Admittedly not the usual type of book review but this is another beaut that my kids love. Tom Percival's books are just so lovely to look at and get such great messages woven through them.

I love this series of books and Finn’s Little Fibs does not disappoint. What starts as one little lie to keep himself out of trouble, soon balloons into a BIG problem and Finn feels guilty.
I love how the feelings in these books are represented as little fluffy objects that surround and overwhelm the characters until they find a way to deal with them.
They are a great way to teach children empathy, through a simple story and eye-catching illustrations. They are also a way into teaching appropriate responses to events and feelings that can feel too big to handle in a manner that doesn’t call children out for their own actions.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use this book with children across the primary age range to promote discussion and teach the importance of telling the truth and taking responsibility.

As with all the books in the Big Bright Feelings series, this is a gentle but moral tale about telling fibs, similar to 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf.' Readers will see what can happen when a little tiny lie grows into something big and, rather than being didactic, it encourages them to develop their understanding of right and wrong and make good choices for themselves.
This book is bright and bold with an engaging front cover which will appeal to both genders. The characters are diverse and the language is age-appropriate, accessible and above all entertaining. Children will be able to relate to Finn's predicament, exploring the theme of truth and honesty alongside family and friendships. It's a great addition to the series which is a brilliant asset to every classroom, library and home environment.

Another great title from Percival in this series.

Personifying moods and actions, Tom Percival impresses each time. I've loved him since 'A Home for Mr Tipps' and I'm particularly impressed with this series he's working through, giving voices and colour to various emotions that are often hard to describe and explain to young children.

Here it's Finn who tells just a small fib to get out of trouble, though this means landing his sister in it. And visually readers can see that one fib doesn't disappear - it just grows and becomes a bigger problem, getting in the way of other things.

It makes the whole idea of lying very easy to understand for even a young reader who could see through the illustrations the trouble lies can cause, both for the fibber and those around them.

Percival handles Finn's worries beautifully, giving a simple and effective solution and a happy resolution that reassures.

Wonderfully illustrated and great for schools and bedrooms reading.

For ages 3-7.

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.

Tom Percival books are always perfect and this one is no exception.
Finn finds himself in the position where telling the truth feels like the hardest thing to do so he tells a fib, but as is often the case, that leads to more and more fibs being told until eventually the fibs are getting in the way of him enjoying his time with the people he loves.
This story gently reaffirms the importance of telling the truth and beautiful illustrated the snowball effect of fibbing and how upsetting the weight of them can be. The story also shows that it’s never too late to own up to a fib and that the relief from telling the truth, no matter how big the fib has become, can be a beautiful thing in itself.
This would be perfect to use in an early years classroom and could lead to some beautiful pieces of work, such as children drawing what their own fib blobs look like or circle times about how they feel when they own up to something.
Another fantastically helpful book by Tom Percival to add to the Big Bright Feelings Book series.

I love Tom Percival's ability to take a big feeling and turn it into a picture book suitable for using with children. This would be perfect to share during a PSHE lesson or following a playtime incident where it is necessary to tell the truth and then face the consequences. It will certainly prompt lots of discussion about choices and would lend itself to many different follow up activities. The colourful illustrations and short chunks of engaging text will make this accessible from early years through to upper key stage 2.
I can't wait to see what Tom writes next.

Absolutely wonderful book to add to the Tom Percival collection!

My children (ages 9, 7 and 3) and I love reading these books and were very excited to read Finn’s Little Fibs! This books has a great story to it, with a wonderful lesson to learn at the end.

The illustrations are beautiful and I love the diversity shown throughout this book series.

As a primary teacher, this is a book I can see myself using with pupils and creating activities to go alongside it.

Another great addition to Tom’s series and we will be snapping this one up when it is released!

Finn’s Little Fibs is another beautiful edition toTom Percival’s Big Bright Bright Feelings series. As is always the case with these, this heartfelt story is accompanied by colourful, attractive illustrations. As Finn finds fib after fib popping out of his mouth, he feels funny in his tummy. The lies themselves are cleverly depicted by vibrant flying blobs that really get in the way of him enjoying his holiday. The author does a fantastic job of describing the emotions and physical sensations associated with guilt. This is a must-buy for any library.

Finn’s Little Fibs
By Tom Percival
Published by Bloomsbury Publishing PLC

Another fabulous picture book to add to Tom Percival’s Big Bright Feelings series, tells the tale of Finn who tells one tiny lie that then turns into too many!!

Who broke grandma's precious clock?
Finn knows he’s done wrong and needs to own up especially when he sees how sad and upset his Grandma is. But once he tells one fib, more fibs fly out of his mouth, until they are out of control and part of his life. Blaming his sister isn’t the answer.
Telling more fibs isn’t the answer. But this dark, consuming feeling won’t go away. Can he find a way out of this terrible mistake?

This beautifully illustrated picture book about telling the truth, encourages us all to be open and honest and just be our true self! It is a reassuring and humorous book that will be loved over and over again by parents and teachers far and wide.

Tom Percival's Big Bright Feelings books cover lots of important topics for children - such as worries, family and now lying.
Finn's little fib is perfect for younger readers who may struggle with telling the truth. Finn is on holiday with his younger sister - Simone. He is in his grandmas' house when his ball accidentally breaks his grandma's clock. Instead of owning up, Finn blames Simone and then the lying escalates Every time he lies - a little blob appears next to him and the blobs keep multiplying until Finn tells the truth. Lovely bright illustrations accompany the sensitively written book - with text that younger children can read and understand.

Tom Percival always produces thought provoking books. Children can easily identify with the beautifully illustrated characters and Finn's Little Fibs is no exception. A perfect way to gently suggest to children that lying is usually wrong but there are ways that you can make things better. Thanks to Netgalley and Bloomsbury Publishing.

Ah, Tom Percival does it again with bells on! This is a fab story and covers something so important with no judgement. I really like the terminology about fibs 'popping' out and how to address that. I could really imagine reading it through with my kids and using that terminology to help them be truthful without feeling like they'll get in trouble. I'll definitely be buying a copy!

Oh I love Tom Percival’s books. His latest #BigBrightFeelings book deals with telling lies.

When Finn tells a lie, a blob appears, and then he lies more, more blobs appear and it ruins his family time… he knows what he has to do! Will be adding this to my collection!

This is such a fabulous series of books to help young children navigate the social world.
Finn learns that honesty is always the best policy, even when telling the truth feels impossible.
The illustrations are delightful and the visual image of how the lies build up and up until they affect every aspect of his life, are really powerful and easy for children to understand the message.
This is definitely a book for every nursery and primary school.

Tom Percival never gets it wrong! Finn’s Little Fibs is another brilliant words - I loved the illustrations, the moral of the story. It would be a great book to use with younger children, teaching them how lies can spiral and how telling the truth is always best, even when it feels it’s difficult.
My 7 year old nephew loved this book at his name is Finlay!

Another great story by Tom Percival which helps younger children understand feelings and learn to deal with the consequences
Finn tells a fib about breaking something and a little blob appears near him. The story cleverly shows how the more you don't tell the truth ths more the lie builds up as more blobs appear which get in Finn's way of enjoying himself, eating his tea etc. A lovely ending showing how telling the triuh makes you feel better

I thought that this was a really funny story and one that we enjoyed!

I read the book with my five year old daughter, or rather she read the book to me, it was perfect for her age range.

The message really did sink in for her and she tells everyone absolutely everything at the moment (she is 5) and hopefully books like this one will make sure that continues too (well regarding almost everything!)

It was easy to read and follow and the layout of the book was nice, clear, bright and attractive too.  The illustrations worked well with the story and helped bring it all to life

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!
