Opposites attract in Jessica Gilmore’s gloriously escapist and wonderfully romantic new novel, Love on the Island.

Everything is going according to plan for Indi Drewe. About to turn thirty, Indi’s life is as close to perfect as it could possibly get: she is about to get a promotion at work, lives in her beautiful London flat and is in a relationship with a gorgeous man whom she is sure is about to pop the question. Only, things go suddenly awry when, on the night Will was meant to propose to her, Indi gets some shocking news: her younger sister Jade is about to marry a man she’s known for mere weeks – and Indi is determined to move heaven and earth to keep her sister from making such a terrible mistake!

Indi hops on the first flight to Greece apprehensive about what she’s about to find when she lands – and the shocks begin the second she walks through the villa she’s staying at and discovers that she will be sharing the house with an infuriating, aggravating and drop dead gorgeous stranger, Mikhos – who seems to be unable to keep his shirt on for more than five minutes. Sparks begin to fly the minute the two of them clap eyes on another, but with just a matter of days before Jade’s wedding, Indi and Mikhos must put aside their differences and work together in order to stop these nuptials.

However, the more time the two of them spend in each other’s company, the more they begin to wonder whether they should stop fighting their feelings for one another and give into the attraction that sizzles between them that is hotter than the Greek sun! Will Indi find her happy ending in Greece? Or will she choose the safe option and head back to London where she will spend the rest of her life wondering what might have been?

Jessica Gilmore’s Love on the Island is a witty, warm-hearted and irresistible contemporary romance that will make you laugh out loud and keep you reading way past your bedtime. Sparkling with humour, charm and so much heart, Love on the Island is a sexy, feel-good and uplifting summer romance with a heroine you will love and a gorgeous hero you cannot help but swoon over.

Perfect for Tessa Bailey and Sue Roberts fans, Jessica Gilmore’s Love on the Island is an enjoyable romantic read I couldn’t read fast enough.

This book was such a fun read with some serious heart to it. Set against a beautiful Greek island paradise, we get to follow two sisters, the elder who has her life planned to the minuite, perfect job, perfect home, perfect boyfriend who is about to propose, until he dumps her and throws her entire life into chaos; meanwhile the younger sister announces she is enganged to her boyfriend who she met while working abroad and she has a secret, she is also pregnant and she needs to persuade her older sister that this is a great idea and that she is happy and responsible and she knows what she is doing. I absolulutely loved this book, it was so vivid I could feel the sun and smell the sea and I felt my emotions being dragged around for both the FMCs. I can't wait to see what Jessica Gilmore writes next.

If you’re looking for an easy summer beach read, you can’t go wrong with this one!

Told in chapters from the point of view of sisters Jade and Indi, while this is essentially a romance novel, it’s also a tale of family ties and self discovery.

I particularly liked how as they storyline progressed the role of the sisters was reversed, with both having to overcome previously ingrained habits and come out of their comfort zones.

‘I’m a planner. I like to know where things are going, what lies ahead, try to mitigate any problems before they occur, have contingencies in place for any disasters.’

This quote jumped out of the page at me as I felt like I could really identify with Indi’s need to pre-empt things and assume a certain sense of control. Yet it was apparent from the outset that even the most thorough of plans can unravel through no fault of your own!

Despite dealing with some difficult emotions, there is plenty of humour within the narrative which helps to keep it lighthearted. I especially loved the ‘Spice Girls’ scene in the opening chapters which was perfectly described.

Jade’s relationship with Nico is blissfully romantic and the obvious spark between Indi and Mikhos is deliciously played out.

A thoroughly enjoyable read!

With thanks to the author, Rachel at Random Resources and Orion publishing for the opportunity to participate in the promo.

Thank you for letting me review this amazing book.
I love the duel Point of Veiw from each sister, it makes a change from point of view being male and female.
Sometimes life doesn't go as planed, but this story shows that sometimes that's just fine. And going with the flow can work out great

Two romance stories in one, what more could this romance lover want!! I was immersed in the Greek setting from the off and adored every page. A fabulous read that I highly recommend!

Really enjoyed this. I love a good rom com and this was right up my street. Pacing was a little off for me at times but other than that, I really enjoyed the characters and their dynamic and the plot

I DNF this book. I just wasn't invested in this book. I gave it a good shoot, but no, not for me...

"Love on the Island" by Jessica Gilmore is an irresistibly romantic and spicy summer escape. Gilmore's storytelling is a delightful blend of love, humor, and sizzling passion, making it the perfect read for those seeking a sun-soaked love story.

I was expecting to really enjoy this book but it just didn't hit the spot. It was like a carbon copy of many books that ive previously read before. It's ok for a quick and easy read but nothing that I would be quick to recommend to others.

If your looking for a book to help you soak up any teeny little bits of summer that are left then this would be for you. It is set on the most beautiful Greek island and the description really does transport you there. It’s a beautiful dreamy setting that feels like a main character all by it’s self in this story.

This does have romance in it but I would say it slants a little more into woman’s fiction for me, because the main element of the story is about family, specifically the sisters relationships!

This was a sweet read with a lovely slower pace. Definitely pick this one up if your looking for a book with some family dynamics and little bit of love on the side all set in a beautiful location!

From the blurb -

Indi Drewe is turning thirty and is exactly where she wants to be: she's on the cusp of a promotion, lives in her gorgeous London flat and is sure her perfect-on-paper boyfriend, Will, is about to propose...

Only, on the night she'd hoped Will would present her with a sparkling diamond ring, she finds out that her younger sister Jade is getting married to a man she's known only for a few weeks!

Worried her sister is about to make a terrible mistake, she immediately flies out to visit her sister in Greece - and is shocked to discover she's sharing her villa with a far-too-handsome (and perpetually shirtless) stranger, Mikhos.

Indi and Mikhos might be each other's worst nightmare, but together, they only have days to stop the wedding before it's too late! Yet with so much love in the air on this paradise island, will they be able to resist falling for each other, too?

Firstly, a big thank you to Orion and Net Galley for the ARC and the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

This book is very deserving of a 5⭐️ rating. It felt so romantic, yet, it’s a story that isn’t just about romance. It’s a story about a big sister allowing her little sister to spread her wings and grow, and become the person she’s meant to be. It’s about a girl learning to find the missing parts of herself that she tucked away a long time ago so she could help her little sister grow up. It’s about people learning that sometimes life changes and throws unexpected curveballs, but we should never give up on our dreams.

The location is wonderful. It really added to the romantic atmosphere. And when the storm hits the idyllic islands, it really adds to the different tensions brewing in the relationships.

I loved all of the characters. I loved the relationships between them all. Jade and Nico are so flipping cute together – they are having to grow up a lot quicker than they expected, but they are truly meant to be. Mikhos and Indi are a pairing you wouldn’t put together at the beginning, but I was rooting for them for the majority of the book. Two very different couples, but two great relationships.

This book is the perfect summer read. Great location, great characters, lots of romance, lots of depth, and a great, engaging plot. Fantastic.

I had a really fun time reading this
I felt the plot was compelling and the meticulous details added a lot of depth
This story places a strong emphasis on love's power to overcome distance and circumstances - such a delightful read
As India discovered, even the most well thought-out plans can sometimes fail.

I loved this book, it was such an easy lighthearted read. I sped through it. I loved the relationship between the two sisters and the love they have for each other and that we got to see both their POVs. And obviously, the romance was great!

Thank you Netgalley and Orion Publishing for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Indi flies to Greece to stay with her sister when her careful plans fall apart. She meets Mikhos but his life is on the island and hers is back in London. I liked how it is told from multiple points of view.

I read a lot of pretty dark thrillers, which I love, but sometimes it’s really nice to read something on the lighter side, ideally something fun and witty, and Love on the Island was exactly what I was looking for! It’s honestly the perfect summer read - full of sunshine, beautiful settings and characters that are easy to root for. This would be such a good choice for packing in your suitcase if you’re jetting off somewhere gorgeous! However, it was also a fabulous piece of escapism to read from here in Scotland!

I certainly enjoyed and appreciated the spicy romance in Love on the Island, but my favourite thing in the book, other than the stunning and evocative descriptions of Greece, was the development and depiction of the relationship between the two sisters at the heart of the story, Indi and Jade. I loved their very different but equally relatable perspectives. Overall, Love on the Island is an engaging, atmospheric, funny and scorching summer read that I would highly recommend picking up!

I loved every second off this book. I stayed up late to finish it as I just needed to know what was going to happen. Indi likes to do things by order and she’s getting to a point in her life where she thinks her boyfriend will propose.
Turns out her sister is getting engaged to a man she barely knows in Greece. So, she takes a trip out there and not only to reinvent herself after what happened back home but also possibly meeting someone who might spark the flame in her.

A beautiful setting, love the sister relationship that shows the ups and downs and overall the perfect beach read.

Just couldn’t warm to the protagonist, unfortunately - too high maintenance and a bit of a know-it-all and couldn’t really find her more amenable qualities.

Indi Drewe is about to hit her thirtieth birthday, and her life is going just as she planned. A job promotion is on the cards, and she is pretty certain that her boyfriend Will is about to pop the question - right on schedule. But on the night when she thinks Will is going to go down on one knee, the future she has mapped out for herself (with multiple spreadsheets) goes off-key. Not only is Will not quite on the same Excel page as Indi, but her younger sister Jade is piping her to the post on the marriage front - to Nico, a man she has only known for a few weeks.

Indi may feel like her personal life is in freefall, but she is determined to prevent Jade from making a mistake in hers. She sets off to Greece to talk some sense to her sister, but when she gets there she is rather distracted by Jade's extremely handsome boss, Mikhos, who is equally keen not to see his cousin Nico getting married. While they set about persuading Jade and Nico not to rush into anything, they find it increasingly hard to to deny that there is a growing attraction between them too. Is love in the air for more than one couple on this idyllic island?

In Love on the Island, Jessica Gilmore carries you off to the beautiful Greek island of Naxos for a gorgeous rom-com adventure. The story is told through the eyes of two sisters, Indi who is a super-organised project manager in London, and her younger sister Jade who is working in an exclusive holiday resort in a tiny island off the coast of Naxos. When tragedy struck in their childhood, Indi took on the role of responsible parent to Jade, which their artist mother seemed incapable of doing, and she has been used to looking after her little sister ever since - its a role she finds hard to step back from, even though Jade is growing up. Meanwhile, Jade is beginning to find her feet out from under Indi's wing, and she is thrown by having to make some very adult decisions.

As the exclusive resort Mikhos is trying to get off the ground comes together, with help of Nico and Jade, Gilmore throws in a bevy of dilemmas for both sisters to negotiate. There is heat in more than just the Greek weather, and along the bumpy path to happiness, she strums on your heartstrings with themes of coming of age, responsibility, expectation, and learning to let go, and explores family dynamics beautifully. I laughed and cried my way through the story, all the way to the heart-warming ending, and thoroughly enjoyed all the little asides into the hard-working hospitality industry, and the weirdness of the world of social media.

This is a fabulous summer read, set against the backdrop of sun, sea, and sensuous experiences, and it hits that warm and fuzzy spot to perfection. I loved it!

Indi was turning thirty and exactly where she wanted to be: on the cusp of a promotion and sure her boyfriend Will was about to propose. On the night she hoped he would pop the question, she learned that her younger sister Jade was getting married to Nico, a man she'd only known a few months.

At the same time, Will wanted a change and issued her an ultimatum. Her perfect-on-paper boyfriend and relationship weren't so perfect anymore. Worried about her sister making a terrible mistake, she flew to Greece to visit Jade and perhaps convince her to think things through first. There she met Mikhos, Nico's far-too-handsome cousin and owner of the island and resort.

They both disapproved of Jade and Nico's impending nuptials, and while figuring out how to stop it, ended up with mutual attraction for each other. I loved that it was out in the open between them, that they acknowledged it even though they didn't act on it at first.

Jade and Nico themselves had their own issues to solve. They were clearly in love, and Nico was ready to do life with Jade despite the uncertainties of the future. The pressure came to a head, but they got through it.

I loved these two sisters and their love for each other, working through arguments and getting better at understanding each other. The Greek island summer setting was glorious. I could almost picture it. This was the perfect summer read!
