The Grief House by Rebecca Thorne is a thrilling read that has mixed genres of horror, thriller and supernatural.

It starts off with Blue who has come to the grief house to mourn and to heal the loss of her mother. She was a tarot card reader and can see the supernatural, those who have been murdered. I went into this book thinking it’d be a certain way but it surprised me and blew me away. The storyline, the characters, setting and overall read of this book was amazingly done.

You get sinister feels vibes, the horror and thrill aspects keep you entertained and wanting to read onwards. The beginning of the grief house though starts off with more thriller vibes but as the book goes along that is when the true horror kicks off.

The plot is original and well written that will have readers wanting more. I was engrossed throughout the whole reading process and really enjoyed it. Would recommend to fellow book readers who enjoy a thriller/horror book, the grief house checks off all these genres and will not disappoint.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Bloomsbury Publishing Plc (UK & ANZ) for the copy of this arc in exchange of an honest review.

This seems to cover several genres, mystery, horror, supernatural searching for what?

Excellent storyline, I thought I knew where it was going, but sadly mistaken. Descriptions of the places and surroundings were excellent, really felt at times as if you were there with them.

Unusual plot riveting. Read this whilst in hospital and was so engrossed forgot to take my medication.

New author for me to follow Thank you for letting me read this book.

This wasn't what I was expecting g and I have no complaints about that lol. It has the most perfect tension built throughout and there's just this really eerie, unnerving feeling which is perfect for the tone of the book. I loved the mix of thriller/ horror vibe but without being an actual horror. It just has that same, high anxiety inducing, fear inducing tension that leaves your hairs standing on end. The plot is original and unlike anything I'd read before. Its worlds apart from anything else out there at the moment and I loved every second

4+ stars

This book makes every single thing to be either sinister or spooky... and I'm perfectly OK with that.
Blue is an amazing main character, with so very much baggage that I feel we could have whole books written about her life rather than just the odd bit we got here.
A mystery unfolds, and there's a few scary moments, but equally one particular scene I found too emotional... basically it has ALL the feelings.
An excellent read.

Secrets May Out..
Mystery and the supernatural combine in this novel of twisting suspense. A week long grief retreat at a remote yet stunning country house hotel is not really something that Blue would normally have considered, yet circumstances have pushed her in that direction and so she goes. Nothing, however, is quite as it seems and when a storm cuts the house and all in it off even further from the outside world secrets may out. Atmospheric and menacing and with a deftly drawn and credible cast, this is a both immersive and compelling read.

The Grief House by Rebecca Thorne. Thank you to NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing Plc (UK & ANZ), Raven Books for this ARC.

This is a thriller/mystery/horror set at a grief retreat on a country estate. It centres around Blue who is trying to come to terms with the loss of her mother. She was a tarot card reader years ago and sees the ghosts of people that have been killed and who attach themselves to their murderer. This book was not what I expected and I was really surprised by it. It’s twisty and keeps you guessing, I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. It is due to be published on 18 January 2024.

An incredibly twisty horror/thriller full of secrets. This started out as a heart-breaking story full of grief and the people trying to come to terms with all of their own losses which then turns to s suspenseful and thrilling mystery. I was completely absorbed in this and, although it was a bit confusing at times especially with the dual timelines which aren't 'labelled' in chapters, I really loved this mystery and couldn't wait to find out what happened. I think this will be a big hit with horror and mystery lovers, especially as this has a mix of the supernatural too.
