storyline, flowed well making it easy to read but it wasn't wishy washy, it had substance. It is a book you can read quite quickly as it is very interesting and enjoyable.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Another great book by Lizzie, her characters are fantastic, this was a great story. I'd like a sequel.
I really liked this book.
It was a hard story to read as with a lot of lizzies books it wasn't all roses and cream.
The story was about hard work and harder people who did anything to survive.
I liked how it ended as Beth didn't fall in to Anthony's arm and live happily ever after.
They made the women tough back then they had to be as they had to do everything.
Trouble for the boat girl, another great read from Lizzie Lane, telling the story of Beth and the struggles of life on the boats when Road and rail are threatening their livelihoods. Beth is strong willed and knows what she wants which doesn’t go down well with the men around her. A wonderful new saga that I couldn’t put down.
Love Lizzie Lane books she is one of my favourite family saga authors.
Great book and couldn’t put it down. Beth Dawson is an interesting character, and when she she’s something she doesn’t like, she takes off, but sadly this is a decision she will soon regret.
Great book
Beth Dawson has been on the canals all her young life under the control of “Daddy Dawson” until one evening after watching him assert his authority on her mother she decides to take off. This could cost her dearly when she runs into the wicked Harry Allen who again tries to control her using the fact that he can put her father out of work as leverage. Beth is promised to boatman Elliot Beavan
Then along comes Anthony Wesley who is a union man fighting for the rights of the boatmen. He was attacked by some of the henchmen employed by the owner of Gatehouse Carrying company when Beth had stumbled across him. Abigail Gatehouse is a strange one, she dresses as a man, is this to throw people off other secrets, is it to fit in with the boatmen/strikers or so she can be close to Anthony.
I liked the way her story slowly unravelled.
Things get heated when the strikers and police clash, who gets hurt.
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
