True to form, Helen has penned another fabulous book. Set amongst family and village life, what more could you want. A real page turner which I found hard to put down.
As is my usual experience with this author, I was immediately transported to Little Woodville and felt the warm hug of village life. Morgan was beautifully imagined, and I could instantly feel that we would be friends in real life. She had put her life on hold to care for her ailing mother, ensuring that she had all her needs met in her final days. Now, in the aftermath of the funeral, her work still isn’t over. Her Mum loved her market stall, and her little cottage is full to the rafters with stock, so Morgan feels obliged to sell it all on the stall.
We then meet Nate who is also mourning the loss of his mother. She had passed away as a result of Parkinson’s, a deeply debilitating disease that he had struggled to deal with. After a particular fright, Nathan had left the village, returning only for the funeral. He’s now back in Little Woodville to persuade his Dad to move away from the village so that he can receive proper care.
Encouraged by his Dad, Nate returns to his purpose-built workshop where he used to love creating wonderful pieces from wood. This is a difficult process as he associates his woodworking with neglecting his Mum. Taking control, he decides to sell some pieces on the local market. Of course, a scheduling error leads to him sharing a large stall with Morgan.
Helen Rolfe has a talent for writing books that transport me to a different place, and I instantly feel at home. Her characters take shape quite effortlessly and are always perfectly developed. Little Woodville was easily imagined, and I am already looking forward to reading the first in this series. One major element to her writing is that romances evolve naturally and there is never a rushed feeling to any connections.
This book left me feeling happy and hopeful, a real treat to read.
Morgan has been in Little Woodville for much longer than she had expected. It’s time to make her new life in Scotland but is having second thoughts. Nate comes to spend some time with his Dad and do something about his workshop.
It’s a lovely story, descriptive with people you would want as friends. It’s perfect reading for a lazy summer day
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Netgalley for the early copy
Helen Rolfe has given us yet another fantastic novel. I loved. loved . loved reading this.. Loveable character and settings. You could see yourself living in the village and mixing with the characters and enjoying life. Well worth 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Morgan returned to Little Woodville where she grew up to look after her sick mother, then after she passes away she has to make a decision on whether to move to Edinburgh to join her fiance or to stay in the village that she has come to love. Similarly Nate moved away after his mother died, but returned as he is worried about how is father is coping on his own.
I must admit that I haven't read the first book in this series, although it is sitting in my TBR list, but reading this book is like eating your favourite food, really comforting and helping you feel at peace. Whether small village life is really as the story paints it or not it certainly sound like a place that I'd love to live with supportive villagers looking after each other. Both Morgan and Nate are struggling with the loss of a parent, which gives them something in common and can understand how each other feel, but will this lead to anything else. Read this enjoyable book to find out....
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influenced my review of the book.
A brilliant summer read that's perfect for transporting you to a beautiful place when summer doesn't go the way you want it.
A cute light cosy read perfect to finish in one day on holiday or over the course of a few winters evenings.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book in return for a fair and honest review.
Aww, Morgan and Nate were such sweeties!
Morgan came back to Little Woodville to take care of her very ill mother, who then passed away. Morgan had had a difficult relationship with her mother, so they made memories whilst Morgan was looking after her. She is enjoying living in Little Woodville despite the tough circumstances which caused her to come back, but she has a fiance waiting for her in Edinburgh.... She also has boxes and boxes of things that her mother used to sell at the local markets.
Nate came back to Little Woodville to spend more time with his dad. He also has a garage full of wooden products which he has made.
Both Morgan and Nate become stallholders at the markets and as their friendship gets stronger, their respective pasts come into play. And then there is the little fact that Morgan has a fiance whose patience is starting to run out.
Lovely story, not sugary sweet, which I always appreciate.
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Morgan has come to be with her mother who’s not well, in Little Woodville in the cottage called Forget-Me-Not, it’s now been seven months.
Her fiancé Ronan moved to Scotland as was their plan, and waits for her to come up to be with him.
After her Mother passes away, she along with her sister Tegan prepare to sort out their Mothers house ready for sale.
Nate is also in Little Woodville, he lives and works in Wales, and is planning to spending the weekend with his dad Trevor.
They both meet unexpectedly and during their chat, find out that they were at the same school. They start to get to know one another, during his stay.
I highly recommend this book.
Cute and cozy-this was just what I needed as a refreshing read after some tough days.
Morgan moved back to her mothers cottage in Little Woodville, which is called Forget me Not, because her mother was dying as Morgan didn’t want her to be alone despite their estranged relationship. Now Morgan’s mother has passed away and Morgan and her sister Tegan are tasked with her challenge of going through their mother’s cottage and clearing out all her belongings, including all the stuff she sells at the local weekend market. In the process of this, Morgan starts to wonder if maybe she was meant to just stay at Forget Me Not but there’s just one issue with that-her fiancé Ronan who is waiting for her in Scotland.
Meanwhile, Nate has come to spend the weekend with his father Trevor in the same little village and following a chance encounter, they get to know each other better and realize that there may be more there between them. But there can’t be anything as long as she still has a fiancé waiting for her. Morgan has some hard decisions to make.
This was a feel good romance with warm characters and beautiful descriptions of the location.
Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.
Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage is a cozy and captivating story. The characters are lovable and it’s easy to feel as though the reader is right at home with them in Little Woodville.
While this is a sequel to Christmas at Snowdrop Cottage, it can be read as a standalone story.
4.5 stars
♦️Morgan had come to her home in Little Woodville village to care for her sick mother. At that time, she was staying in London with her fiance, Ronan, and they had plans to settle down in Scotland. When she came to her mother, Ronan went to Scotland alone, expecting her to join him later. However, now, after her mother's death, she is trying to cope with the grief. While she is busy clearing the cottage, she is also running her mother's stall in the village market.
Nate had abandoned his passion of wood carving when he had left the village after losing someone. Now, many years have passed and still he has not made peace with his loss. This time when he is home, he wants to clear out the space which once used to be his workshop. So, he books a stall in the village market to sell the items.
How will Nate and Morgan help each other in fighting with their respective inner demons? Will the hustle and bustle of city life still attract them after getting used to the taste of a slow village life?
💥This was a cozy read and the lovely plot kept me hooked till the end. The wonderful description of an English village has the capacity of influencing any reader to want to shift there. The author throws light on grief and coping with it. She also asks us to forgive and be kind to ourselves. The story emphasizes on slowing down, enjoying the beauty of nature and the miracle of life.
💥Morgan and Nate are the protagonists of this story and one gets to know the story from both of their perspectives. While Morgan has plans of settling in Scotland, Nate has a well established plumbing business in Wales. Coming back to the village, they have slowly started to enjoy and get soaked in the quietness of a country life. However, they also have their own struggles to overcome and face reality.
💥This story tells its readers that some things are out of our control and we should allow them to "let go". It teaches us to follow our heart's desire as that is the only way we can be happy. It has the ability to make its readers feel warm and snug. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers.
It was great to be back in Woodsville again. Morgan and Nate are a great couple and I could identify with their situation of worrying and looking after elderly parents, having been in a similar one. Seeing the whole community rally together and support each other was brilliant and I could help but chuckle every time Jeremy appeared in his car as I strangely imagined him to be a bit like Toad from Wind in the Willows with his driving goggles on zooming around rooting his horn!
Learning Nate’s back story about his mum and his wood crafting was quite emotional and touching and the sparks were instantly identifiable between him and Morgan and the way they explored their feeling was done really well and with a lot of thought, and thankfully Ronan was mature enough to understand Morgan’s feelings had changed.
Getting the next chapter in Belle and Sebastian was lovely, and I gave a happy contented sigh when I read the last page knowing everyone was happy.
Love, love, love this!!! I lost some family members and remember how it is when you have to go through their things. It sucks. But this story is on point with that. However the romance in it is so worth it!!
I just reviewed Summer at Forget-Me-Not Cottage by Helen Rolfe. #SummeratForgetMeNotCottage #NetGalley

First book I have read if this author, I understand there is a previous book, so after this good read I will be looking for the first one. This was a heart-warming and a fabulous summer read. It took me two days to read, couldn’t put it down, stories are so lifelike and believable. The village sounds amazing, the caring of each other and looking out for each other, just how it use to be, took me back to my childhood and village life.
Love the cover, very fresh and inviting.
Heartwarming story dealing up with the loss of a loved one. Beautifully written with characters old and new. Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a stand-alone. Great community feel. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
This is the second book in the series, as such there is a lot of science setting and introduction of old characters at the very start.
Morgan Reese returns to Little Woodvill, in the cotswolds. Her older sister Tegan comes back to help sort out their late mothers possessions. Now they need to sort out things for the market as Morgan stays behind to sell them.
Nate Green plumbing business back in Wales. He comes bsck to gove his dad Trevor, a hand. Nate has workshop where he made handmade wooden items and was very creative, he wanted him to sell them again at the market.feels he's gone from 'hobbyist to craftsman'.
Nath decides to go and stay for a month.
Sebastian and Belle own a cafe and bookshop, 'does good business'. Even have writer come and give talks
Morgan, Nate and Trevor go to one reading where 25 people gather.
'The market is like a family' as are the people of all ages that come together to have special meals together, which all are main characters partake in. As the story progresses the relationship between Nate and Morgan grow. As do the other characters relationships and we grow to know them all in greater detail, it adds a depth to the story and makes it all more beleavable.
The only only one thing I noticed it was all happy relationships, apart from the death or the two parents it was all so positive. Which is no always reflected in real life.
However it is a good easy read, love story tied up in family ties.
There is scope for a third book in the series
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a complementary digital copy of this ebook in exchange for a full, frank and honest review. All opinions expressed are completely my own
A very moving read at times. Both Nate and Morgan had different issues with their mothers who had died. You so felt for them. The market sounded amazing . Little Woodville was an amazing community and how they all looked each after each other. I loved it. The story made you feel happy and sad. With mature parents it made you think.
Absolutely brilliant summer, feel good read. This is the 2nd visit to Little Woodville but it can be read without reading the first one. Read this in 2 days so highly recommend this book. If you can read the first one as well as it does not disappoint. Helen Rolfe tells a great story and you are actually in the village being part of the story.

MY REVIEW:
This is the story of Morgan, who drops everything to care for her dying mother. after her mother passes, she intends to sell the house and return to her fiancé, but fate has other ideas.
A sweet read with small village vibes, showing the beauty of endings and beginnings.
This light-hearted read can easily be finished in an hour.
