Rhianna is determined to reset her life. After a painful breakup she decides to move to Cornwall to open a cocktail bar. She doesn't expect to run into Joe, a man she had a holiday fling with years before. Joe hasn't been interested in settling down with anyone, but there's something about Rhianna. The banter between these two is delightful. The characters and setting overlap with Teresa F. Morgan's other titles and it's imaginative and lovely world-building. I could absolutely see myself strolling along the sidewalks of this seaside town befriending the locals. Perfect summer read!

I like Teresa F. Morgan's writing style, and Cocktails at Kittiwake Cove is a very enjoyable story. Morgan does a good job of setting the stage in this charming, rural village. And the colorful characters are endlessly entertaining.

Cocktails at Kittiwake Cove is a marvelous personal journey story. The novel opens with Rhianna breaking up with her long term boyfriend, which is the impetus for all of this young woman's big life changes. I felt a bit let down that she feels the need to cap off her wonderful personal and financial success with a romance.

To be honest, Joe didn't seem like the perfect guy for Rhianna, and I'd have been fine if they had just remained friends at the end. I didn't get a compelling connection between them. It's a slow burn, which might even deserve a second book to grow their relationship.

The audio version is beautifully performed by Catrin Walker-Booth. Walker-Booth's voice is melodic, and they use some great accents for the characters. Nicely done!

Rhianna's story is a great one because it's all about her finding her voice and creating a life she wants to live, as opposed to accepting the life she's been handed. After her long-time boyfriend reveals himself to be a major louse, she leaves their home and settles in the place she last remembers being happy. What she didn't expect is that the guy she had a summer fling with when she was there last would still be there.

As she pursues her own dream of opening a bistro in her new hometown, she works to figure out what she wants her life to be like moving forward. In a lot of ways, she takes back her power to be a decision maker and master of her own fate, which made this an inspiring book to read.

Thank you to Teresa F. Morgan, Saga Egmont Audio, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. A lovely summery story that left me wanting more from these characters.

What a cute and perfect summer read. Rihanna moves to Kittiwake Cove after separating from her ex with the dream of opening her own beachside bistro. When she arrives, she can’t afford to rent a place and Joe, the owner of the local pub and a past summer fling, offers up his place. Sparks fly between Rihanna and Joe, but both try to keep it at bay to not ruffle up their friendship and living situation. I loved that Morgan showed all the aspects of opening a new business. Decisions that must be made; things that must be ordered etc. The characters were great. This was a slow burn romance with a lot of side friendships. The storyline was easy to follow. I wanted to be right with all of them in the beautifully described setting sipping cocktails right beside them. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator. This was first published in 2021 but the audiobook is being released tomorrow, June 6th, 2023.

📖 Rhianna moves to a sleepy but beautiful Kittywake cove in Cornwall from Bristol after a bad breakup. When she walks into the pub where she'll be renting a flat over the pub, she realizes that Joe, a summer fling, is her landlord and soon to be boss.
Joe was lust at first sight. Rhianna obviously still holds a flame for him, but he's so aloof, she can NEVER tell how he feels. Joe doesn't remember having a summer fleeing with Rhianna because he only had short flings, never any locals.

💭 I listened to this as an audio book and the narrator is great! The vivid descriptions of delicious cocktails were divine and really the star of the story. Rhianna spends a whole lot of time ruminating about Joe and how she could never have a serious relationship with him, which seems to drag on. But there's obvious sexual tension and a hookup, but Joe is so reluctant to admit that he likes her and it's a bit infuriating. I loved Joe's mom! She calls him out and convinces him to tell Rhianna how he feels. His declaration of love comes at the very end of the book and falls flat. I wasn't convinced of his rapid changed man routine, who all of sudden wanted a monogamous life and his undying love for Rhianna. However, it's all Rhianna wanted and it seems to make her very happy and who doesn't love a Happily Ever After? Although not very steamy, there's some witty banter that makes it a predictable, but cute story. It's perfect for reading at the beach or poolside!

This book didn't work for me. The main characters took to long to connect. Also, I listened to the audiobook and found the narrator to be very monotone.

This is a fun summertime read. Rhianna and Joe are interesting characters whom I enjoyed. Their romance and individual development was fun and entertaining. I enjoyed their chemistry and on page interactions. There were a couple of plot points that I didn’t see the point of or understand, but otherwise I really enjoyed the story. I like this world and was glad to go back to it. In Sunsets and Happy Every Afters we got a taste of it. The secondary characters are interesting and added to the fabric of the story. I would have liked to have seen more of Joe’s family.

The narrator did a good job – was easy to understand and follow.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked the reader in the audiobook. I enjoyed the storyline of the main character in the restaurant industry. It unfortunately was a cliche predictable ending that wasn't very gripping or stand out from the rest.

This was such a happy and cosy read. I immediately settled into it and loved disappearing into sunny Cornwall for a bit, following Rihanna and her mission to open up a cocktail bar and bistro.

Running into an old fling, the last thing she expected to see was Joe, the owner of the bar and man who currently is landlord at the place where she’s staying. She vows not to get involved but fate sees them draw closer and closer together. Fighting attraction, Joe also pledges not to get involved as a long-term commitmentphobe but we see how well that goes throughout the duration of the book..!

All the characters were so easy to like and the book as a whole was just so easy to fall in with. It was entertaining, had enough to keep you invested and left you feeling happy and eager to return to the atmospheric vibes of Cornwall. A great, fun read and a wonderfully narrated audiobook to boot.

I'm glad I accidentally listened to these out of order, as I enjoyed the next book in the series more than this one. While this is likewise an easy summer listen, I didn't like how the romance unfolded between Joe and Rhianna. I didn't like the situations Joe put himself in, and the miscommunications between the two of them. I wish they had talked more, rather than think about one another. I did like the location, Rhianna's drive, and the how the bistro came to life. Overall a light summer read, with a great narrator. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

After a nasty breakup leaves her broken-hearted, Rhianna decides to start over in the beach town where she spent so many happy days in her childhood. What could be more fun than running her own beachside bar? With help from her family and the decidedly hunky pub owner, Joe, as well as the supportive locals, Rhianna is on the way to making her business dreams come true. Does she dare risk it all for a second chance at love? A sweet and breezy beach romance

Rhianna moves to Cornwall to get away from her ex and hopefully open her very own bistro and cocktail bar! When she gets there, she ends up working for Joe, who she happened to have a fling with on her last holiday. At first, Joe does not remember her but as they work together, he does and they start to reconnect. At first, they reconnect as friends, especially when Rhianna sees how much of a player Joe is, but after a while, she starts to wonder if they should really have a go at it.

I loved getting to meet Joe's family and see how jealous he got over other guys flirting with Rhianna. I also loved how her dream of opening a bistro and cocktail bar came true. Her vision was perfect and it sounded like a place that I would want to go to on vacation! Of course, I love a HEA too!
