Hey there! Just a friendly heads up - this book starts off with a bang! It's a spicy, steamy romance by a new author I discovered. While the beginning didn't grip me, I was intrigued enough to keep reading about the intriguing characters who live in the Shadows. Around halfway through, the story really took off and I was completely hooked. Maeve, the main character, could be a bit irritating at times, but she held her own. Aristotle's transformation throughout the book was massive and made him more likable. This book is definitely not for those who don't want steam and spice in their romance, but if you're up for it, I recommend it for a slightly different paranormal romance experience. I received a voluntary copy from Netgalley and my thoughts are honest and fair.

I loved this book. It was not at all what I was expecting. Lies, intrigue and surprising love story. Some of the supporting characters are vicious, and everyone has an agenda. The plot was twisted and well developed. A dark fantasy for all.

Maeve is one of the best PR representatives and she has just landed the assignment of a lifetime, she has to repair the reputation of Symmachia, a council of seven who oversees the Shadows. Determined to successfully complete her assignment she arrives at the headquarters only to be paired with the King of Shadows and if she isn't careful she might be breaking one of her own sacred rules.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy of realm of the shadows. This really was not for me, the writing style was rough to get through and broke immersion

I was looking for a story and ended up with sexy, steamy story of romance with character development thrown in for fun. Finished the story but wasn't impressed with what I read.
Thank you Netgalley

There's interesting ideas and potential but some editing would help and avoid some sentences that were funny even if it wasn't the intention of the author.
Not my cup of tea
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I was pleasantly surprised by this book and really enjoyed it. It was a quick and easy read, had descriptive character building, and a good enemies to lovers storyline. I recommend this book for someone looking for an easy read with good banter and tension between the love interests.

2.5 stars rounded up because I mean I finished the thing so I didn't totally hate it.

This book started out relatively interesting and kind of devolved over time.

This is mostly going to be me bitching btw.

Firstly, can we please never ever give books playlists? It's horridly cringey.

Maeve has red hair, and we all know that the book gods demand a fiery personality to go along with it, though it's been fucking done to death.

This author has also chosen to do some cringey shit with her character accents:
"Ju have a place picked out, si?"

This book needs an editor fucking desperately, more than it needs a cover artist who isn't the author, which should speak volumes.

Farther/further
Loathe/loath
etc.

This is an ARC, however, so keep that in mind. I'm going to be quoting some shit, and it might change. It doesn't say anywhere that this copy is an ARC and subject to change, but better cover the bases.

"The woman had the body of a nineteen-fifties flapper"
Mmhmm.. was she 30 years behind in the trends?

"She winced while washing her sex with a loofah."
My junk is cringing right now.

"She squeezed the loofah, then gently washed his nut sac"
Okay, I don't care how gentle you're being, it's a fucking loofah. She also wrapped it around his wang apparently, which.. is that physically possible with a loofah? Is the stiff as shit flesh renderer just my loofah experience? Maybe she's doing the tissue/kleenex thing and just calls any bath pouf a loofah.

"To say the last few months hadn't been a whirlwind, even by his standards, would have been an understatement."

Can we stop giggling? Can we chuckle once in a fucking while? It's difficult to imagine Aristotle with a single finger to his mouth twisting a bit of hair around his finger, tee hee!

How is it that Maeve acquires magic and then with absolutely 0 instruction, reading, etc. is able to perform what seem like pretty serious spells? Did I miss something? I might have missed something.

They aren't fated mates, but like MGK and what's her transformer face, the hot chick who can't act? Anyhoodle, I can't read twin flame and not cringe.

Parts of the story were interesting enough, but the lack of editing really sucked me out of the story, and toward the end the romance just made me gag. The bad guy was really, really fucking obvious, and it ended on a cliffhanger, but honestly that wasn't that big of a deal because I felt things had wrapped up well enough in terms of the story, and this was more an introduction to the next one.

Of course our couple is separated because how else are we going to beat this dead horse to death? I've come to realize that once book couples get together, they need to shut up and fuck off. You have served your purpose. I'm glad you're together, congrats, and now you have instantly lost your interest. Please no amnesia. Please no grand misunderstandings. Please no kidnapping or magical separations. Just end it. Don't dip the proverbial chip and then dip it again. If you need to stretch this shit out to cover a series, have your side characters get together, have your MCs only fuck but still hate each other, whatever, but once they are in lurve, END IT.

Loved reading the engaging, mesmerizing, and spellbinding paranormal romance story. When Maeve is hired as a PR, she meets the handsome, captivating vampire Aristotle, King of the Shadows. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting must read romance story. Can't wait to read the next story in the series!

Realm of the Shadow King
Thanks to NetGalley for the free ARC. This review is entirely my honest opinion of the book.
Rating: 4.5 stars
I decided to try reading this book on a whim, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. The beginning was…a bit intense, but it definitely held my attention. I found myself more interested in the book as it went on. Maeve was an awesome, fierce MC, and Aristotle was broody but charming in his own way. Maeve and Aristotle were so fun to read about, and I absolutely loved them together. It was nice to see them develop and they both had compelling backstories.
I was really interested in the world and the magic, and I do wish it was explained more because some parts did were a little underdeveloped. I don’t want to spoil anything, but some of Maeve’s background felt a bit rushed. I would definitely love to read future books in this series!

The description of this book really caught my attention.

It started off with a bang - I knew it was going to be a romance, but I wasn't expected that start! The overall premise intrigued me and I think I enjoyed the story though there were a few things that would pull me out of the story and have me questioning how I did feel about it.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but it didn't stick out my mind as being amazing.

Thank you to #NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Not quite sure how I feel about this one. I liked the characters, for the most part. The world-building was good, though calling a vampire's bite "the sink" was a little weird. I think my main problem with this was the pacing. The story seemed to move so slowly, yet there was enough to hold my attention and keep me going. Not sure if I would read more by this author.

First book is...

Realm Of The Shadows - The King.

By A.J. Wildman

I honestly loved this book. If you like fantasy, this could be up your alley. It has vampires, gnomes, witches, shifters, etc.

At first I didn't think I would love it but something about the banter between Maeve and Aristotle really brought me in and intrigued me.

The story itself has enough edge to it to keep you entertained. There is a major cliffhanger So be prepared if you are not willing to wait until winter for the next book.

If you like a SMUTTY book this is for you. It's a pretty medium burn. There's an attraction from the beginning and it's acknowledged. But the female lead keeps pushing away because she knows if she gives in everything will change. I can appreciate the acknowledgment of the attraction from the get-go. However, I do wish there was a little bit more cat and mouse/hard to get, kind of thing going on. But overall it worked.

A.J. did a great job at telling all the back details later in the book that you question throughout the beginning.

Overall I would rate this a 4 out of 5 because I would have loved just a little but more emotion. Meaning I want to cry when it deems, I want to shout when Good things happen. I think to achieve that, just a little more time spent on a couple scenes would have helped!. But this is definitely a book I could reread!

So I was intrigued by the premise and intrigued enough by the beginning of the book to keep going.
About mid way, it took off and I couldn't put it down!

this was a very spicy, romantasy ( romance and fantasy) that was a great start to what looks like a series.
I do admit that at times I thought: this is going so easily. I was a little...annoyed that how quickly Maeve caught on to all her gifts you might say, but other than that it was a great story that ended on a cliff hanger!

Thanks to NetGalley for the Arc. All opinions are my own.

Read the authors comment about the book content. But there is a fantasy good story too!!! A fun read, this is a sexy adult will they, will they, romance story!!! But (not completely over the top) with vampires and witches and a story about losing your soul, but finding your soul (mate) as well. Most people deserve to be saved! Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

Wow! What a thrill ride! Never expected the plot to take me where it did. I felt happy, scared and mad. It was like going through all the emotions on this roller coaster. Yes, this was a quick read, only because the plot keeps you moving from action to action.

Warning starts with a bang literally ! This is a very spicy, torrid romance by a new to me author. I will be frank and say although I wasn’t gripped by the beginning I was sufficiently intrigued to keep reading about those who live in the Shadows and I guess resemble what have previously been called Vampires but honestly there’s a lot more to this world that the author has dreamed up. About half way in the story really took off and definitely caught and held my interest. Maeve was perhaps a bit irritating at times but she certainly held her own. The change in Aristotle as the book progressed was huge and made him a much more appealing character. Definitely not for those who don’t want steam and spice in their romance because this has it aplenty. I did catch a few typos and occasionally the flow just hiccuped a bit but it didn’t mar my overall enjoyment so definitely a book I recommend if you want a slightly different paranormal romance.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
