Before now this series has given us a really awkward one about the planets, and another about sea-life, which was much better. Here we're on the winning streak, as the layers of the book that increase in size portray our movement through the different layers of the Earth, from where we can stumble upon rabbits in their dens, and fossils, right down to where it gets a bit scorchio. The illustrations join in with the levity, a mole joining our heroes on their splendiferous journey, but the science here is just right for those choosing non-fiction for the first time – an option made all the more likely by the way this book is constructed. Having the pages increase in size as if we're peeling an onion in reverse is always going to be an eye-catching concept, and this definitely deserves our attention for early science readers.

I loved this little children's board book, which is all about Evie and her dog Juno who explore what it is like under the earth. The book has colourful and bright images, which young children will love. My daughter and I found this book very interesting and it was very fun to read. Highly recommended!

My youngest and I enjoyed this book about what is under the earth. With each turn of the page, you get a layer lower in the Earth's ground. It was clear and manageable to understand vocabulary, introducing some new words throughout. The pictures were colorful and easy to see and follow. We enjoyed this adventure together! Simple, but fun, this book is great for young children to learn the basics of geology. A quick read that is sure to spark children’s Curiosity and imagination. Perfect for beginning and young readers in grades K-2.

This book shows the layers of the earth and has onomatopoeias throughout it. There is a fun adventure as the earth's layers are explored. There are good descriptions, but not very many facts.

Explore Under the Earth was a great children's book. I cannot wait to go out and purchase it for my son. Digitally, it was a little hard to envision, at first, because it appears to be very small and I did not understand that the physical book will most likely have pages that build up to a lovely arc at the end. The story described the main parts of the Earth. The illustrations were great.

Another wonderful addition to Carly Madden's Explore series.

This one explores our planet and the layers that it is made of. Starting at the core, Madden explains each layer alongside bright, fun illustrations which make it easy to visualise what is beneath our feet.

An overall brilliant book!

"Explore Under the Earth" takes Evie and her dog Juno down through the layers of—surprise—the earth, learning a bit about each layer as they go.

I love the varying sizes of the pages, which allow for something tactile and colorful. The order seems backwards to me (surely the pages should get smaller as Evie and Juno go down deeper into the earth?), though it would take a total and probably difficult rewrite to start at the earth's core and work outwards, so I can see why the author opted to do otherwise. It's easy to see how this concept would translate well to other shaped board books—a triangular mountain book, perhaps? Another partial circle for one about rainbows? The possibilities go on and on.

Learning is fun!
We are invited to join Evie and her pet dog, Juno, as the explore all the levels and things to see and learn as they go down into the very center of the earth. Along the way down we learn a little about dinosaur bones, earthquakes, and even a volcano. It's terrific!
The illustrations by Neil Clark are delightful, imaginative, striking, and brilliantly colorful.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!

This board book takes little readers on a journey towards the earth’s center. It’s a quick trip filled with rich imagery and just enough info for little ones to understand.

So informative with beautiful illustrations! My four year old loved this! We will be reading this again.

This was a really nice book to read and I loved the different colours for the sections, they were very in keeping with the tones of Earth as we ventured deeper and deeper down through our planet.

The book was easy to read and the story was easy to follow too with the main characters working their way down through the different layers of Earth, through the Crust, Mantle to the planet's core. The little facts added in were a perfect touch, although there were not as many in this book as in a couple of the other books in the same series.

The illustrations were lovely and really brought the book to life.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, a great introduction to what our planet is made from for younger children, I read the book with my 5 year old and she thought it was great so it was a hit in our house - very highly recommended!
