Wow what a book. I couldn't put it down it was that good. Marla is a long suffering wife whose husband loves to stray. When her husband Damon is found in the middle of the road after being hit by a car there are a lot of questions to be asked. The women in his life are all keeping secrets that will soon come out.
I loved this book from start to finish and look forward to reading more from this author.

This story follows three women as they all discover secrets about their lives. The book is written in 3 points of view which I found made the story an easy and quick read.

Unfortunately, that is probably the only thing I really enjoyed about the story. I felt that the “twist” was predictable (I knew by chapter 5/6) and that the ending felt rushed and left me feeling confused.

If you are a fan of stories like Big Little Lies or other books by this author, you may still want to give it a try! Perhaps it just wasn’t for me.

The Truth About the Accident is what my husband would call a "pot-boiler" and the story of the marriage of Marla and Damon certainly is that. Damon is incapable of being faithful and has at least two additional women in his life. Plenty of twists and turns and definitely a compulsive read, the book is great for any fan of thrillers or marital upsets.

It was my first book of the author. It started well but then got worse and worse page by page. All twists and suspense were predictable. A very disappointed ending.

What a brilliant family drama from this author, slightly different to her usual books but equally as good. All the characters were excellent and I just couldn't put this book down, great from the very first page until the superb ending ............................ what a book!

This book started off really strong, and then it went downhill quickly. I seriously don’t know how this has such strong ratings.
We start with an accident. Damon is a husband, a father, and he has been struck head on by an unidentified vehicle. Nobody is truly a suspect, because the rain was so heavy and the cameras around the street were down.
There are 4 POV’s that we follow:
Marla - Damon’s wife. She knows Damon is a scumbag, but stays with him to keep up her very privileged Instagrammable life.
Sonya - A therapist, slept with Damon over a decade ago.
Athena - A new age store owner, Damon’s current mistress, extremely naive for a 30 something.
Mystery Woman - Obsessed with Damon for some reason, you find out why at the very end.
Honestly, ALL of these women are naive, and completely unlikeable. They all have feelings for Damon even though he’s a man whore who has been sleeping around for years. And even when they find out about his issues, they still think there’s a chance that he’ll recover from his disgusting ways??? It’s just really strange and I felt absolutely no sympathy for any of them. Marla knows he’s a douche and stays with him out of complacency, and the Mistresses sleep with him even though he has a wife. They’re all just… dumb and have zero substance.
I wouldn’t recommend this at all, and having a child with a loser beta man child is no reason to keep being a bad person.

Another winner from Nicole Trope! I recently discovered this author and this is the second book I have read. She is definitely becoming one of my favorite authors. Great characters and a great storyline! Very well written and I really enjoyed all the complexities of the characters. Definitely worth reading! Great ending!! Demon (Oops!, I mean Damon) Kennedy is the charismatic and prodigious womanizer. The story focuses on the three main women currently in his life— his Instagram perfect wife, the beautiful “new agey” mistress, and his brainy-but-beautiful therapist. The story deftly hits on the strengths, weaknesses, and fantasies of each woman and what they desperately want their relationship with Damon to be. His gift is knowing these things and feeding their fantasies to stoke his own narcissistic need for constant adoration from all women. I recognized parts of myself in all of these ladies and what my gender puts up with to attain domestic bliss.

Each chapter is told from a first person narrative of each woman. There are no chapters from Damon’s perspective as he is in a medically induced coma due to a tragic hit and run accident. The story unfolds from the accident and the subsequent investigation. Was one (or more!) of our girls the driver? I won’t tell you any spoilers, nor did I see the final twist coming. The ending was satisfying as any telenovela is in a good way. Better than a beach read! I was turning pages late into the evening on this one.

I thought this book by Nicole Trope was super entertaining and unique. This was my first one by her and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I loved the different perspectives between the female characters because all their different lives/personalities really shined through in their solo chapters. Then, discovering how they were all connected through one specific person added another layer to the story. It was written well and paced nicely with short chapters and different story tellers. I will not give anything away but felt like the story wrapped up in a very satisfying way and I was pleased. I feel like my rating of 3.75 (rounded up to 4 stars) is a good representation of the book.

By examining the idea of ambiguous moral boundaries, Trope encourages readers to reconsider their own moral convictions. The story's psychological complexity adds levels of complexity and elevates it above the level of a simple thriller.
While reading "The Truth about the Accident" is a thrilling and suspenseful experience, some readers might find some of the story twists or character motivations to be predictable or common in the genre. Trope makes up for any little flaws with her ability to develop interesting, empathetic characters and her mastery of emotional nuance.

I’ve enjoyed so many of this author’s work. And each time she brings the absolute best suspense I can ever imagine.
The Truth about the Accident by Nicole Trope is a deliciously twisted, heart-stoppingly tense and absolutely terrifying read.
This was a quick read as it was a fast paced story.
Trope delivers quite a few twists and turns in The Truth about the Accident.
The multiple POVs made for an even more entertaining story.
I couldn’t put it down with all the suspense and twists and turns throughout. The characters were great, the plot was excellent and the style of writing was perfect. I have read many books by this author and enjoyed every one of them.

This book was very interesting, I was definitely motivated to read it throughout the entire book because surprises were sprinkled throughout. I did feel that the ending was disappointing, I thought the book was leading up to something different. Overall I enjoyed the read

No one saw what happened when Damon was hit by a car on a busy, rainy day. While the main cameras were down, there is some footage. There are four suspects, and one of them is his wife, and he seems to be connected to the other three as well. The police are asking questions while Damon’s fighting for his life in the ICU. What happened to all the texts? Why is no one upset he’s in the hospital?

This was a really fun domestic suspense despite being very predictable. Although this wasn’t a new concept, the book was still fun. I enjoyed that the fourth point of view was kept hidden until the end, that was a fun reveal. There was lots of suspense and I loved watching the pieces fall into place. I loved how the pieces all came together in the end. It was a lot of fun. The writing style was well done, and I enjoyed. This was a fun suspenseful and emotional read.

If you are looking for a fun domestic suspense, then I hope you check this one out June 30th.

Packed full of suspense and a super twisty story that will keep you guessing.

The complete package! A very suspenseful, very twisty and very mysterious story. The Truth About the Accident opens with the accident. It's quite a while however, until the injured party is identified and just how they are related to the other characters. The characters are well drawn and sympathetic and before long you are quite invested in the outcome!

Trope carefully winds and unwinds threads of the story as you begin to understand little is what it seems. If you love a domestic thriller, love a book with more than one shocking twist or just want a story to keep you up all night, The Truth About the Accident is for you!

I have read some of This authors other books. This one just didn’t do it for me. The characters weren’t very likable with the exception of Athena. It was easy to figure out and I saw the twist coming. The best thing was the revenge the women got at the end was great!

The Truth about the Accident is an intricate drama that focuses on the lives of four women in the aftermath of a hit-and-run. The book is written from each of these four woman: Marla the wife, Athena the mistress, Sonya the therapist and then a fourth mystery woman we don’t find out the identity of until the end of the book. All of these woman lives are affected by Damon, the man that was the victim of the hit-and-run. There is a little mystery to this, we do not know who hit Damon but overall this novel was more about the lives of these woman. This would have worked I think if any of them had been likable. Each of them were obsessed with Damon, even though it reads like he has no redeeming quality other than he is handsome. I had hoped for a bit of character growth, but the focus on the last fourth of the book turns into more of a thriller as we finally find out who ran over Damon and the identity of the fourth woman. Overall, the book kept me interested and while it was a little twist, the ending was satisfying.

Karma has a way of making things right even if it takes a while. Damon and Marla are a beautiful, wealthy couple who look to have the perfect life online. But we all know looks can be deceiving. Marla finally had enough of putting up with Damon’s antics and their confrontation has serious consequences. A great read!
