I didnt love this book as much as I wanted to love it. I found it very hard going and I really tried to like this book. The book isn't have it is described so I did end up DNF the book.
This book was a pretty good read but it didn’t exceed my expectations unfortunately and I didn’t love this book as much as I wanted to.
I absolutely loved The Storm Crow duology so I was excited to pick up this book but I don’t think this story suited my tastes sadly.
However, I did enjoy reading the Illinir horse races though and all of the intense action scenes throughout the book.
I have mixed feelings about the characters and I’m sad that I didn’t love them as much as I felt like I should have. But I do love Mikira though! She was probably one of the only characters I enjoyed reading about including her little sisters and Reid.
For some reason I just didn’t enjoy Arielle’s pov chapters as much as Mikira’s. The bond between each of the characters was sort of confusing because they trusted each other but then didn’t and it just kept on going in circles which I was frustrated with because I found it hard to trust anyone apart from Mikira. Which probably makes sense since Mikira’s distrust was reflected in me as a reader since I was reading from her pov.
I might give the second book a read when it comes out though because although I didn’t love this book, I am still quite curious with how the events in this first book will affect what happens in the second. There are still a lot of questions left unanswered that hopefully would be addressed in the next book.
