A New York tear jerking feel good Christmas story! Absolutely love this book and has made me want to visit New York even more. Characters and story well written and I can just describe this book as warm and cosy.
I requested this as an ARC from Netgalley and so glad I did, thank you for letting me have the pleasure of feeling Christmas in a hot June here in the UK!

A Winter in New York - Josie Silver
I loved the setting and the characters (especially Gio!), and did shed more than a few tears towards the end, I could not put it down - I just needed to finish it. I thought is was a beautifully written romance, perfect to read in the festive period and cannot wait to get stuck into more from this author, Thanks so much Netgalley and Penguin for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.

This was a lovely feel good story, I liked it that the main character was reliving her mums past, the description of New York was excellent and made me want to go. Recommended

A Winter in New York by Josie Silver
Iris is from London but after her mum, Violet passed away Iris moved to New York as it was one of her mum’s favourite city’s when she travelled with her band over thirty years ago and Iris can feel her mums presents in New York. In New York, Iris stumbles upon Belotti’s Gelateria, which she saw in her mum’s memory Journal, and there she meets Gio Belotti.
I did not want to stop reading about Iris and Gio, how their romance blossomed. I loved all the Belotti family. I love the family atmosphere that the book portrayed, full of warmth and love.
I have read every one of Josie’s books and each one of them tugs on your heart and one box of tissues may not be enough to dry your tears.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine, Dell for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review

I’m a sucker for novels set in New York, and this is a cracker! Rather slow to start but bringing rich rewards. Full of emotion, it is an intense read, mostly narrated by the main character Iris There is a mystery too, with interjections from the previous generations relationship which help to explain. The characters are well written and utterly believable and the main romance beautifully done. It covers the gamut of love, abuse, loss, friendship and family: the latter whether by blood or by choice. It’s the real deal. A lovely winter read.

Iris arrives in New York with but the memories her late mother told her. She wants a new start and bumps into Gio who she discovers is linked to her past. Wonderful and very emotional at times

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. This was yet another fabulous book by Josie Silver, I loved it from the first page to the last and will be recommending it to everyone i know.

Is it too early to start reading books about winter??
No! and especially not if it's a Josie Silver book, I love her books even though they make me cry, every time!!
Iris has fled an abusive relationship following the death of her mum and came to New York she's never been before but it's the place where her mum felt most at home and talked about often. On a day out with her friend Bobby she's drawn to the door of a gelateria which feels so familiar ..
Enter Gio and the rest of the Belotti's in the midst of a family crisis ...
This story takes you on a roller coaster of emotions with vibrant and likeable characters.
Another Josie Silver book you can't put down and a joy to read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books for the ARC.

Fans of Jodie Silver will not be disappointed, A winter in New York is a story focusing on Iris and Gio and the historic story of Vivien and Santo.
Iris has fled London after an awful relationship and the death of her mother. New York is where her mother felt home so that’s where she’s landed. Iris finds herself working in a noodle shop and home is the flat above the shop. Bobby the owner of the shop is Iris's only friend, takes her out one evening and she stumbles upon Bottellis a Gelato shop. It’s familiar to her.
Iris meets Gio, the famous family gelato recipe is lost…or is it. Iris holds the secret, but it’s not hers to share. As the secrets people hold become too big, life gets difficult for Iris all whilst she is falling in love with Gio.
A lovely story and an emotional one.
Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a preview copy I’m exchange for a review.

This is a warming heartfelt story about Iris fleeing an abusive relationship in England, and visiting her mother’s favourite place New York.
Living in an apartment shared by her friend Bobby and his partner, she comes across a small shop selling gelato which somehow seems familiar. Becoming friendly with Gio, the shop owner’s son, Iris realises that she has the answer to a problem he has about a recipe, but feels unable to help him.
Iris and Gio are attracted to each other from the start, and their romance gradually develops. After always feeling like an outsider, she becomes embraced within his wonderful family, feeling safe and protected. The vibrant New York scenery and characters are so richly described, all comes alive on the page. Their humour is infectious, and make you want to keep turning the pages.
I like how Iris loves music and singing, and the pleasure she gains from it, and you become emotively involved in her character. All characters are likeable and relatable, but I didn’t feel that her secret seemed strong enough to stop her from giving Gio the information he needs.
Overall, this is an engaging, captivating romance which is a joy to read.

I absolutely loved this book, it is the first Winter themed book that I have read this year and it has set a really high bar for any others to meet. I read this in two sittings because I had to know what happened to our characters - simply an engrossing read.

Iris stumbled upon an Italian cafe that she recognises from a picture in her mothers photo album. When she returns the next day she meets the beautiful Italian owner Gio and here she discovers all about why this place featured in the picture.
As her relationship with Gio and his very large and lively Italian family progresses she realises she has gotten in too deep. If she discloses her mother’s secrets now she risks hurting all the people she has come to love, breaking a promise she made to her mother and she will be left alone, again
Romantic novels are not my favourite genre to read and I’m always dubious picking one. There have been some I have enjoyed in the past but unfortunately this wasn’t one of them.
I found this story very drawn out and did skip over a few pages. I enjoyed the close Italian family scenes and also liked the story of Iris’s mum and Santo. There is not a whole lot more I want to shout about.
I do think if this is a genre you usually enjoy you will will like this book as it is very much like most other romantic stories.
Thanks to #netgalley for sending me a digital copy of this book

Josie Silver writes emotion very well, and her characters are always vivid and believable. She is one of my favourite writers so I was thrilled when I was approved for an early look at this book. Read it one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I was rooting for Iris from the start.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this lovely book in exchange for an honest review.

I cried buckets of tears for Iris and everything she was going through. Gio has a loud and very boisterous family. When they meet they find a connection that means the world to them both. Secrets and lies cause huge problems for them both which had me crying even more. I'm so glad that they get their happy ever after together.

A heartwarming read whilst dealing with many issues which are sensitively dealt with. Written mainly from the point of view of the main character, Iris, moving to New York after the death of her motherand escaping an abusive relationship so lacking confidence . Wonderful characters, well drawn and most totally engaging. Many secrets which at times make frustrating reading but, at the same time can see the logic to not being more open. Some dips into the past and decisions made impacting the present day storyline.

Iris + Gio
After the only person in her life - her mom - died and her boyfriend turned out to be a horrible person, Iris left London and moved to her mom's favorite place: New York City. She also left her great job as a chef to make noodles in a tiny asian restaurant because nobody else was hiring. But she also found her landlord and very best bestie in that noodle shop building. Bobby - he and his husband own the building.
Bobby is also the one to drag her out of the house one day to enjoy some great food at the Little Italy street fest.
That's where she sees that cute little Gelateria. The exact same one from her mom's photo.
And that's only the beginning of the mysteries ...
Will Iris find her happily ever after in that Gelateria or will all those mysteries and secrets destroy everything?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!

Adorable!
I just loved this whole foodie, New Yorkie, ice creamy, wintery, slightly sad and grieving mood.
We so want a happy end for Iris. But so far she only found her BFF in her new city.
But now here's Gio. Of course things are complicated. She could help him but should she? Would her mom mind? Would Gio's family hate her and her mom?
Very complicated and difficult situation.
But we keep on reading and hoping that we'll get that Iris and Gio happy end!
I really enjoyed reading this.
Such a sweet and heartbreaking love story.
But also so fun and sparky and adorable and heartwarming.
I just adored all the people!!
I would soo watch the movie!
► A WINTER IN NEW YORK was the most adorable love story. So full of family and love and loss and hope and hopelessness and food and ice cream and ... all the things! Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Iris + Gio - they'll be sold out in no time!

A beautiful story full of emotion as you range from happy and sad throughout the story. A real sentiment of loyalty to the past at the detriment of the future.

If you want a book that leaves your feeling warm and fuzzy … then this book is for YOU!!
Josie escapes a bad relationship and moves to New York in search of bringing her closer to her deceased mother.
Little was she expecting to fall straight into her mothers past, with so many unanswered questions …
Can she save the Belotti family and face betraying her mother?
Can she really love again after her last relationship
I’ve never experienced so many breath holding moments whilst reading a book!
A must read!

A lovely, heart-warming Christmas romance set in New York following Iris after a bad breakup. This is a beautiful story which has a mix of sweet light-hearted moments mixed with more emotional and raw parts. I thought this was a great book to read in one sitting and get absorbed into these characters lives and fall in love with the story.

I would like to thank Penguin General UK - Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton, Viking, Penguin Life, Penguin Business and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
One day in December was the first romance I’ve read. With it, came my love for the comfort of the HEA romances provide, granting Josie Silver a special place in my heart.
A Winter in New York does what it promises, and bring us to the magical New York during the holiday season. The book celebrates family bonds, the importance of fighting for your own voice, dealing with heavy past baggage and finding love after difficult times.
This is a sweet story, full of lovely characters and heartwarming moments. Iris and Gio have great chemistry and it’s impossible not to root for their happiness.
The characters are slightly older than what it’s typical in recent contemporary romances, which was a nice change, though I struggled to understand some of their choices and decisions.
Although I wanted to scream with Iris for the whole story regarding the things she was holding back, the ending wraps everything rather nicely.
Overall a cozy and tender read for the winter.
