Lilah and Shane are the stars of a big tv show and as well as being a couple on screen the pair get together behind the scenes too. After a bad breakup leads to Lilah leaving the show they don’t see eachother for years until she returns for the final season.
This was a great second chance romance I really enjoyed Lilah and Shane’s story, it was such a slow burn it really paid off because my heart was hurting in parts. There’s so much tension and the build up is just chefs kiss.
The only reason I didn’t rate it higher is because I was disappointed with the ending, but apart from that it’s definitely a good book.
I quite enjoyed the characters, but the story moved too slowly, and was hard to get into.
Thank you for the review copy.
Thank you for the opportunity to review this new novel.
I love the trope enemies-to-lovers but sometimes it's not a hit, more of a miss. In this case the author took it a step to far with their animosity towards each other and it was hard to believe that they would be able turned it around and actually loved each other. Also, Lila grated on my nerves with her attitude and the non-existent self awareness.
I'm sorry to say that this was just a meh for me.
4.25 stars - Ava Wilder does not disappoint with her second book, I really enjoyed this. It’s a slow burn, lovers to enemies to lovers, celebrity second chance with forced proximity, and it felt like the perfect companion to ‘How To Fake It In Hollywood’.
There is so much raw emotion in these pages, Lilah and Shane are heartbreakingly real and Ava’s writing keeps you so deeply captivated. The enemies/hate starting point is so well written, you can truly feel the animosity and pain between them and the shift then is also so natural; the words just flow brilliantly.
I thought the portrayal of Hollywood and all its’ pitfalls was once again really good, it is so easy to understand Lilah and Shane’s reservations, fears and anxieties, and why that seeps into their relationship too. There wasn’t one side of this that I was firmly on, I could completely understand where they were both coming from and Lilah’s anxiety was so well written. I love that she and this book were so open about her mental health, therapy and validating her feelings. Once Shane saw what was really happening, he was so supportive and such a rock for Lilah.
The tension is so good, I love a slow burn where the feelings gradually change and passion builds up again - this delivered on all fronts. They are so charismatic together and their chemistry is off the charts; the photoshoot scene omg! But they are also so raw and sweet together too; in the quiet moments their inherent chemistry comes through so naturally. It’s easy to understand why they fell so quickly for each other, even if it took a long journey to get back together. Second chance has never been my favourite but this one was so good and I was rooting for Lilah & Shane the whole time!
Thank you NetGalley, Random House and Ava Wilder for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I liked Will They or Won’t They, my first book by Ava Wilder, but unfortunately I didn’t love it. I had a hard time warming to the two main characters, Lilah and Shane, which somewhat hampered my enjoyment of their story.
I did, however, love the setting of a TV show: I’m a massive TV show fan and addict, and the fictional one created here was fascinating to read about. Anyone who enjoys TV will get a kick out of all the behind the scenes drama and politics, and this aspect was my favourite part of the whole book.
I did like Lilah and Shane, but I personally didn’t think they had much chemistry. I was never willing them on or hoping everything would work out, which is a shame as some of their interactions and dialogue was very realistic.
Im definitely interested in reading more by Ava Wilder, and I’m sad I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I wanted to. Still, we can’t love every book we read, and here’s hoping I like Wilder’s other work more. I’m sure Will They or Won’t They will be a hit with romance readers, as it certainly ticks all the steamy romcom boxes!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book
This is the first book I have read by the author I actually liked the characters but struggled slightly to get in to the story line
Such a unique book, I loved the plot, and oh my god the characters were so amazing!! I definitely will be recommending it!!
The tension in this book urghhhh. I loved how they both teased each other and it was just a fun co star romance to read in the summer.
ARC Rating 4/5 ⭐️
I really really enjoyed this book and the character's growth and development throughout.
Lilah and Shane are co-stars on a show hit paranormal tv series where the characters are in love, but in reality they hate each other. It's an angsty, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers, second chance romance that had a really good storyline.
The story was so angsty, and it has real-life issues and feeling, and their journey was really enjoyable. The banter was also great, I found myself laughing along.
With it being a second chance slow burn, I ATE UP any slight affection they gave each other 😅 Not me gasping when they hold hands at 60%...
I really liked Shane, he was funny and really likeable. I liked Lilah slightly less, hence the dropped star. She just was in her head a bit too much and just invalidated Shane's feelings because she felt she knew better.
"He slid his hand possessively to the base of her throat and walked her back against the door."
Overall, it was a really nice read.
Thank you, NetGalley, Headline, and Ava Wilder for sending this book for review. All opinions are my own.
This book made me go through like every emotion ever, for the first 40% of this book I was kind of a hater of Lilah lol. I just felt like she was tooooo mean to Shane for my liking, but I did kind of fall in love with their romance.
Overall I really enjoyed this romance, I liked the development of the romance and it didn't feel too insta-love for me. I think this is a really solid and effective romance, and I would recommend it to anyone.
This is a romance between two cast members on a TV show, Lilah and Shane have played each others love interests for years, they have hated each other 90% of that time. They are reunited when Lilah comes back to do the last season of their show, and finally bring their characters together. They end up fighting (literally and their feelings) and realise that they maybe dont hate each other?
I do have to say that the ending was such an unnecessary jumpscare LIKE WHY, there was no need for the ending at AWLLLL
I don't know what it was missing but I just needed more angst and tension. The book was also written in third person which I find difficult to connect with but that's my opinion. I did however love the relationship between Shane and Lilah and their journey from loves to enemies and back again
This is my honest review of Will They or Won't They by Ava Wilder.
I received an Arc of this book which is published today. 27th June 2023😊
Simply put I loved it. So much so, that I stayed up until the am reading it until I physically couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Wilder has done a fantastic job with her characters, showing all their good point and flaws making them seem down to earth and incredibly likeable. This is a friends/lovers to enemies to lovers book and I am so here for it. The tension between Shane and Lilah just makes the book so much better. They are perfect for one another.
I can't help but also love that it is not your typical happily ever after story straight away as in the real world that's not always how it goes.
I hope you all go purchase this book today as I can guarantee it is worth your money. 😁🔥📖

Lilah is back on set on the tv series she left a few years ago and all eyes are on her. When the show piloted years ago, she and co star Shane’s chemistry sizzled on and off screen until it all fell apart. Older and wiser, it doesn’t stop the chill and resentment between them. When they start “couples” therapy, it allows them to accept and regulate their feelings.

Instead of a second chance romance perpetuating the miscommunication, I loved that therapy helped Lilah and Shane work through their complicated feelings and their background. Ava Wilder’s ability to mix the story with the trials of celebrity and the mental health aspects of the invasion of privacy is impressive. Neither Shane or Lilah are diva types and their realism and care for their families and friends is adorable. After reading both her books recently, I am officially hooked ❤️
3.5 stars rounded up
I loved Wilders debut novel "How To Fake it in Hollywood" so I was thrilled to find out I'd received an ARC of her newest release and that it was second chance plus celebrity romance.
Things I loved:
When Shane and Lilah weren't hating each other I loved their back and forth banter and their texts/phonecalls and I did see chemistry there.
I loved the behind the scenes look that we get while they're shooting a TV series and all the in betweens (the photoshoot and the practice scene kiss 🥵🔥)
Things I wasn't fussed on
I was hoping for more with the therapy sessions but instead we got about 2 (3?) sessions and they didn't really delve into anything deep.
I feel like they went from hating each other to loving each other basically in an instant without any of the major problems they had being discussed, mainly why Lilah split them up in the first place. I would have at least liked a conversation between the two of them with Lilah explaining why she reacted the way she did.
Overall I did like the book and I'm glad I read it and will continue to read books from Ava Wilder but felt it could have been better. Thank you NetGalley and Headline Eternal for this ARC

Lilah and Shane are the stars of a hit paranormal tv show, and whilst their characters spent years pining for each other, the reality is the opposite. When Lilah returns after attempting to become a movie star, tensions run high. Can Shane and Lilah learn to get on to protect their careers?
Will they or won't they is honestly the most suitable title for this story, there is so many times when you think they will, and so many where you think they won't. Their was a lot of emotional moments and the ending was clever (imo).
I look forward to reading more from Ava.
Without a doubt, Will They or Won't They is one of my top books set in Hollywood. This is my first book by Ava Wilder and I was surprised by how good the slow burn was and the complexity of Lilah and Shane's relationship over the nine years, which kept me hooked from the start.
I really do recommend this book and I will be reading more in the future.

“On screen, they're in love. Off screen, they can't stand each other. Two co-stars with a complex history reunite to film the final season of a beloved paranormal drama in this tension-filled will they won't they romance from the author of How to Fake It in Hollywood”
Absolutely loved this book it was the perfect mix of slow-burn, enemies to lovers, second chance with banter and heartwarming moments. We really got to see how Lilah had eventually opened up to Shane and in the end, then growing together and focusing on what they want instead of what everyone wants them to do. This is my first book by Ava and it definitely won’t be my last, her writing really showed the tension and emotion between the characters and I loved every minute.
“You’re undeniable”🥺
Thank you to NetGalley, Headline and the author for the arc of this book! All opinions are my own.
This book got me out of my very, very long reading slump so firstly, thank you! I loved the author's last book and was really looking forward to reading this and it didn't disappoint; the chemistry between Lilah and Shane is immediate and within the first few pages I knew I was going to finish this in one sitting (I did).
I love how they knew how to push each others' buttons, and kept pushing them until breaking point. This is the epitome of the enemies-to-lovers trope where so many other books fall flat and feel lifeless; Lilah and Shane are complex, frustrating and both as stubborn as each other.
I can already see myself re-reading this soon and will confidently say Ava Wilder is now an auto-buy author for me. I can't wait to read whatever she writes next!
Ava Wilders second book and set in the movie / to world again. This time with on screen duo who are off screen enemies. Lots of banter and sexual tension which brings this book to and end way too quickly!
This is a second chance / enemies - lovers romance that plays on the individuals insecurities to build on the misunderstandings which lead to their enemy status but their first time round at romance is given a second chance when they discover how they have each matured and grown.
I couldn’t put this book down and raced through it. Ava Wilder is an author I think I will always want to pick up a book by and read!
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
If you write a celebrity romance novel, I’m reading it - that’s just the rule. And I really enjoyed this one!
Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy play the leads on a hit paranormal show. From the time they were cast, their chemistry was palpable and passionate, but at the end of the first season, they had a messy break-up and haven’t been on speaking terms off-set ever since. Lilah comes back to film the 9th and final season, where they’re reunited for the first time in years and have to face each other finally.
I loved Ava Wilder’s debut last year, so I was really anticipating this release. The banter was great, there was lots of tension throughout (with payoff obv!), and I loved following their relationship.
This one is out June 27th - Thank you to NetGalley and Headline Publishing Group for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
