I loved this wonderful cosy read, such lovely escapism and with a beautiful slow burn romance. I am completely biased because I love a book by Helen Rolfe, she hasn’t written a book that I’ve read that I haven’t enjoyed. I am delighted when I get to read a new book in one of her gorgeous communities and towns/villages.
Speaking of these, Little Woodville is exactly the kind of place I want to live whenever I read Helen’s wonderful descriptions, the great characters make you feel like your returning to visit family or friends (and you want to join them) Morgan and Nate are a great set of starring characters, relatable, going through difficult times, it’s so beautiful to watch the support and comfort provided by friends and Little Woodville.
A slow burn romance is my favourite anf this one is just so well done, Morgan and Nate have so much they need to move beyond and to heal, it’s just emotional watching their developing relationship and healing (both individually and jointly) The whole story is just such an E motional read , tears a plenty but both sadness and joy , from loss, grief, to growth and new opportunities.
This is a beautiful story full of friendship, that wonderful community (can’t mention them enough read and you will understand) so much love and family. If you’re looking for a summer read, some escapism, something to make you feel, or just a really good book, I definitely recommend Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What a gorgeous, contemporary romance this proved to be,
With great characters, grief and a brilliant community.
A lovely read to escape into wherever you can
I highly recommend you include it in your tbr plan!
Returning to look after her Mum, putting her plans on hold,
Whilst her fiancé moves to Scotland, she's not so bold.
Her mother's death leaves her in a quandary
She's not sure of her future anymore, you see.
Nate Greene has also returned to Little Woodville once more
The care of his father and future he wants to explore.
He's also revisiting what he'd left behind
Unsure of just what it is that he'll still find.
These two are struggling with loss and grief
With battles to fight to find their relief.
Changing plans for the future, taking new chances
Will this be the opportunity for new romances?
A heartwarming read with a fantastic community, too,
I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending to you!
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.
Morgan’s mother has passed away and she must clear her mother’s house, but while she intends to follow her partner to Scotland she is still grieving and plans will soon change.
Nate is back to visit his father but is having struggles of his own.
These two characters will come together and may just be the support that one another needs.
This was a lovely book, with both characters exploring their past and personal issues. I loved the description of the locations which added to this narrative. I adore this author and their writing style pulling the reader in and getting lost in a wonderful read.
I really was drawn to the cover of the book, it's so beautiful. I am thinking I would love to go there for a little r and r. I just love Helen Rolfe' books. They are the perfect escapist reads and I try not to miss any of them. A little cottage in the beautiful setting of the Cotswolds sounds so ideal. Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage is part of the charming, Little Woodville Cottage Series of which it is the second book. Christmas at Snowdrop Cottage is the first book. It came out last year in July. In Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage, you will be welcomed back to Little Woodville with open arms. Visit old friends and make new in this new summer escapist read. The heart of the book is family and how important it is. The book is so lovingly written, the characters friends you could easily and comfortably laugh with over a cup of tea. I'll be on the lookout for more books in this series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
I had no idea this was part of a series, my apologies Helen. I've literally just downloaded the first book to catch up 🤦♀️
Who doesn't love a book that's set in the beautiful surroundings of The Cotswolds? I would give anything to have a little cottage there.
Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage is a gorgeous, feel good read with family at its heart and the focus on what's more important in life, which is definitely something I could relate to with both of my own parents becoming older.
The characters are wonderfully written, lovable and fast feel like old friends rather than just names on pages. And Branston, he was adorable wasn't he? He's a dog btw.
Delightful and an absolute joy to read.
Helen Rolfe is one of my absolutely, must-read authors; every book is a joy to read. I loved the first book in this series so getting the chance to read and review Summer at Forget Me Not cottage, well I obviously jumped for joy!
Locations can really make me fall in love with a book/series and this idyllic setting (and its locals) just make me want to bag my bags. Helen describes the homes and surroundings so beautifully; you really do feel like you are right there.
Morgan moves back home to support her ailing Mother, leaving her partner to move to Scotland without her - for now. She fully intends on joining him as soon as possible, but months after her Mum’s death she is still there and doesn’t seem to be making any plans on joining Ronan. Morgans sister joins her, to sort through the cottage and suggests Morgan may actually like to stay there for a while longer, live there and figure out what it is that she wants to do.
Nate is back to visit his Dad, Trevor. Having lived in Wales for some time he is concerned that his Dad is struggling and would like to convince him to move to Wales too. Nate struggles being back, he feels guilty and is still coping with the loss of his Mother.
Thrown together at the local market by having to share a stall, Nate and Morgan are both working through struggles, both hurting and not quite sure of what to do for the best.
The prefect cosy read and a wonderful escape, a story about letting go; of hurt, of the past and allowing yourself to be happy again. Finding new beginnings in old haunts.
A great summer read, I can never recommend Helens books enough!
This book is the second book in the little Woodville series. It can be read as a standalone novel..
This is such a lovely cosy and heartwarming read. I really enjoyed reading it and I hope that there will be more books in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.
I enjoyed this book and even though there was an underlying tale or two of heartache running through, the hope and blossoming of new relationships and forging of new friendships is at the heart of this story.
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Summer At Forget-Me-Not Cottage' by Helen Rolfe.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Helen Rolfe, Boldwood, Book & Tonic and Rachel's Random Book Tours .
Publication date 26th June 2023.
This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the second book in 'Little Woodville Cottage Series'.
This novel consists of 20 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
What an absolutely beautiful, heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely love, love, loved it!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!
If you are looking for a stunning romance then this is the book for you!! Helen's evocative writing skills sucks the reader deep into the pages bringing the absolutely beautiful Little Woodville and the Cotswolds to life along with all the amazing characters. Although this is the second book in the series I had would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the others. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.
While reading this book you will be swept away and left feeling the fresh air, hearing the chatter at the market and smelling the home cooked meals. It is a stunning escapism read and it genuinely felt like I was dropped into the middle of this beautiful village that I absolutely loved exploring with some of my favourite places being the market and the Bookshop Café (of course!!). I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end and had to pack my mental suitcase to return to rainy Wales. I cannot wait to delve into the first book in this series which is called 'Christmas At Snowdrop Village' and I hope that this book is only the second of many more to come in this absolutely gorgeous series!!! It is ram packed with emotions from tears of sadness to tears of happiness, friendship, love, community, new beginnings, family and everything you could ask for in a beautiful page turner!!! This book is an absolutely stunning read that is perfect to lift your spirits!! I felt like I was next to Nate and Morgan throughout the book from their first meeting to the absolutely beautiful ending.
The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely in them all and I already miss them even though I have just closed the pages. An absolutely amazing gang of characters who will stay with me for a long time and I really hope I get to meet again soon. I devoured this book in a few hours as it is one of those that I just could not put down. there were so many times that I told myself that I would just finish the one chapter and then go back to it but that chapter ended in a way that I could not put it down and then the next one did and then the next and so on until I came to very last page. I would absolutely love to see this beauty turned into a movie and I will be at the front of the queue to go and see it!! Helen's writing skills will absolutely absorb you into the book and no matter where you are in the world you will be sucked into Little Woodville in the blink of an eye.
What are you waiting for?!? Pick up one of my favourite, stunning, feel good page turners and get ready to get sucked in to the stunning Little Woodville!!!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Helen on a HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future amazing books. Welcome to my FAVOURITE authors and I cannot wait for your next page turner. Here's to your next success 🥂!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Helen's ''Christmas At The Little Knitting Box' which promises to be just as gorgeous as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!!
Overall an unputdownable, unforgettable, stunning romance that will put you in the festive spirit and have you staying up late at night to finish it.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Sophie Kinsella, Bridget Jones, 'The Holiday', Debbie Macomber, Emily Henry, Beth O’Leary and anyone looking for a absolutely stunning festive and heart-warming read!
281 pages.
This book is just £2.84 to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £9.32 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

A great read. What a lovely warmhearted story full of charm and beauty, when Morgan returns to Forget me Not cottage to look after her mother she postpones moving to Scotland to be with her fiance and start a new job it's not long before she falls in love with village life. She is also surprised when she finds herself attracted to Nate who has also moved back to to the village to visit his dad, I loved the of the charming descriptions of the cottages and the location was idyllic and it was a pleasure to read
I love Helen’s books. This one returns to the Village of Christmas at Snowdrop Cottage. It was good to catch up with the news of some of the residents. There are a few twists to this story. It covers family, friendship, loss and romance. I like how the characters intertwine and the way local communities watch out for each other. I fully recommend this you won’t be disappointed.
This was such a relaxing and enjoyable read. Both Morgan and Nate have a lot in common, especially their strong sense of family ties. Both trying to come to terms with their feelings about the deaths of their mother, they also feel a pull towards their childhood homes and to the way of life they were brought up in. They also have a sense of guilt around their parts in different stages of their mothers' lives. Morgan and Nate have a lot in common and form a connection from the moment they meet.
The setting of Little Woodville is perfect for the story. A pretty rural village, it provides the ideal backdrop, with a range of varied characters who all share friendship and concern for each other, especially the older residents. There are some emotional moments for the characters along with the lighter moments. Branston, the dog, is adorable and the slow burn romance is just in step with the story. This is a perfect summer read.
In short: new starts, friends, family,
A lovely, heartwarming, uplifting tale set in a Cotswold village full of emotion and gentle romance begins with Morgan grieving after her mother's death. Morgan returned to her birthplace to help her mother and realised that she had forged a deeper relationship with her but had to postpone her life plans. Now, she can move forward, but is she still the same person, and does she want the life she envisages? Nate only visits his widowed father occasionally due to work pressure, but he is fighting guilt at not being there for his mother. This story has a friends-to-lovers romance at its centre, but it is the friendships and community spirit that make it so readable. I love the vibrant and easy-to-visualise village setting, the emotional exploration of family relationships and the gentle romance.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
A beautiful story of finding comfort in what’s important. I loved seeing how the community rallied around Morgan and Nate and helped them to realise what was needed in their lives. The market setting and meal get together at Sebastian’s were particular highlights.
Memories both sad and happy filled this emotional read as we journeyed through a slow-burn romance between the two of them.
The other characters in the story really made this for me as the impact of their kindness and support was felt throughout and not just by Morgan and Nate.
Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage by Helen Rolfe
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Visit old friends and new in this super, summer escapist read.
Morgan Rosewood finds herself at a crossroads in her life after returning home to Forget-Me-Not Cottage to care for her ailing mother. She and boyfriend Ronan, had plans, big plans, but all these hopes and dreams are put on hold when Morgan's mum suddenly dies.
Morgan’s emotions are in turmoil but she sets about the task of clearing the house and running her late mother’s vintage market stall.
Nate Greene has his own reasons for staying away from Little Woodville. Nate needs to reconcile his past and tackle the long overdue task of decluttering the place he once loved - his abandoned wood workshop, filled to the brim with his creations.
He secures a stall at the local market to showcase his wares and it isn't long before the workshop reignites the passion he once shared with a special person.
My Opinion
This is the second book in the Little Woodville Cottage, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
This was a cute, cosy book and a nice escape from reality. This is another book by Helen Rolfe that I am delighted to have read - I have still yet to find a disappointing book. With some great descriptions I was whisked off to Little Woodville, and even though this was my first visit I felt I was quickly welcomed to the village.
A lovely, heart-warming read. I now feel the need to go back and read the first book in the series so I can spend some more time with these lovely characters.
Rating: 4/5
I really enjoyed the story of Morgan and Nate. Both in a quaint village for different reasons but drawn to each other after a rocky start. The town was easy to picture from the author's description and one I would love to visit if it was real.
The author pulled me into the story and I didn't want it to finish. The story just flowed from page one until the last page...I was sorry to see it end. While I haven't read any of the other Little Woodville Cottage series I had no problem following the story of Morgan and Nate.
There were so many wonderful characters and I couldn't pick a favourite but if I had to choose, I think it would be Nate. He worked through a lot of hard memories and finally put them to rest. The community supper was a surprise and a wonderful addition to the story. That is what brings a small community together....helping others out.
I truly enjoyed the story and I highly recommend!
I have read a few of Helen Rolfe’s books now and enjoyed them all, so I was excited to hear she had a new one out. Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage is het latest release.
At the start of the story, we meet Morgan. She has temporarily moved back to the village of Little Woodville to look after her ill mother Elaina. But she is still there in the Cotswolds seven months later, her mother has now passed away, and her fiancé Ronan is living up in Edinburgh. Things are not going to plan. When Morgan’s older sister Tegan comes to help out, she suggests there is still the option of Morgan staying in the village and living in their late mother’s house, but Morgan has to decide what she wants to do.
Nate is 38 and usually lives in Wales but, accompanied by his dog Branston, he is visiting his father Trevor, who lives in Little Woodville. He fears his dad is struggling on his own and plans to try to tempt him to move to Wales so he is near enough to help on a daily basis.
I liked both Morgan and Nate from the start and you could see they were both dealing with the loss of their mothers. All the characters were great though, I loved Trevor and Gillian too and the lovely dog Branston.
The village is beautifully described and easy to picture. I especially loved the Bookshop Café, with its author events as well as the obvious books and food - that would be the first place I’d visit! I also loved the community dinners, the way everyone looks out for each other and they all intermingle at the pub, the Saturday market and other key places.
The book is a lovely, heart-warming, feel-good read and I really enjoyed it.
Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage is a lighthearted, beautiful summer read and set in the wonderful Cotswolds.
Morgan is still in Little Woodville having put her life on hold (she was supposed to move to Edinburgh with her fiancé, Ronan) to look after her mother who sadly died. Ronan is exasperated that Morgan is still at her mother's and is pressuring her to hurry up and move to be with him. Morgan decides to continue get mothers market stall until the remaining items have been sold.
During one of her many walks around the village, she meets Nate, who's visiting his dad, Trevor. Nate is concerned about his dad living on his own and wants to persuade him to move closer to him in Wales. But first, he has to deal with his wood workshop. He decides to sell his creations at the local market.
Can they deal with the challenges each face......
The setting is beautifully described and the villagers are friends I've yet to meet! A perfect read for a summer evening.
What a perfectly drawn location – it’s something the author always does so very well, with such wonderful descriptions that you can smell the flowers in the beautiful cottage gardens and immediately feel entirely familiar and comfortably part of the setting. And the very real people who live there – perfectly drawn, immediately making you feel part of the community. And then there’s always such a well-told story at the book’s heart…
Morgan’s relationship and plans were put on hold when she needed to care for her mother – and after her death, she now wants to clear the carefully chosen stock that fills Forget-Me-Not Cottage by continuing the market stall they used to run together. And being part of such an embracing community, she’s beginning to wonder whether the future she had all mapped out is what she really wants. And her decision becomes increasingly difficult with the arrival of Nate – who is also still hurting (and feeling an overwhelming sense of guilt) following the death of his own mother after her slow decline with Parkinson’s, concerned about his father who’s now living alone. By chance, they find themselves sharing a market stall, where he sells his woodwork creations – his real passion – alongside her vintage pieces, and their easy friendship begins to build into something rather more.
The slow-burn romance is just so perfectly handled – two damaged people who I really took to my heart, and a developing relationship I entirely believed in. And then there’s the wider community – the people with their own stalls on the market, wrapping Morgan with love as she’s so very aware of her mother’s empty chair, and the wonderful meals hosted by Belle and Sebastian making sure that no-one ever feels alone. The whole book just has the loveliest emotional touch – a few tears at times, the sadness of loss, but a lightness and joy as Morgan and Nate grow closer, and plenty of opportunities to laugh and smile with the lovely community they’re very much a part of.
This really was the loveliest read – filled with warmth, friendship and family, with the relationship at its centre absolutely everything I wanted it to be. If you enjoy the same books that I do, it’s one I’d highly recommend you add to your summer reading list – I loved it.
This book is perfect to read on a slow summer day and be transported to a small village with so many lovely people around. Nate and Morgan were really well written and easy to read about even though their purposes in being at the Little Woodville are quite heartbreaking. It was a really good and sweet read, gave a lot of comforting and warm vibes.
