Admittedly i didn’t love this book when i started it. Had a stop start relationship with it, but the other day my kindle glitched, and it grabbed my attention anew.
Multi layered, unraveling the stories of Iris, her mother and the Belotti family (and their Gelateria), this book is an unwavering love story - a great read for romantics. I loved the various layers of the story, and Iris’ search for a safe place after her troubled times. I have a particularly soft spot for Bobby, Iris’ boss and landlord.
A really enjoyable read, the pages flew by. 4*

A great festive read set in one of my favourite places.
Can you ever really go wrong with a Christmas book set in New York?
A heartwarming cozy read about family, friends, love and finding yourself.

This is the first book I have read by Josie Silver but it certainly won’t be the last. After reading this emotional yet entertaining story I need to check out her other works.
Iris has moved to New York to start afresh after losing her mother and walking away from an abusive relationship. New York City has a lot more going on and she seeks solace in a small Gelateria Shop and this is where she sees a photo that holds a striking resemblance to her late mother.
Meeting the shop owner Gio she finds out the family gelato maker is in a coma and no one else knows the family secret recipe. Tasting their gelato has her realising her own gelato recipe is very similar so could she be the answer to keeping the Gelateria open……
Secrets are being kept and if revealed they could ruin Iris and Gio’s chance of a future. One click now to find out what the future holds.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

It's all about the recipe, I enjoyed this book, not so much as J0sie's previous ones but it was well written and engaging nonetheless. A story that brings the past, present and future together.

A great festive book to get you in the mood for the winter months! I enjoyed the characters! Thank you netgalley for the review copy!

Josie Silver books are always like a warm hug to me. I love their writing/storytelling style and this one did not disappoint.
One day in December is one of my favourite holiday reads of all time and when i saw this book i knew i had to read it.
The couple in this story was perfection. I just love them so much. Also this book really made me want to eat a tonne of Gelato.
The "suprises" in this book were believable and so well done and just made the whole reading experince enjoyable.
This has firmly put Josie Silver on my auto buy author list

New York in winter time, especially around Christmas is just so magical. Having been there a couple of times, I was able to picture the setting really well in my head. I felt like the author did the city justice and brought the magic to life within the pages. It was a lovely romantic story with loveable characters. This was my first book by the author but probably not the last.

Two of my favourite things, seasonal reads and New York, I also love Josie’s books and her descriptions just make me feel like I’m back in NYC. This book is full of heart, family, friendships, love and finding yourself and I loved every second
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So cute! And love that it's set in New York in the winter. Slightly annoying protagonist but I can cope with that. Lovely cozy book that will warm your heart! Really enjoyed and would recommend.

Winter in New York is a beautiful, emotional book filled with love and warmth. The story begins on Valentine’s Day and then we are thrown forwards seven months later and pans out across a year with the Epilogue on Valentine’s Day. I liked how it felt like it all came full circle. The story is told from Iris’ perspective and I was drawn to her immediately. Her character has such a presence, strong and determined. There are a few chapters interspersed in the past, as we follow Vivien, Iris’ Mother. This adds so much, viewing things directly from her, and further solidifies the narrative.

Whilst it was predictable, I really enjoyed this book especially the New York setting. A lovely Christmas read

I’ve really enjoyed Josie Silver’s previous novels but a Winter in New York was a disappointing read for me. I love novels with a New York setting and those with a secret at their heart but neither worked that well for me here. I didn’t find the novel atmospheric enough as it didn’t transport me to winter in New York. I found it hard to connect with the characters and felt that the secret was not handled with enough sensitivity. However, Josie Silver does write beautifully and there were some emotional moments for me. It’s also a gorgeous cover !
A mixed read and I look forward to the author’s next novel.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

Gave up half way through, quite boring. Obvious how it was going to turn out so dinner bother. I used to finish a book even if I wasn’t enjoying it but now I don’t, too many other books to read. Sorry but it is a no from me.

Josie Silvers books always have me sucked it and this book was no exception! It took me straight back to New York and I couldn’t put this down

In this captivating novel, a young chef stumbles upon a hidden family recipe that may hold the key to the love and fulfilment she's been seeking.
When Iris decides to make a fresh start in New York, she quickly discovers that the city is even more vast than the romanticized version she enjoyed in nostalgic movies with her mom. The scale of the Big Apple becomes apparent, but her best friend, Bobby, refuses to see her down. Dragging her to a popular autumn street fair in Little Italy, Bobby leads her to a charming family-run gelateria. Intrigued, Iris wonders if it's the same place from an old photo of her mother's.
Returning the next day, Iris meets Gio, a handsome man who reveals that the gelateria is facing closure because his uncle, the sole guardian of their family's secret gelato recipe, is ill. As Iris samples the last batch, she discovers a remarkable connection between their gelato and her mother's recipe. However, she grapples with how to share this revelation, uncertain of why Gio's uncle entrusted the secret to her mother.
In an attempt to help, Iris offers her culinary expertise to recreate the unique flavour, gradually falling for Gio and his family in the process. Yet, as Gio's uncle's health improves, Iris realises the secrets she's been harbouring threaten to unravel her new reality. The novel skillfully weaves together themes of love, family, and the delicate balance between preserving the past and embracing a hopeful future. It's a comforting and entertaining read, and I really enjoyed it.

Anyone who has visited New York will realise how implausible the storyline of this book is, however you can’t help but like and enjoy reading it. The characters are easy to empathise with and who can resist a good romance set in a beautiful city?

This was a good read. I found the pace a little slow, but such great connections to the main characters. I wanted to be a part of their family too.
Great book and will be appropriate for a wide audience.

New York and Christmas go together to make a super festive read, and Josie brings that little bit of magic too!
Iris arrives in New York wanting to restart her cooking career and recover from a broken heart.
Whilst at a food festival she sees a Gelateria that looks remarkably familiar, upon entering she meets Gio, a very attractive, friendly man, hiding his own crisis, which as fate may have it, Iris can solve but can’t tell him how…
A fabulous tale about letting go of the past, gaining confidence, friendships, family values and great
new beginnings, set in the most magnificent city.

Josie Silver always writes charming Christmassy novels that make you want to escape and this was no different. I love how she brought the sights and smells of New York to life!
Thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review

this book is very heart warming and also one to make you shed a tear or two telling a story of hardship fun joy and happiness in the end for iris and gio when a lovely love story takes place in italy with icecream and noodles to help
