After reading (and really enjoying) Ava Wilder’s debut novel last year, I kept an eye out for her next romance and when I read the description of Will They or Won’t They, I knew this was the book for me and I was so right. Co-stars who have been in love for almost a decade yet unfortunately seem to hate each other in the present? SIGN ME UP!!

I loved this book! Truly ate it up. I did feel like the first few chapters were a bit too slow and the pace took a while to pick up but once it did, I was so immersed in this story could not put this book down.

I really liked both Lilah and Shane and I loved seeing them work on their issues and find their way back together. It was clear from the very beginning that they had amazing chemistry and were meant to be together but they both had things they had to work through before they could be together and I really enjoyed that journey. I actually wish we’d seen more of their therapy sessions because I loved the few we did see and think it would have added even more depth to both them as characters and their relationship and what led them to where they stood at the beginning of the story. I also liked that there we got the occasional flashback/chapter set in the past so we got to see what actually happened between them rather than just hearing it from them.

If you’re looking for a second chance celebrity romance with amazing chemistry and insane tension this is the book for you!

★ 4.5/5 Stars ★

A big thank you to Headline and Netgalley for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Ava Wilder’s new story really lives up to its title. Lilah and Shane ride a rollercoaster of emotions during this story. At points the hate between them is so strong it’s hard to imagine how they might ever possibly come back together and I nearly felt like it might not be worth carrying on reading. They are so rude that I am not sure one would ever be forgiven! However, there are tender moments and the flashbacks do show how they first met at the casting auditions for their long running hit TV series. Ava Wilder writes in a fun, young not too serious style that is easy to read.

Thank you for my eARC of this! I really loved this romance. I loved the setting and the characters. Their chemistry is brilliant, and I loved the will they won’t they element, I absolutely rooted for them!

I hadn't read anything by Ava Wilder before, but I had to pick Will They or Won't They up when I read the description and realised it's basically Nian fanfiction. I won't be elaborating on that particular interest of mine any further, but if you know you know.

I had such a blast with this though! The pacing of the romance was absolutely perfect for me. Shane and Lilah start off meeting in the prologue, and then by the time chapter one rolls around you're alreayd rooting for them. Unfortunately, their relationship had already crashed and burned by then. I was so invested in the two of them getting back together immediately!

Thankfully, none of it was rushed. I loved that the pair had to go to couple's therapy despite not being a couple. Wilder touched upon how helpful therapy can be here in a subtle way. I really enjoyed being in both Lilah and Shane's heads and figuring out what was going on with them.

I always love stories about famous actors in Hollywood, so that combined with a little bit of fandom history (unofficially, because I don't think anything has been confirmed or even mentioned) made this a complete hit for me. I'm going to have to pick up Wilder's first book now!

Will They or Won't They is the story of Shane and Lilah, two actors who play each other's love interest on a TV show, but can't stand each other in reality and I devoured every single page of this book. I loved Ava Wilder's debut novel, How to Fake it in Hollywood and have been eagerly awaiting this one and she absolutely did not disappoint. The insecurities and vulnerabilities in the characters were perfectly balanced with banter and sexual tension. The story kept me engaged throughout and I was kept on the edge of my seat at the end, anticipation at its peak, to see how things would turn out for Shane and Lilah and Ava Wilder nailed it. I loved both characters with their strengths and flaws wrapped up in a perfect package and the chemistry between them leaped off the page. This is a brilliant novel and one I will definitely but back on my TBR pile for a re-read. Thank you Headline Eternal and NetGalley for the ARC.

After reading How To Fake It In Hollywood earlier in the year I was so excited when Ava announced Will They Or Won’t They, I absolutely adored her first book so couldn’t wait to read the new one!

This enemies to lovers, second chance romance was FULL of tension and angst!

The first time Lilah and Shane hooked up, they were young and unaware to how the fame from being on the biggest paranormal teen drama tv show would affect their budding relationship. They soon went their separate ways, ending on bad terms, with Lilah quitting the tv show to continue her career elsewhere.

Years later Lilah is asked back to film the final season with Shane and the rest of the cast.
Both are more mature and more aware of their feelings, will working together again result in reconciliation or will their differences still continue to get in the way?

I absolutely adored this book! Ava writes celebrity romances so well, and I loved that it was based around 2 actors from a teen drama show!
The characters were far from perfect, each with their own flaws which was really nice to see as it’s not often portrayed in celebrity culture!
I really loved seeing it from both Shane and Lilah’s POV, it always makes me feel more connected to the story!
And the ending?? Didn’t see that little twist coming!

Highly recommend picking this one up!

Thank you NetGalley and Headline Eternal for the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review!

Wow, this novel was incredible. Going into it, I was hoping for an angsty second chance romance where the tension is palpable and the chemistry is electric. Thankfully, it delivered on every front. It was an addictive read, propelled on by the need to find out what caused their friction. This added a mystery element to the story which was genuinely compelling. The book didn’t exactly follow a dual timeline structure, but it did flashback to time points during their history together. I loved getting to these chapters and would have happily read the entire nine years of their relationship.

Lilah and Shane were great main characters. Naturally, their romance took centre stage but I did enjoy getting to know them separately and learn more about their careers and family dynamics. The glimpse into their not-always glamorous life as actors was so much fun and made the whole reading experience feel immersive.

I loved Lilah and Shane’s antagonistic dynamic. They both made multiple mistakes within their relationship, yet the longing between them was still so tangible. This was made obvious by their effortless banter back and forth, where neither would quite say what they wanted to and they’d often make clever callbacks to previous conversations. Their messy drama only got more complicated when they went out of their way to play with each other’s heads – it was so fun to watch! In between their attempts at one-upmanship, there was time for quieter, tender moments, which gave me hope for their relationship.

This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. It was plotted in such a way that it became addictive to read and the romance perfectly balanced built-up angst with tangible longing.

I didn’t know if I wanted to request Will They or Won’t They; despite how intriguing the synopsis is, I didn’t enjoy Wilder’s first book, How to Fake it in Hollywood. However, Will They or Won’t They was completely different, and I loved it.

Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy co-star in the long-running hit supernatural tv show Intangible; their chemistry together is off the charts, yet things between the two couldn’t be colder behind the scenes. Having dated and flamed out during their first year on the show, the next four years before Lilah left were filled with arguing, cold shoulders, stony silences, and verbal attacks daily. Yet when Lilah's solo career doesn’t pan out as hoped, she returns to star alongside Shane in the ninth and final season.

Lilah and Shane were petty, mean, and cruel to each other, but the tension underlining every interaction was addictive. Switching between the past and present, we saw the development and downfall of their relationship while also experiencing them trying to work together all over again. With distance and time to mature (slightly), they started to warm up to each other incrementally, and the slow burn that started to shine through was riveting.

A cute, fun, Easy read. I really enjoyed this book and the characters. Would recommend if you're looking for a fast read to get lost in.

I really liked this book. I've not read a book by Ava before but I've already bought her other book. How To Fake It In Hollywood, as I really enjoyed her writing, the characters where so interesting and the story was so intriguing of a will they or won't they, friends to lovers to enemies possibly back to lovers? I just adored every second off this book.

Lilah and Shane meet at a cast calling for a new show not realising where their futures will go after this day. The story is told with scenes from the past and the present and I really enjoyed that as it gives you more backstory and what these characters where like. Lilah is returning to the show for a final season but she isn't happy about it and neither is Shane and they just pretend that the other isn't there and just want to get their scenes completed. They had a secret fling that ended badly and after she left the show they both tried to move and get past it but now they are back together it has opened up old wounds and also feelings. Can they get past what happened and film what they need too to move on or will the time they spend together change everything for them?

The chemistry, the banter, the way these characters have been written just instantly make you want to root for them. I adored both of them and getting to read about what happened and how they felt really added to the story. If this was a real show also I just know I would be obsessed. Lilah is scared of love and meeting Shane made her feel something she hasn't felt for real before and it scared her so seeing him again really makes her question a lot.

This book is full of banter, sexual tension, with high emotion throughout and it was very enjoyable. Ava is a fantastic writer as I was instantly gripped and didn't stop reading until I finished and even then I wanted more. I cannot wait to see what they writes next as Ava is becoming a new favourite off mine.

Lilah and Shane have been shipped on their famous tv show for nine years, but after a tumultuous real-life relationship that ended after the first season, the pair can barely stand to be around each other.

After leaving the show due to Shane back in season five, Lilah returns for the final season to give the fans what they want - a happy ever after for Kate and Harrison, but will she get her own happily ever after?

This book goes from Insta love, to enemies to lovers, with a nice bit of miscommunication and one bed trope thrown in. There’s spice, there’s angst and there’s dual timeline and POV.

Ava Wilder has done another great job of bringing to life a Hollywood film set that makes the book seem both glamorous and realistic. A nice and fun read.

Thanks NetGalley and Headline for the ARC.

✨Big thank you to Ava Wilder, Headline Eternal and Netgalley for giving me a chance to read and review this ARC prior to its release in exchange for an honest review!✨

I’ve read quite a few romance novels recently and none have blown me away or they just weren’t all that enjoyable…until this one. I wasn’t far into this book before I wanted to give it a hug. That might be weird but this really hit the spot for me and was a lovely story. Shane was a lovable MMC and reminded me a lot of my husband, which may be one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. If you’re a fan of second chance romance, enemies to loves and books where the guy falls first, this is one for you! Along with the romance being some of the best I’ve read this month, the characters and story were well fleshed out too, Ava knows how to write about a cult favourite TV show, that’s for sure, and I for one would watch Intangible if it were a real series. This is one of the few books I’ve read on my kindle where I will be racing to get a physical copy upon its release and I can’t wait to read what else Ava has to come out in the future!

‘Will they or won’t they” is a showbiz set rom-com by the author of ‘How to Fake it in Hollywood’.

Lilah comes back to the tv show that made her a star with her tail between her legs after a failed movie, to face the co-star who she had a fuckbuddy relationship with that imploded. The two now hate each other after various miscommunications and she’s dreading spending time in his company again, especially when it becomes clear she is still physically attracted to him…

I enjoyed this and it achieved what it had set out to do, but it’s not exactly breaking the mould. The storyline is very obvious how it was going to end from the get go and although it’s supposed to be enemies to lovers, I was never convinced by the enemies aspect. I didn’t find Lilah all that likeable, she was just too perfect for me and her “I’m so relatable” trait was that she had anxiety seemed very throwaway. There was really only one scene where that was a factor and that was used to progress the plot in a very swift fashion. Issues were brought up and then resolved seemingly within a page or two so it was all very low stakes. Also, backstory was brought up seemingly to flesh out the characters but they never actually felt that fleshed out.

Tropes included:
Miscommunication
Enemies to lovers
Second chance romance

Good for a lighthearted read, but ultimately forgettable. I imagine it will be popular though, it’s the type of book you will be able to pick up in The Works in a few months on a deal.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in return for an honest review.

I'm kind of teetering towards four stars for this one, though I feel I'm giving it rather reluctantly. And that's largely due to the final 10% of the book and a heavy-handed use of the miscommunication trope being dragged on for a smidge too long for my liking. Following the two leads of a CW-style show who hate each other (supposedly), "Will They or Won't They" is an angsty back-and-forth romance between two people who can't communicate - even when they're in therapy.

There was a lot to like about this. Ava Wilder's writing style is great and I'm now more eager to pick up her first book (yes, I'm reading out of order). The pacing was good and the banter between the leads really helped develop the chemistry in their relationship. I also thought it was just hot. There are only two or three major sex scenes, but Wilder doesn't shy away from them - she gives us anatomy, she gives us emotion, she gives us actual description. No fades to black here, my friends. But even the flirting scenes, the suggestive scenes, the 'oh my god are we going to kiss scenes' were so full of energy that I felt myself getting a bit hot under the collar while reading them.

I knock off points because of the final 10% of the book. It was totally unnecessary - particularly, as the conclusion we were getting to had essentially been solved at the 90% mark. It just seemed like a ploy to make the book longer, rather than actually adding anything new to these characters or their relationship. It could've even been an epilogue, rather than 30 or so pages. If I'd had a red editor pen, I would've restructured the third act and brought it all together in a more concise fashion - it felt clumsier than the rest of the book.

I appreciated the anxiety rep but didn't appreciate Shane and Lilah abandoning any situation that got difficult rather than actually talking to each other. One of the core conflicts is about something Shane thought happened, but actually didn't, and that irked me. So, it's a mixed bag. But, it's also a fun summer read that'll be great for the beach.

This is a five-star read that has such chemistry that the pages should smoke. Lilah and Shane have great chemistry, but as we all know great chemistry come with friction and explosions. It must have been so hard for Lilah to come back to something she had left behind, hoping for something bigger and better, but not getting it. That must hurt you and knock your confidence no matter the face you put on it, then you have Shane who likely has imposter syndrome, as no matter how successful you are, you can always doubt yourself when life comes so easy. This story takes you on a journey that comes to the most glorious conclusion.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Will They or Won’t They is very similar to the authors previous work; so if you enjoyed that, you will enjoy this too.

Cute will they or won't they book from Ava Wilder. After a huge movie flop, Linah is forced to go back to her old show for one final series. Problem: Shane the man she had once been friends with but now they absoutely hate each other. You'll have the new book from Ava to find out more.

This book truly lived up to its name. I LOVED the romantic tension, right person wrong time and enemies to lovers masterpiece this was. The characters were funny, flawed, realistic and filled with chemistry for each other. This is the perfect romance to talk about with your friends and get that heartwarming happy feeling with all the adorable scenes. Overall an amazing romance you’ll want to read in one sitting.

"What if we're different now?"

Lilah and Shane haven't see each other for a few years and are reunited again to finish the last series of the tv show they use to both be on until Lilah decided to leave at the end of season 5 to presume other roles. On screen they both are in love with each other. But during series 1 they had a fling for a while, which ended badly and they both have hated each other every since.

I have never wanted to bang two peoples heads together more than Lilah and Shane. There was so much tension and energy between the two and they both are their own worst enemies. They just need to communicate more and just say what they are really feeling but they are both stubborn as each other. Throwing insults at each other whenever they are in the room together as a way to deal with everything.

I really liked how the struggles of the acting world was portrayed and that both Lilah and Shane suffered with mental health which was shown in a way that wasn't the main focus of the book. But showed a bit of a reason to why they acted in a way as they did and it shows it took time to rebuild their relationship back from enemies to lovers.

I loved this book and I was invested in both Lilah and Shane from the word go. Ava's writing is so easy going and flows really well that I flew through the book. I will definitely be reading Ava's work again.

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of the book for an honest review.

This book contained some of the best romantic tension I have read in a while - I was completely engrossed in Lilah and Shane’s love story!

When we meet Lilah and Shane, they are both holding onto resentment for each other that they don’t know how to get past.

I loved their journey from being combative to being vulnerable and trusting their hearts to each other. We even got some “couples” therapy sessions; which I would have loved more of!

The flashbacks in the novel helped us understand their present - the attraction was always there, they just needed time to grow up, so they could truly learn each other. Shane describes it as “a love that felt old and new at the same time” which I loved.

I also loved how we got a glimpse of the chemistry between the characters they play on their show - particularly when they were prepping a kiss that had been years in the making! (Those of us with shipper hearts will know what I mean about the power of a long awaited kiss!)

The third act tension also didn’t feel forced or dragged out and I loved how they resolved it - it felt unique!

You’ll love this if you love:
🤍Enemies to lovers
🤍He falls first
🤍Will they won’t they
🤍Forced proximity

Thank you NetGalley and Headline Eternal for the DRC!
